A friend taped the show for me on Saturday and I have since watched it three times! I've dying to see what you guys thought, but since I couldn't go online, I missed all the initial hullaboloo here: I hear that Bruce Timm dropped by! Very cool! Now, down to buisness...

I was a little disappointed with the intro CGI images, but I already mentionned that on another post.

I liked how the film began with Batman and Superman and it didn't just throw us into unfamiliar waters. Smart move. What did bother me though was the way that GL and Hawkgirl just appeared out of nowhere to "help". How exactly they both knew they were needed there is anyones guess. Oh, wait, MM said he summond them telepathically! Those visions of Superman's were visibly painful. I wonder why MM's telepathic messages are so hard for even super-heroes to take? In anycase, I felt that mountain scene was just too much too fast.

I really enjoyed seeing Diana on Paradise Island before appearing as Wonder Woman. I too hope that her past is touched upon. At the end of JLAdventures #1, they say that she is the Amazonian Embassador in Man's World, so maybe the whole turnament to become Wonder Woman (comic's history) did take place. All in all, a female character as iconic as Wonder Woman deserves to have her origins more fully explained. We'll hopefully see more in her episode on P.I. with that wizard guy.

I liked the alien invasion story, even if it was a bit cliche. After all, what less would bring these people together? MM was very well handled, and is now my new favorite character, next to Diana. Flash was cool to see, but a pain to listen too. Between his jokes and the mental image of Lex Luthor from Smallville, I had a hard time with him. GL was Ok, nothing more. I've never seen "Shaft", so I can't compare, but his voice does sound a little like Mr. T. Hawkgirl seriously needs a background! Flash, we know, GL we're familiar with, but to expect a winged-woman to just be known in the animated universe is a bit of a stretch.

As for the animation, my only real complaint is that it looks a lot like Batman Beyond. I don't enjoy the "thin lines" style they're using. I miss the bolder "thick lines" we're so used to seeing from Bruce Timm. The characters looked as if they were drawn on computer and the their colors were just "paint-bucketed" in, which is probably what they did! Some nice things we're the stretching upper arms of the "factory", the water behind the running Flash and Diana's flowing hair on P.I., even if we only saw it for 2 seconds! Batman's new look looked great too. I find his face looks more like the way Timm stylized it for B: TAS, which I really enjoyed.

The music was pretty good, except for the scene where Diana kicks alien butt in Egypt. The music there is justso chessy! I really hope these new characters get anthems, they deserve them!

A huge thing that was bothering me, was the reappearance of Batman at the end! Could someone explain to me how he escaped being trapped and cornered by the aliens in their factory in Egypt in time to get to Metropolis (or Gotham first, in order to figure out how to reverse the ion charge of a factory), get into that factory (undetected by MM's mental block-thingy..sure) and manage to surprise the aliens?!?!?! Even if he was mentally shielded, all the aliens had to do to see him was look at the Ion chamber-thingy!!! This was the only major plot turn that bothered me at all. If only it wasn't in the climax! Please, someone, anyone , explain this to me!

Aside from my critiques,I LOVED IT!!!

I look forward to trying to see new episodes (I live in Canada!), buying the toys, DTV's, DVD's, soundtrack (please!!!) and to chatting it up with you guys! Respond please, sorry for the long post but I've been wanting to write this since Saturday night!

Long live Batman: Animated, and thanks Bruce Timm and co!!! I once, depressed, wondered what could have been done with Batman if the team hadn't used all it's energy working on BB. Now I have an idea!
Splendiferous:)

How did Batman escape? Well...remember when he saw that the invaders were running from the sun. He turns and sees the sun and gets a thoughtful look on his face. I bet he used a flash bomb or something like he did earlier, and then just hoofed it out. That or J'onn shielded him from then on. They could have communicated telepathically...

I wonder if that had anything to do with the dampening field that was in place while he was being held captive. Maybe it came through like a scrambled cable channel in Superman's head, but with debilitating consequences. Nobody else seemed to suffer from MM migranes.

He did, and he may again in the future. I can't really go into more detail than that, but he was here (read the JL widescreen post in the newspage for proof).

Ah, that explains the trailing clouds of glory and the vanishing echo of angel choirs when I logged in earlier. :D
