Hey everyone out there. It's been so long since I've really posted at TZ, but the past week I've been trying to start doing it more, and I wanted to try and ease my way back into the Drawing Board here. So, I thought I'd show you guys a pic I did tonight in about an hour. It's from Batman Year One; I quite like it. And yes, it's supposed to look all grainy and grayish. ;)

i like the varying shades of gray you have in there, detective. a real mood setter as it looks like some villain tried to blow up bats and bats survived and now bats is upset

bats, i mean, GK

No, it's Batman after he crashed a Falcone gathering. You should really read Batman: Year One, GK. It's quite excellent. And while you're at it, you may want to pick up a copy of Her Sisters Keeper.

As for the drawing, I love it. You really managed to capture the mood of the moment quite well, Detective.:)

Thanks for the comments guys. The only thing that is starting to bug me is that I didn't make it obvious enough that he's standing in a hole in the wall; I should have shaded that in all black.

Hey welcome back :) its been way too long since you posted some art.

I really like this one, but you're right I didn't realise he was standing in a hole until you said so, looking closer i can see his shoulder line so it just needs alittle definition. Saying that though its a great atmosperic picture, very dark and broody.

Hope to see more again soon so don't be a stranger :)

WOW!!!!!!THIS IS JUST AWESOME!!!!!

I love poses of Batman obscurred in shadows with only his glowing slits visible. And beautifully done too!Is it done so with a black marker, by the way?

I like the simplistic, abstract quality to it.Great stuff.:)

That's a cool picture; what did you draw it with? :)

Rune - Howdy! Hopefully I won't be making a stranger of myself. ;) And yeah, it really is getting to me. Just for clarity, the wavy black out line around him is the wall, and he's standing in a hole that he just blew in it. It's obvious when viewed next to the panel I copied from, so that may be why I kind of messed up there.

Phantasm - Yes, I penciled it in, then inked it. I used a regular size pen, and a broad marker.

Fray - Hey man, glad you liked it.

Czar Gata - Hey there. As I mentioned above, I pencilled the sketch in, then inked the solid black parts, and the gray shades are just plain pencil.

Hey, I know you! Been a while, Detective. :)
As for your drawing, it just reeks "coolness." The pose, the settling debris is just great at showing Batman doing what he does best; intimidate the heck out of the bad guys.

An excellent drawing. The smoke makes it look incredible and dark. Now, since I am extremely hyper/bored, LOOKY! :harley: :zim: :gir: :nurse: :D :D :D
