View Full Version : Should I be in charge of Cartoon Network's programming or what?

If you didn't know here's the dish: I love the obscure cartoons from National Film Board of Canada! It's not every one's cup of tea because you either love it or hate it. But why did CN have to get rid of it?

It came on after Space Ghost Coast to Coast until Adult Swim came around. And even though Adult Swim added more shows I like than just one, why can't I have my cake and eat it too? With a few wise programming decisions CN could have O Canada and other great cartoons in place of Scooby and DBZ reruns. CN used to not milk their franchises for all their worth.

It's obvious that AOLTW has started to be rating-hungry, but just when CN gets original programming they overkill it.

Here is the ideal Cartoon Network schedual (fictional of course):

Prime time
8P-10P Cartoon Cartoons
10P-11P Hanna-Barbara
11P-12A Unedited Acme Hour
12A-1A Toonami
1A-2A Hanna-Barbara

Afternoons
8AM-9AM Toonami Rising Sun
9A Garfield
9:30A Peanuts
10A Dennis the Menese
10:30A Mother Goose and Grimm
11A-3P Boomerang
3P-5P Cartoon Cartoons
5P-8P Toonami

3A Earthworm Jim
3:30A Freakazoid
4A Slyvester and Tweety Mysteries
4:30A Taz-Mania
5A 2 Stupid Dogs
5:30A Gumby
6A-7A Writings On The Wall (like Toonheads, it explains the history of not-so-well-known series like Fish Police or Aeon Flex)
7A-8A Hanna-Barbara

Saturday
8AM-12PM Looney Tunes
12P-3P Toonami
3P-6P Super Chunk
6P-7P Cartoon Cartoons
7P=9P Cartoon Theater
9P Rocky and Bullwinkle
9:30P George of the Jungle
10P Dudley Do Right
10:30P Under Dog
11A-12A Cartoon Planet
12A-1A Unedited Toonheads
1A-2A Silent Cartoons

12P-2P Cartoon Theater
2P-6P Boomerang Block
6P-7P Cartoon Cartoons
7P Friz Frelang Show
7:30P Tex Avery Show
8P Samaurai Jack
8:30P Justice League
9P New Popeye
9:30P Bob Clampett
10P-12A Adult Swim
1A-2A Late Night Black and White

Monday

8P Samurai Jack
8:30P Justice League
9P O Canada
9:30P International Cartoons
10P Pink Panther
10:30P Inspecter Gadget
11P Dilbert
11:30P Baby Blues
12A-1A Toonami
1A-2A Unedited Toonheads

Friday

8P-12A CCF
12A-1A Toonami
1A SJ unedited
1:30A JL unedited

What do you think should I be in charge of Cartoon Network's programming or what?

You get the job if you add the Paramount, Lantz, and Columbia cartoons in someplace.

I like how you brought back the Pink Panther and the Hanna-Barbera cartoons, and I noticed you seriously cut back on Cartoon Cartoons.

And don't forget the Terrytoons! (Yes, I know, but there's nothing wrong with a harmless fantasy like that, is there?)

Time to click your heels three times and head back to Kansas, Dorothy. I've just seen the wicked witch of Burbank a headin' this way - and she's carryin' her EDITIN' scissors!

You got my vote when you listed O Canada and the International Cartoons, but Lantz shorts would be nice too.

Gossamer rocks! I thought I was the only one to like foreign toons. ;)

Anyway I left room for any classics you want in the unedited Acme Hour and Toon heads. Notice how I stress quality over quantity when I decided to show classics only at night so they could be less censored and in their theater format.

Hey, Pal! 'Mind if you squeeze in Inspector Gadget and the Catillac Cats?

I was actually thinking of putting Inspecter Gadget! Instead of an hour of Pink Panther on Monday, I was thinking this would be a good lead in:

Monday

10P Pink Panther
10:30 Inspecter Gadget

I don't know what Catillac Cats is, but if it's an anime it would fit in Adult Swim or Toonami

If it is a short lived show it would fit in perfectly in my custom-made Writings On The Wall: Short Lived Series or something like that. It would have bumpers and promos explaining a half-hour show a la Toonheads. They would air every episode ever made (which wouldn't be much) of short lived series like Fish Police, Aeon Flex, and The Alvin Show.

"Catillac Cats" was a segment on "Heathcliff".
