They put this small survey up on their website concerning their new “post 9pm” look. Basically, they’re trying to determine whether or not the new look appeals to older audiences. It probably won’t be a determining factor, but they’re actually bothering to ask for our input on their advertising methods, so I’m sure the least we can do is leave them a response that hopefully doesn’t give them the idea that we want “Keep it Weird” back. Personally I said that this look should apply to the station earlier in the day, but that’s just me.

Most importantly, they ask you what you think of the voice in the ads. Please answer truthfully.

That 'keep it weird' design was horrible. I moved to Canada in late 99 and I'm glad they finally got rid of it (how long was it up before then?)

The new design works a lot better, though (and I mentioned this in the survey) I wish they'd use better sound effects. Otherwise the last two character designs were good, but the first one was too 'keep it weird'

I'd perfer someone with a little deeper voice doing the ads, but he's not bad.

Nah... the only time that voice sounds any good is during Bionix, and that's because they put him through a synthesizer. He just can't pull it off.

I like the little guy who picks up change with the magnet and (of course) the robot who fights with the YTV logo during some of the bumpers, but I can't say I really like any of the other ones. I wish they'd just rid of the idea of using "characters" in the bumpers...

Keep it Weird started in fall of 99, and technically hasn't stopped. They just got rid of it post-9pm. I'm really amazed that they did, because of all the things people were complaining about since Corus took over, the consistent advertising style for ALL of their programming was the one which they simply would not budge on.

Hehe... I remember "Keep it WEIRD!!!! with Y-TV" when I went to Montreal. It certainly had energy, I'll give it that. ;)

I'm glad that they're at least curious about what we think of the design.

You know, it's really depressing how much money Corus invests into their advertising. I'm still convinced that the study they did that resulted in Keep it Weird was totally quack.
