View Full Version : The TNBA logo looks horrible...
I think the bat logo, Batman wears in TNBA is horrible. I think the old one with the yellow background was a lot better.

I think it's cool. The whole costume returned to the original batman roots. I loved the TNBA series. I think I'm the only one 2..lol..

I completely agree, the new Bat symbol looks ugly. Its too pointy and unflattering. The old one with the yellow logo looks so much better. Frankly, the whole "redesign" look was just an excuse to cop out on detail.
The only improvement about Batman's new suit is that they got rid of the blue color. By the way the TNBA suit is NOT new. In episodes like "The Mechanic" you can Batman wearing the TNBA suit in the flasback scenes. The only new thing about that suit are the gloves.
I don't mind Batman wearing a bat without a background, but just the way that symbol is styled make the suit look horrible. It looks like a little kid drew that bat on his chest.
The yellow bckgrnd Bat was made for the 60's series where they wanted flashy campy colors....not that yellow is campy but it certainly does serve as something to aim at...and something to remember.
I guess the old design wasn't catchy 'nuff, but I still like the TNBA design best

I remember during Batman's 50th anniversary, they had comments in the Annual (or was it in a milestone issue?) from different people who had interesting anecdotes about Batman. Julius Schwartz was saying that when he first started working on Batman in the 60's, he knew he'd be around for the 50th anniversary. So he wanted to have an interesting story to tell. Basic upshot, according to Julius Schwartz, the reason that Batman was given the yellow logo was so that Julius would have something interesting to say.
Me, I prefer the reasoning from TDKR.

I agree and disagree. I absolutely love when things (or in the case of BTAS, EVERYTHING ;) ) are detailed so well, so I perfer BTAS. But I also love TNBA. Bruce Timm's new designs were lacking of detail, but for good reason. Timm revolutionized the simplicity of the characters' designs. Even I can copy a decent Batman now! The new designs make the animation more fluid and easier to perfect.

I definitely prefer the more rounded, fleshed out feel of B:TAS, but I like the TNBA suit better. The perfect design, in my opinion, would have been the TNBA suit done in the more detailed BTAS format. Personally, I definitely prefer the bat symbol on TNBA - it actually looks like a bat! You can't say that for the one in BTAS!

I like the year one symbol the best which is represented in the animated series as the plain pointy-black one from TNBAS. To me, it engulfs Batman's persona. A dark creature of the night, a shadow lurking in the dark, etc. It gives him a more ghostly feeling than a flashy "Hi, I'm Batman" feeling. Not to put down the yellow symbol. I do like that one too, but I think the year one symbol is the best because of it's simplicity and how it represents the Batman.

Isn't it the TNBA suit that Bruces dons when he first becomes Batman in Mask of the Phantasm? Those glowing bat eyes!

Although I prefer the old designs overall, I like the TNBA suit better. They got rid of the blue, got back to the pure Year One suit, and Bast looks more imposing. And since there's no yellow on the chest, the suit looks even darker and "moodier", which is a great improvement.

I agree with Salvor. I like how they ditched the blue and made it majority black with some grey tinted in. It makes him more imposing and menacing. Like in NEVER FEAR he just looked scary as hell!

But, much like Supe's "S", the yellow/black emblem is instantly recognisable. The suit in TNBA is much better with the plain bat, etc .... but I like the 'loud' symbol on my memorabilia!!

I really don't know how I feel about either symbol. I just know that overall, I prefer the BTAS designs, so I'm probably biased toward the yellow one. And maybe I'm the only one, but I liked the blue cape, boots and undies. Maybe just cause they were drawn better, i dunno. TNBA never really drew the creases and folds of the fabric like BTAS did. Also, the scallops on his gloves look cooler in BTAS too. TNBA just rarely looks REALLY good to me. Especially in still images. :)
I think you have a very good taste ;)
