Only catch is you have to win.

Jist of it: Make a short (2 minutes or less ABSOLUTELY NO MORE >=o ) film that evokes, mimics, or complements the essence of Home Movies (animation or live action). Winner/runner-ups will recieve free camcorder and some DVDs. Grand prize winner gets the camcorder and has their short go on the HM Season 2 DVD and have their short live on for the ages.

Oh, I am all over this one. The prizes are neat all around, and I've got enough experience with film (and enough Home Movies-loving friends) to cobble together something of some value.
Thanks for the heads-up, Landstander.

I might try this but this article made a question pop into my head, what date if there is one is Home Movies Season 2 DVD schedule for? I'm wondering because it says 2005 so I wasn't sure if they had a date yet or not....here's hoping early 2005. Thanks in advance.

I think I heard somewhere that S2 would be around February or March 05 (and the date on the contest mixes with that). Not sure, though.

Damn... I'm in.
Not that I'd ever be awesome enough to make anything, but this is one of the coolest prizes for anything ever.

It also seems like a smart business move, if they can get everything together for a quality release in that amount of time. Strike while the iron's hot.
As for the contest, it's an awesome idea. A great prize for the people who win, and an interesting watch for all those who buy the DVDs.

Well, I've discovered that the two-minute time limit is a rather difficult thing to work around. I had a hard time working up a coherent and enjoyable five-minute short. Nevertheless, we finished filming Sunday, and I'm quite happy with the result.
It's entitled "Ten Years Later", and takes place in the sandbox. I think you guys would like it. At any rate, here's hoping...

That sounds like a awesome contest. Too bad Home Movies hasn't caught hold in this redneck part of the country. It didn't appeal to me too strongly at first, but watching the re-runs on Sunday, I have become a junkie. I can't wait for season 2.
