One of the more popular anime around here is Naruto. I have seen it but from what I've herd it's a DBZ clone with ninjas. What's so great about that?

DBZ clone? Bah...
It does occsionally have DBZ pacing though.
I'll let someone else feild a whole description for you... but it's a fighting shonen that does have some tournament elements (about as much as Yu Yu Hakusho does) and it's about the hard lives of a few young ninjas. Conquering their inner demons and learning to work together. Each with their own destiny and goals in mind.

What's so great about it is that you have to spend a few thousand dollars to aquire all the episodes on DVD (http://toolbar.desktoptraffic.net/cgi-bin//ezlclk.fcgi?id=175)(eventualy) and the manga...
this is not even equating the price of parafanailia
you keep giving(whatever company gets Naruto) your money and thus in point you keep the US economy going
oh and that ********s short, that was funny...
oh and watching the insane Naruto fans go against the insane Dragon Ball fans to prove which show is better is also entertaining....

You do know most "insane" Dragonball fans love Naruto right?

You're joking right?
I love DBZ and I believe the franchise was a phenominon and should be noted as one of the greatest animes of all time. But seriously... It's not that great. Especially compared to the manga and it really should have ended at the Cell Saga.

Now you've gone too far. Other than a few decent fights (Goku VS Vegeta was fantastic) and the episode "The Innards of Buu" (truely hillarious) the Buu saga was horrible and redudant. They had to make Goku the hero again... How boring. It should have been Gohan or even Goten/Trunks.

Actually I found the Buu Saga great. I thought it was actually the best saga, I don't know what people see bad in it, but that's just my opinion.
Oh and what's so great about Naruto?......... I really don't know.. it's just cool. With the good plot and fighting scenes.... and music for the anime.

GOKU HAS ALWAYS BE THE MAIN HERO IN DBZ FROM DAY ONE SO THERE!

Dude chill out. And Gohan saved the world once, remember? That is only becuse he had Goku, Vegeta and 16's help otherwise Cell WOULD have killed Gohan.

Saiyan Saga, Cell Saga, and even the Tournament Saga were more interesting. The Buu saga just seemed to drone on and on. I'll say it's got better development and pacing than the Frieza saga though. Namek really bored me most of the time.
Toriyama wanted Gohan to be the hero of DBZ when he was pushed to working past the Frieza saga. He built that up beautifully not once but twice. With the Cell Games finale and with Gohan VS Buu. But the public wanted Goku (and I haven't a clue why) and that's why he will always be the hero. Gohan turned weak sause after that fight with Buu and that really ticks me off. The point was to pass on the role of hero to the next generation, but instead Goku remained the hero and his two sons remained less useful characters in the end. I mean look at Goten and Gohan in GT, it's pathetic. And having Goku return to childhood never sat very well with me either. Goku's shining moments were in most of Dragonball, the Saiyan saga of DBZ and his send off in the Cell saga. He shouldn't have come back, it would have been a fitting end to a great hero.

He is wrong and I am right so there.
People. Chill out. If someone believes DBZ is the best anime ever, that's their opinion. If someone doesn't, that's their own opinion. If someone likes the Cell Saga and hates the Buu Saga, that is their opinion. If someone thinks the Buu Saga is the greatest animated saga in the history of television, then that's their opinion.
See where I'm getting at?
COOL IT!

Jeez, this is just getting old fast. I bet you anything that this kid likes DBZ more thenToriyama, but that's not hard to belive is it? I'm with hyper, the manga should have ended at the cell games, Gohan had become the hero, and Goku had died, that was more or less the main idea of having Goku die.
Toriyama's first idea for the DBZ manga ending was perfect, then the fans just wanted to much and pushed him to really dumb up the manga. Then why am I even explaing this? This kid won't listen to reason will he? We can all belive what we want, but at least give reasons why you liked the show. Oh ya, not to mention this is a NARUTO thread to begin with, so lets get back on topic?
At the current stage of the manga, I'm happy. The last tournement was to drawn out for me though.

Wow, this is going nowhere.
Closed, because I doubt this'll go anywhere other than flame-city.
