Before I begin .. Id like to point out that I am a huge
fan of Smallville.

I cant get enough of this show. I look forward to Tuesday
nights now.

* * *

That bieng said, 6 or 7 episodes into Smallville some plot holes
are slowly developing we as fans should make note of.

1] In Hourglass Clark tell Chloe that the pond was littered with
meteor fragments (i.e. Kryptonite) . Chloe responds
'well that explains this weeks villan'(slight paraphrasing here)

So this means that Clark & his buddies are aware that
exposure to kryptonite is harmfull or dangerous.

However Lana's in the room ...even asks what did Chloe
mean by her statement - Clark tells her hell explain later.

Why doesnt anyone warn Lana against wearing a potentiallyharmfull substance around her kneck as Jewelery?

2] I'll only bring it up briefly here as I allready have a thread on
this forum called ' How humans acquire powers from kryptonite'
But Lana's been wearing Kryptonite around her kneck for
15 years . Lex was exposed to it for 3 minutes and went
Bald.

Why isnt Lana hairless and flying around Smallville at
this point ?

3] Smallville PD make Mayberry PD look like Scottland Yard !

Doesnt anyone wonder how Clark is involved in every criminal
activity in Smallville ? I mean Smallville is supposed to be
an idealic little town in the midwest. Other than your average
15 yr old Bug men and shapeshifting beauty queens this town
is pretty quite.
How can Clark keep arriving at murder scenes and not arouse
suspicion.

4] Smallville suffers from 'Sitcom Alzheimers'.

This is a condition that affects residents of Sitcoms
and other series where the characters can never
remember events that happen in previous episodes.

Every villan of the week is treated like an isolated
incident so far. No one remembers last weeks tragedy.

Even Pa Kent say ... what so she exposed to kryptonite
and suddenly shes psychic. He says this skeptically.

Did he forget last weeks bugboy .. or Freezerboy?

I guess Pa's got the Sitcom Alzheimers.

I could list more ... but Id like to hear from the forum .
Any other glaring Plot Holes? Issues?

How about Metropolis being just a limo ride away. As far as I know, Smallville is nowhere close to the big city.

Well to answer #2 as to why Lana isnt powered up or anything, I think you need an external factor to "juice" up the Kryptonite, whether it's electricity or bug DNA or etc. I think Lex's baldness was caused by the impact of the meteor, not the Kryptonite.

I didnt even list this as a plot hole because I had started a whole thread just based on this one point - aptly lableled
"Metropolis only a limo ride away from Smallville ? " .

I'll bump it up so you can check it out.

That was interesting because we were able to determine
that Metropolis is in the great state of Delaware -
not Kansas!

check it out .

Granted, while Smallville is dealing with Clark's teen years, wouldn't it be nice to hear about anywhere else BESIDES Smallville and Metropolis. Everything great seems to be in Metropolis. Why not NY? Or Gotham? (maybe even mention how bad Gotham is and why no one wants to go there). Maybe even talk about somewhere that's not half ways across the country. Maybe all of Smallville has satellite systems and only get stations from Metropolis?
You would think by now that someone must be putting the pieces together in Smallville and formulating some kind of theory about the odd occurances and glowing meteorite chunks EVERYWHERE (besides Chloe). Clark is seeming to put things together, or is he? Lana isn't suffering any ill effects yet. Will she ever?
Lex has not been directly linked with any of the more previous events, but seems to be the only curious one in the whole town.
Why doesn't Clark just say something to his parents about how the meteorite pieces make him feel sick and weak? Maybe then ol' Pa Duke wouldn't be so skeptical about what it might be doing to others in Smallville.
An aside...When the old guy fell in the pond and was transformed to his younger self, I found myself yelling at the tv NOT to show kryptonite lying all over the place. To my dismay, that's what they did. :(

Question: Is Lana even wearing the necklace at this point? Because she lost it in ep 1, in ep 2 or 3 Lex gave it to Clark, and Clark never had the guts to give it back to her. Plus, he hasn't been getting weak around her anymore.

Yes Clark did give back the necklace ...
he left it hanging on her front door -rang
the doorbell and disapeared.

She has since been shown wearing the necklace .
The chameleon episode was post return of the necklace.
Luckily she was wearing it so the shapeshifter could
conveniently snatch it from her and use it on Clark.

I wish they were either consistent with the necklace
issue ...or explained that she doesnt always wear it.

The necklace was supposed to serve as an obstacle for
Clark ...he likes Lana but cant go near her.

I think the writers discovered that it was hard for Clark to
interact with her in a story if she constantly wears it
so the writers are using the necklace when convenient.

That irks me.

With Lana most likey being a fashion sensitive kind of girl, maybe it didn't go with her outfit?

The Clark and Lana interaction would have sucked if he fell down or got weak in the knees every time she tried to talk to him (or vice versa).

I still have to wonder why either some government agency didn't clean up Smallville after the meteor shower or why the town isn't crawling with scientists studying the remains of the shower.
After the national attention the town received after the destruction (with Lana on the cover of Time Magazine), wouldn't there at least be a Discovery Channel special on "The Special Rocks of Smallville" or something like that?

What was the external factor in the Coach? He was just relaxing to some Kryptonite steam and developed powers.

Or at least a series of Time Life books on the oddities of Smallville. They are all well documented. Heck, even Time magazine did a cover story on the town!

Perhaps the high levels of heat and water? If steam was forming I assume the rocks were at least boiling temperature.

two things with hourglass that kinda made me not get hooked in with this ep...first off: no matter what kind of magical rocks are in the water-if a human is submeged in water along with electricity he's fries, he dies plain and simple lol...i love the show, but they are getting more and more rediculous with the krptonite fragment powers. second: i found it pretty damn convienent that BOTH time that the old guy fell in to the water he was restored to the same exact age. why not only a couple years younger..or hey, why not even younger...those few tings kind of bothered me in this ep..hope we get another kryptonite free ep next week.
