View Full Version : Can I remove a thread that I started.
I started two threads, which were really just questions. They were answered quickly and accurately by one of the mods and someone else..Is it possible to remove them? I don't really know..These two were of no real significance..in any way..
thank you for your reading this...Stuart

Yeah, I've considered doing something like that in the past, but then I just realized that they're going to get buried eventually anyway. Plus, you never know... Someone else might have the exact same question that you had, and it could make for a good reference (so that they wouldn't have to re-ask it) At least, that's the way I look at it...

To answer your question, no. Only mods and admins have control over thread administration...deleting, merging, closing, etc.
Typically, threads aren't deleted just because their purpose has been served, and as Xada-Hgla mentioned it could be useful information to someone else.

If you delete a thread you would be deleting everyone else's post in it,
and except in extreme circumstances I don't even like seeing mod's do that.
Imagine if someone started a talkback or another popular thread, but didn't like what people were saying so they delete it.
I hate all attempts at revising history.
Although I do seem to be going back quite often myself to fix problems with spelling and grammar in my own posts, so I'm not completely against the edit button.
You could have just PM'ed someone with your question, but I thought they were topics worth greater input and probably things others were thinking about.

Deleting stuff will delete anyone else's post. So...why delete it. Xada-Hgla is also right. I'd prefer it if even mod and admins don't delete threads.
Some good points have been made, and after some thought, I guess, it is up to the mods and I agree with.Tienshin..thank you very much for all that have given input. and ideas here.....Stuart
