What did everyone think of her? She was the standout character for me, but I'm a big Wonder Woman fan. Any thoughts?

Personally, she was a bit of a miss for me. But it really has to do with the voice acting which I'm sure will improve over the series. My opinion could (and likely will) change over the course of the season.

For me, she was a hit. Not having a previous appearance to base her on (ie Flash) makes it tough, but I really lke her. I'm curious to see how her relative niavete (sp?) and inexperience are dealt with. COuld be interesting.

What did everyone think of the design? Did you all like her attitude? What about her performance in the action sequences, how would you rate her?
Personally I loved the design. I thought her attitude was very character-defining. And in those action sequences she kicked more aliem bootie than most of the other team members.

I thought WW was pretty cool. Her voice made her sound kinda of young but I can deal with it. The interaction with her and Batman were quite interesting.

She did sound young, but I could accept Wonder Woman as a younger character. I liked her innocence--"We don't have iced mocha on Themyscira!" Her weapons (her wrist guantlets and lasso) were actually useful! I can't wait to see her character develop.

I've always been a HUGE Wonder Woman fan (big surprise, eh? ;)) so of course she was my favorite character. I actually like the live action (Lynda Carter) version of her best (she's the sweetest in that one) so the arrogant attitude is hard for me to adjust to. That aside, I thought the drawings of her were fantastic (see my avatar, lol) and the action sequences rocked. Her bracelets and lasso were used to best advantage, though her flying ability could have been used a bit more. But that fits with her inexperience with team fighting, so it all fit well imo. I do wish her voice were a bit more regal rather than her attitude, but this way works too. I can hardly wait to see what they do next! :)

I thought the design was great. I always thought she'd speak with a bit of an accent though.

She's monotone. Not horribly though. She needs more influction in her voice and more oomph when she is lifting heavy objects or fighting.

I thought it was cool how calm she was. When she deflected the lasers from Hawkgirl...and then when she saw J'onn was in trouble, and kind of nonchalantly beat off two attacking invaders and flew through a third...

Too early to tell. I personally love Wonder Woman simply because she's a strong woman figure (my number one fave is She-Ra though). I've always known her to be a veteran in the DC universe, so seeing her as the "rookie" was the opposite of that role. I wasn't fond of the "rookie" aspect of her in the premiere, but she has some great moments, such as her battle scenes. I like the voice, thought acting wasn't great especially in comparison to the others. I'm hoping it'll get better, I'm already warming up to George Newborn's voice. ;) I'm happy with the way they animated her too. She definitely looks strong and carries herself well, despite how young they make her seem with her lines and her origin into the JL. So it'll take a few more eps with her to actually get me deciding how I really like this rendition of Wonder Woman. :)

Y'know, she still handled herself well for a "rookie." Maybe a little too well. I know that she's an Amazon warrior, but there's a big difference between fighting mythological monsters and fighting an alien menace.

I don't know why, but that just struck me as funny. I guess you're probably right, but how can you be sure?

Well, I can't say that I've done either, but one is a terrestrial threat (a known enemy to an Amazon) and the other is an extraterrestrial threat (one that a rookie like Wonder Woman would have no prior experience with).

I'm not sure it takes any more experience to overcome an extraterrestrial threat than it does to overcome any mythical monsters. I'm sure every mythical monster is unique and overcoming one doesn't mean you can therefore overcome them all. I think the same can be said for these alien invaders in "Secret Origins." I don't think that fighting one alien group prepares you to fight all alien groups. Wonder Woman is a born fighter and she will use that ability in all her encounters no matter who she's up against. So, I don't think it's fair to say she performed too well simply because she's only fought mythical creatures.

Did anyone notice how MM referred to her as Wonder Woman during "In Darkest Night"? In SO she was always referred to as Diana. I wonder what changed?

I missed seeing WW in the most recent ep. I'm glad they don't feel compelled to jam every character into each ep, though.
Anyway, I just wanted to say that I wasn't much of a Wonder Woman fan before. Actually, I couldn't understand why anyone would like her at all.
But I thought she was great in the JL series. For the first time, I thought she was sexy and tough. I'd never thought of her as either, before.
I just hope that she can come across as a bit less haughty in the future. Perhaps it's just her vocabulary; I'll have to watch again.
Anyway, I can't wait to see an episode which gives Diana the spotlight.

Maybe Lois Lane named her in between episodes (the "WW" on her breastplate + her off-handed comment to Mala in Blast From the Past = superhero name!).

I'm not sure why yet, but I just am not liking WW's outfit. The bracelets and tiara are cool. Even the lasso is a nice touch, but I'm just not a fan of that "grandma type" underwear or the high heeled boots. She needs some new digs. The look is OK in the comics, but I don't think it carries well into the animated venue.
The voice acting needs some polishing, but sounds promising. She just needs a bit more "uummpphh" behind what she says. She needs to be a bit more athoritative.
Overall, I like her!!!

Totally a hit!
Read my "Diana Rules" thread for my reasons.
From visual to personality to voice, TAS Diana totally rocks.

I personally adore the revamped Wonder Woman from the 80's George Perez series, so I've had some trouble getting used to the JL Wonder Woman.
Firstly, her breast-plate/logo is simpler than the one I like (see Adventures in the DC Universe) and her proportions are very off. Because her upper torso is so small and her legs are so long, she looks more like Sailor Moon than a normal woman, much less a "Timm" woman. You'll see what I mean when you see her standing next to HG, who is relatively in proprotion. Can't Diana be gorgeous without being unrealistic?
Her voice actress is pretty good (I've only seen S.O.), but when she says "He-ra-give-me-strength.." I just have to laugh! She needs to work on the "Hera" talk.
Personality-wise, she's naive ( :) ), a good warrior ( :) ) and not the stuck-up royal pain-the-butt I thought they were going to make her ( :) ). I thought she looked kinda silly constantly using her bracelets to deflect things in the Pilot, but whateva! Is her lasso a "Lasso of Truth"?
I liked the glimpses of her origins, but it left me craving more, much more! Was there a tournament? Is Ares the reason for her quest to "Man's World"? I really hope so. The Gods, though kinda fluffy, were interesting to see in the WW comics and Ares is such a neat villain. You can't beat him, and you know he'll keep on doing his thing, yet Diana can't ever let him overtake man-kind. Plus, her strong belief in Gods that stopped being worshipped centuries ago could raise some interesting questions on religion. I mean at some point, some one is going to want to ask her "What do you mean, 'Hera ' ?" I think it could make for an interesting conversation between MM, Supes and WW. Didn't they all worship different Gods? It could even be touched on in a Holiday episode (you know, in passing). Anyways, the Gods are a huge part of her life, and I hope they're influence is felt in her presence. But most of all, I really hope Ares is dealt with on JL.
S.O. seemed to give me the impression that she just left a magical Island to help stop the invasion, then decided to stay at the party even though her mother never gave her permission to go. Wonder Woman is such an iconic character in comic's history and her destiny has often been downsized to help integrate her with others. I hope they don't treat her like a "Super-heroine", but more like a "Legend". It'll be hard for her to share the spotlight with so many other beloved characters, but since she never got the animated series she deserved (and she did deserve a WW: TAS!), I hope she is a focal character on Justice League. She has all the potential!

I bet WW could wip Xena any day.

Well, enough of that. I do like the WW design. It does look a bit odd, but it works for me. I liked the way she used her bracelets. Compared to some of the other JL members, it is a pretty good defense. The lasso has been used in a good way so far. I hope the Lasso of Truth doesn't come into use. That would be a bit corny.

Not necessarily. Mark Waid did the best Lasso of Truth scene of all time in the JLA comic.
Basically a person under the lasso of truth can't lie *even to themselves*.
She managed to use it on one of Al Ghuls terrorist lackeys and posed the question "Are you really ready to die today"
Basically, the lasso enabled her to reach past all the zealot bull**** he'd talked himself into and convince him to stop.

One thing that did bother me was in SO you see the bracelets, tiara and lasso on a shine. but she seemed to use them like they were second nature. In the comic, the warriors walked around with similar (but not as fancy) bracelets. It was part of their training. I hope they go into it, as well as her other powers, in her story. Especially since they seem to be changing her origin from the comic's origin.

I think they probably will go into her background some more. I'm hoping Wonder Woman is one of the characters they choose to do alot of focusing on, after all she is the third of the "big three" (the other two being Superman and Batman of course)

I hope so too. She's probably the most recognizeable female hero in the world and she's never had her own animated show. It's about time Wonder Woman get her due in my opinion. :D

I thought I read somewhere that an upcoming ep of the JL will send Diana & some of the JL back to Themyscria to deal with the ramifications of her actions, and also delve more into Amazon society and WW's origin specifically. Julie Bowen (from "Ed") has also been listed publically as providing a voice for an Amazon (or that she's providing a voice, and a separate article talked about her being an Amazon).
I guess we're just going to have to be patient. I want the Hawkgirl origin, personally, but I'm curious to see what they do with WW, too.
I think my fave depicition of Diana was in Mark Waid's _Kingdom Come_, but both Grant Morrison and Waid have done good things with her in the _Justice League_ comics as well. I always liked how Diana was such a quiet, but firm, presence in Morrison's league. In the _New World Order_ arc, she doesn't have half the dialogue of Batman or GL, say, but somehow, you never fail to feel her presence. Her attempt to put Kyle at ease in the first issue was something I wouldn't expect from any other member, except maybe Superman.
As for the "Lasso of Truth" thing someone else mentioned, there was a super-size JLA annual which did something amusing with it as well, involving WW and Aquaman. It boils down to Aquaman saying more than he really should to Diana about his feelings towards the League, and her specifically. It was reprinted in one of the JL trade paperbacks (_Justice for All_, I think), and is almost worth the price of admission alone.

I also heard that there will be an episode on Paradise Island that would deal with Wonder Woman's relationship with her mother. I think it's probably the same on you're talking about. However, I didn't hear that it would discuss her origin specifically, but it is possible. The episode will feature Felix Faust as the villain.

Actually, It is reprinted in Tower of Babel. If that book isn't worth picking up, then you obviously don't like the League. :)

I found JL Wonder Woman rather boring. As for comic Wonder Woman . . . well, the writers seem to do what they please with her, so her portrayal there is rather inconsistent. But I like Rucka's run on her book so far.
BTW, I highly recommend this Wonder Woman based site:
