I'm just stopping by to take this poll, as I was actually amused at how unamusing Adult Swim's latest show is. Did Super Milk Chan actually get good ratings in its homeland? Why exactly was it brought over? Was it a bargain bin series or what?

It's just terrible. I don't laugh at all, and I cant sit through an entire episode.

This thread is basically this thread (http://forums.toonzone.net/showthread.php?t=116418) + a poll.

The poll rules. The problem is that it is the equivalent of Family Guy or Southpark. It uses a lot of cultural references and messages only a Japanese, or someone who has watched alot of subtitiled anime.

Awful, it may very well be the worst anime I've ever seen.

I like Super Milk-Chan. The show has many noticable flaws yes but I find it a good way to waste some time watching TV. I don't understand why adult swim chose to air this version rather than the Americianized one thats actually a lot funnier... for once.

ehh, don't be dissing the milk chan because it's different..

after all , would you, without superpowers, get away without paying the rent or shooting your robot maid or running a belgian waffle stand because it'd lure a counterfieter out of hiding.. and somehow getting his filthy money spread to the population?

plus, i think the country in question might be not america or japan.. but maybe a hybrid asian country with really wierd landscapes in part of it.. and more regular anime beings in the rest of it.

and what's not to like about punishment missiles with happy faces on it?

Wow! I have to say Case Closed, Super Milk Chan, and Tom Goes to the mayor are the only shows that make me look forward to Adult Swim now, and Super Milk Chan Wow! I think its a very Original show and should still live on! HAIL SUPER MILK CHAN I SALUTE YOU!:D

Rather be watching Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, or sleeping. But on the bright side, it isn't Case Closed.

When I saw it I couldn't help but think of an anime movie I recently saw at a film Festival, Tamala 2010: Punk Cat in Space. (http://forums.toonzone.net/showthread.php?t=126869)* Both are similar in weirdness and both are about obscenely cute characters that often act very innapropriately. But Tamala was funnier and had more likable characters (and even wedged in a plot in the end). So, I can't say Milk-chan's failings are due just to it's weirdness or a translation problem. Tamala was weirder than Milk-chan and was a literal sub but it worked (IMO, others may disagree). On the other hand, Tamala didn't have the President :)

Milk Chan just has basic character and humor failings, it's not all just because it's misunderstood.

I did vote it "watchable" though. It has it's moments. But then... I also watched every single episode of Ripping Friends.

*Hit link if you've seen Tamala 2010 and want to respond to the thread I made for it in the Anime section

Love the MST3K reference! *thumbs up*

Super Milk-Chan is CRAP. It should be yanked off the air and replaced with something else. Probably won't happen, but hopefully CN will have the sense to put something else on once all the episodes they already have have aired, instead of showing re-runs.

Meh. Yank it and put Gundam Wing back on, or something.....

Excellent! I finally got around to watching the first episode on the recording I made and it was hilarious, not what I expected, but still hilarious. :D

The worst Fresh Prince episode is better than the best Sucker Milk Crap episode. It is the worst show I have seen since that Perfect Hair crap. Please AS, pull this show right now. Watching grass grow is more entertaining than this crap.

What are some gags that only people in Japan would get in the first two episodes?

Butho

I still fail to see why it would be on AS. It's horrible bad, and the only reasons I watch it all the way through is because of the neat designs, and because I reserve some small hope that there'd actually be something of merit popping up before the end.

But as stupid as it is, I'll give it a couple more chances before ignoring it completely.

i think, since it's about the closest thing to athf a anime show could be..
plus it seems to be one of the few shows that would show on a regular basis some of the street life in japan most americans wouldn't get to see any day...

... that i will give it more than the benefit of the doubt.

and that's the news,

I'd much rather see mXc the (spoof using Takeshi's Castle).

Super Milk Chan is definitely not for me. They took off Lupin for this?

It's Watchable for the most part. Enjoyable? Now thats another story.

I personally believed the reason WHY the (Uncut) Version of Milk Chan was aquired instead of the American Version, because Williams Street's wants to make ADV look BAD, after the failured of Toonami's Giant Robot Week, in-which ADV profited from the experience and CN did not. Again, this is my own personal opinion, it might not be ture at all. We'll never know for sure.

I usually like weird shows like that. Some of my friends criticize me for the animes and asian movies I like. (i.e. Ichi the Killer, Battle Royal, Papa Smurf's killing spree, etc. )

But I can not get into this Milk Chan. Its just stupid. And not Brak Stupid or Space Ghost stupid. I can tolerate those shows but Milk Chan just is stupid and makes no sense.

I don't find myself laughing at any point when I watch it and I really tried to enjoy it. Really tried. They just need to get it off the air.

Sorry. First time I didn't agree with Adult Swim's viewing choice.

It's watchable in the sense that it is a visually appealing show. I like the design, animation, and themes they use. The dialogue is simply atrocious though, I hate filler dialogue in dubs (when they make people say something completely bizzare just to fill in the time the mouth moves) and it's really bad when the entire show is filler like that.

What's with all the cynics and conspiracies around here? Explain why CN would want to sever a potential business partner so early in the relationship? It's not like Toonami had anything to lose with GRW. They got their Mario Tennis money, and Toonami was getting cancelled from the 4 PM hour anyway. To spend money just to disservice another company that could provide CN with programming is an incredibly stupid business move. I doubt most (non-internet) fans give a damn about who the distributor is anyway.

To add to what livingfruitvirus said, CN isn't just spending money, we're talking about well into the 5 figure range, per episode, for most acquisitions. That isn't pocket change. They aren't going to just toss that kind of money around to piss off someone or to make some silly point.

Then whoever thought the show was a good idea must either-

1. Be more of a hardcore otaku than half of Toonzone COMBINED.

2. Went for the newest, least expensive aquasition that they didn't know the name of.

3. Been sleeping.
