View Full Version : Could the new VP of Programing and Scheduling bring good change?

I certainly hope so. Marc Buhaj is coming from Turner Asia and I think their CN's schedule is pretty good all things considered. So here's hoping the combo if Buhaj and Higgens will bring some good changes to our current horribly redudant Cartoon Network. If not... then at least I know who I'm complaining at or I know who's job I'd like to have

Higgins and Buhaj hopefully make a good team, and make CN's schedule look better. Maybe we should have a look at what Buhaj did over in Asia... and maybe he can supervise over a show for Cartoon Network.
We know that he'll be able to bring new shows over to CN.

He's from Asia... You know what that could potentially mean...
More Tom and Jerry, it's freak'n huge in Asia!

The only thing CN has to do with their scheduling is take shows that are repeated variious time through the day (or 4 times) and cut 'em from a few spots. That will automaticlly make room for more shows. Hopefully, he will get 'er done!!!! (I've been watching too much BCTV :p ) I think this good be potentially be great!!! :D :anime:

i guess this means he'll do the scheduling for toonami, miguzi, and fridays?

Why not general CN?

Toonami's fine, Miguzi needs a few twitches, but its fine, and Fridays also needs a little help. But come on, CN in general needs more help then all those.

Without a doubt.
Change Miguzi or change primetime but CHANGE SOMETHING.
CN daytime needs help BAD but I guess there isn't much that could change for the better. As long as CN still believe 4 episodes of Baby Looney Tunes a day is so essential. (I tell you that pre-school programing can't come soon enough).
Toonami is mostly handled by Akins and company but obviously he reports to the higher ups. Toonami at this point is about as good as it's gonna get. The only great thing they could do from this point would be to manage getting some longer Toonami shows on weekdays as well.
Here's hoping he can get Samurai Jack back on the general line-up. It's pretty popular in Asia.

While Akins and company have influence on Toonami scheduling, according to the press release, the new guy will be programming Toonami, along with the rest of the blocks and network (outside of Adult Swim).
As for what the new guy has done before, it is a little hard to tell based on India as they are a little behind us. Their Toonami has TOM2 and they are still premiering new episodes of Courage the Cowardly Dog.
Australia though is rather interesting. Their Toonami site (http://www.cartoonnetwork.com.au/asp/toonami/index.asp) beats ours and they are the first country I've noticed that is actually up to date with our Toonami style! While ultimately I think we have better shows, they do have Toonami 3 times a day:
Weekdays
7:30am - Dragonball GT
8:00am - T: Energon
4:30pm - Duel Masters (Soon: Samurai Jack)
5:00pm - Pokemon
5:30pm - Ultimate Muscle
6:00pm - Cyborg 009
9:00pm - DBGT
9:30pm - Ultimate Muscle
10:00pm - Cyborg 009
10:30pm - T: Energon
Weekends
9:30am - Astro Boy
4:00pm - Dragonball
4:30pm - He-Man
5:00pm - Astro Boy
5:30pm - Zoids Fuzors
Plus, overall, the CN Australia schedule is pretty cool.

He worked on Australia CN? This is gonna rock!!!
Aussie CN is great despite not having some of the great shows we do.
Now more than ever is there a possiblity of Toonami getting a prime time slot on weekdays.

I'd like to see the guys in the TZ news department get the chance to chat with these people. I'm sure everyone here at TZ (myself included) will have some serious questions for them.
A few suggestions:
1)Don't let Cartoon Network become a "retirement home". Not every show can be hit like the Batman/Superman cartoons or Pokemon or Yu-Gi-Oh! And if another network or syndication discards a series, they usually have a good reason (Totally Spies is the exception to this rule. And let's not forget CN's most famous example: Sailor Moon.)
2)NO preschooler programming on Boomerang! Disney, Nick, and Kids' Thirteen will fill the Minimum Adult Daily requirements for the little ones. You need to think about those poor older kids stuck at home all day with a cold (real or imagined.) As for CN, keep the preschooler stuff down to four hours a day. And don't you forget those poor older kids with real (or imaginary) colds, either.
When I think of a few more suggestions, I'll post them.
Last time a big change at CN happened that could effect the schedule, you guys thought it'd bring good. And right now you guys are complaining, so dont bring your hopes up.
I do like the fact he worked in Aussie. I used to live there, and loved the schedule. Then again, at that time it wasnt much different than the USA [99]
Still hes Vice President, so he'll have alot of power, but theres still one person that may one to keep the same format.

Yeah but Higgens seemed like a swell guy. He afterall was the one to say Toonami will be around "forever". Who was the previous VP BTW? I forget who exactly.

Their Toonami site (http://www.cartoonnetwork.com.au/asp/toonami/index.asp) beats ours and they are the first country I've noticed that is actually up to date with our Toonami style! That website looked like that a few months ago. All they did was a color modification.

And I see that Hyper Sensei continues to spell Higgins wrong. Oh well, that's one redeemable quality about him.
Well, let's just hope he brings back shows such as Cow and Chicken, Mike, Lu, and Og, and Robot Jones (I never got to see it) to a reasonable time slot. Dexter got a chance. Now let's see it happen from a different angle. Cow and Chicken on the weekday afternoon slot would be nice to see (aired with the I Am Weasel slots, in the respective order, with the right ending). Put 'er on at 3.5p.

What, no InuYasha? :P

My thoughts exactly. I mean if they can air EVA on Aussie CN then certainly they could air Inuyasha perhaps even on Toonami like it is in Latin America.

No Inu Yasha on their Toonami or Adult Swim and I doubt IY would work on their Toonami. They have a lot of shows, but they don't really have anything on the Yu Yu Hakusho, Gundam or Kenshin level. These days I think U.S. Adult Swim could probably air EVA, they probably just don't want to.
Andrew T. Hingson

Oh yeah, Wolf's Rain proved if EVA was on CN it could air on Adult Swim near uncut if not uncut.
I guess they don't have anything on the Kenshin or YYH level there but they air Cyborg 009 and it's about on that level as well.

But would we really want to see Eva on Adult Swim?
I know I wouldn't. But that's just me.
Still it does bode well for CN in general. But only time will tell. Hopefully maybe we won't see so much repetition of shows on a daily basis.

I can't be happier if they show the classic like Tom & Jerry. They might implement the Sunday 7pm of classic. You know for 2-3 hours (4 maybe?) they show things like Flintstons, Chuck Jones show and Tom & Jerry and such.

That'd be nice. CN should give Sunday night more focus but at the moment it's basically for premieres of TS and Atomic Betty as well as encores of Fridays and CN action original shows. I'd say it shouldn't be so hard to move those though.
