On New Years Eve (Friday 12/31) CN is airing a Hi Hi Puffy Ami Yumi marathon starting at 11PM. The New Years day schedule for Adult Swim is the basic schedule with GiTS and FMA premiering new episodes.

ROD and Animatrix on Christmas day back to back? How will they swing that? No repeat of one of them or both? Dare I say it's finally a Saturday devoid of comedy?

Between Christmas Eve and New Years Eve both dropping on Fridays Gundam Seed has only 2 premeires.

12/10 Episode 34 "Seen and Unseen"
12/17 Episode 35 "The Descending Sword"

Oh and Christmas day AS is all action. Read or Die will air first, followed by the Animatrix, and then a RoD encore.

No Christmas schedule is complete without the annual tradition: "A Space Ghost Christmas".

VB weeknight ratings aren't so good?

I doubt it has anything to do with ratings, it's just that VB doesn't have many episodes at this point. It would quickly get run into the ground if they kept airing it. They probably don't have much in the way of ratings for weekdays yet anyway considering it has only had 3 weekday airings so far.

ok that makes sense but it still seems sudden. will the weeknight run at least get through to the last episode? I don't want to wait through the saturday run to see it

You've got a mistake in the December schedule thread

Thursday December 9th

11:00/2:00 - Futurama - #3ACV03: A Tale of Two Santas
11:30/2:30 - Family Guy - #2ACX13: E. Peterbus Unum
12:00/3:00 - Tom Goes to the Mayor - #03: WWLaserz
12:15/3:15 - Sealab 2021 - #2407: Sharko's Machine
12:30/3:30 - Fullmetal Alchemist - #5: The Man With the Mechanical Arm
1:00/4:00 - Ghost in the Shell - #5: Decoy
1:30/4:30 - Witch Hunter Robin - #5: Rice Cakes Stretching and ShrinkingMy guess is that should be Super Milk Chan :p

Now the fact I actually had to stop and think about it for a couple of seconds (as in "hmmm, I don't remember a episode of WHR being called that?" ) was kind of amusing ;)

So is it safe to assume that the Venture Christmas special won't be picking up where the series left off, then?

Nope. Series creator Jackson Publick says this on his LiveJournal: (http://www.livejournal.com/users/jacksonpublick)

...And there's also the upcoming Christmas short, which will air I don't know when. Continuity-wise, it takes place some time during the course of this first season--before the events depicted in "Trial of the Monarch" and "Return to Spider-Skull Island". Think of it like that little scene at the end of Godfather 2, when they flash back to the whole Corleone family alive and well and gathered at the dinner table for Don Corleone's birthday, discussing Michael's enlisting in the army--only without Al Pacino or any Italian people. Well, I don' t know...the Monarch could be Italian, I guess.

No, as I mentioned up at the top of this thread, New Years Eve on Cartoon Network features a Hi Hi Puffy Ami Yumi marathon starting at 11PM. But new Years Eve also falls on a Friday, which isn't Adult Swim territory. That said, it is not out of the realm of possibility that AS could do something over the weekend, but I highly doubt it would be a full blown special. More then likely just new and wacky cards.
