According to Ervin-Gore, the Dark Horse/Chaos! volume and the DC volume come as two sides of the same coin, representing the multitude of expression that can be achieved through sequential art and pin-ups, but at the same time, representing outlets for creators’ emotions and thoughts surrounding the attacks. For example, while the Dark Horse/Chaos! volume will include both personal reflections and metaphoric stories set in fantastic and historic settings, the DC volume will contain some stories set in fantastic settings more familiar to the typical comic book reader, with Gotham City and Kurt Busiek’s Astro City named as two such locations. Although Ervin-Gore points out that the stories set in “comic book” locations will be just as personal and intimate as any in the Dark Horse/Chaos! volume.
