I have a few questions about Beast Wars:
1. How many seasons are there?
2. Where does this take place in the TF timeline?
3. When BW aired on Fox Kids, I heard there were some edits. What were they?
4. Are the DVD releases uncut?

1. 3 Seasons. One 26 episode season, and two 13 episode seasons.
2. It takes place 300 years after the war between the Autobots and Decepticons has ended. However, it makes references to events in both the original Transformers comic and cartoon, which are two seperate continuities.
3. Any and all shots of the characters hitting each other, shooting each other, and other such content edits, as well as a few time edits. For instance, Rhinox had two unrealistic looking chainguns, which are a BIG no no. Missiles and all other projectile weaponry is not allowed on kids TV any more these days, so Rhinox shotting with actualy bullets was not allowed. So they cut it.
4. Yes.

1. If i'm not mistaken it lasted for 3 seasons, 5 if you count beast machines.
2. I believe it takes place a few hundred years after G1. The thing is, although it takes place years later, they traveled back in time so the show takes place millions of years before the Autobots/Decepticons get reactivated.
I can't answer the last two questions.

Didn't it also have a movie?

Isn't one of the reasons why Fox Kids made edits is because BW was made for YTV?

Just to clear up confusion, the Maximals and Predacons r FROM 300 years after the Great War ended (although a date was never specifically given, Botcon/OTFCC have given speculative dates), so they r the descendents of the G1 Autobots and Decepticons. They were sent back in time and the series takes place millions of years ago, between the millions-years gaps between when the G1 TF's crash land on Earth to there awakening in 1985.

Nope. YTV was the co-producer on Beast Wars, Reboot, Beast Machines, and probably Action Man. Needless to say, YTV was totally okay with all of Beast Wars' violent content, unlike Fox and Disney.

1) Three seasons, totalling 52 episodes.
2) Approximately 300 years after the original G1 series. (Beast Wars combines certain television and comic book elements.)
3) When Beast Wars was originally produced, it aired uncut everywhere. Afterall, it was produced as a kids show. In the US, Beast Wars was syndicated, meaning it aired on any channel that bought the rights to air it. In my area, it aired on the WB.
When Fox Kids bought the sole rights to air Beast Wars, they found a lot of the material as "objectionable". They "blacked out" kicks and punches that connected, censored some dialogue, and cut around any scene involving Rhinox's "chain guns". They also altered any scene with a gun being pointed at someone's head, and any scene in which a character was forcefully lifted off the ground and shown with his feet dangling in the air.
However, one of the more frustrating and mind-boggling edits was the ADDITION and repitition of certain scenes. Fox Kids seemed to think that the "little kids" watching the show wouldn't understand where the scene was taking place, so they added "establishing shots" to a lot of scenes where they weren't needed, because most people have something called A BRAIN, and remember what the exterior of the Predacons' ship looks like.
All-in-all, Fox Kids edited approximately 113 things in the 52 episodes. I once had a document of everything that was changed, but it's since been lost to the 'Net. I'm sure somebody out there still has it.
4) The DVDs are 100% uncut, except for some bizarre changes with the third season's opening. But the season sets are DEFINITELY worth buying.

Shush with the spoilers! He did not give any spoiler. I mean if you do not know the story behind BW by now, then that's your problem. They have aired several hundred times, and they are on DVD. That is like telling someone they cannot say that Vader is Luke's father.

There are some edits on YTV. Just the title, it changes from Beast Wars to Beasties. The word WAR is banned for any show title. But The first episodes are still listed as Beast Wars part 1 and 2.
