The missing top and bottom of the screen did bother me, but overall it was kind of neat. Unfortunately, I didn't get to tape it because The Simpsons ran all the way til 8:30.

Haven't gotten a chance to watch it all, but it really didn't bother me from what I did see. In some ways, it looked kinda cool. Epic, y'know. But I'm still gonna tape the full frame version. Maybe it's a personal preference. But I will definitely tune into the widescreen to see what it's like, or at the very least to support it for those who DO like it.
