I remember hearing a few months before the movie opened, that there would be an animated series if the movie well. Since it was only out two weeks, I'm assuming this will never happen. Am I correct in assuming this?

Yup, the plug was quietly pulled.

The plug was pulled? I expected to here a announcement on this, even if it was done quietly. Not surprising, though. I remember seeing commercials hyping the movie and the show 'coming next fal on WB Kids!'.

That's funny, because Evolution bombed, yet it's cartoon got made (same with Godzilla: the Series).

ah, it couldn't stand up next to Shrek! It was good, tho.

The movie came out 4 months after Shrek. Shrek wasn't even in the top 40 when Osmosis Jones debuted.

Evolution didn't make that much money, but it made a ton more than Osmosis Jones... I think OJ barely broke 20 mill, if that.

OJ topped out ata round $16 mill, I think. I think the only reason the Evolution cartoon aired was becasue the episodes were already animated.

OJ made $13,596,911 (the-numbers.com)

Whoa, that's pretty low. I saw it, I didn't think it was all that bad.

I'm just curious, was it going to be completly animated or would it have had some live action sequences too? And one question for Dick Grayson. When did you see commercials advertising it as being a show on KWB? I never saw any.

I know the show would have been traditioanl 2-D animation. And when I saw it? There were commercials that aired during the weekday block a couple weeks before the movie premiered. They dissapeared as soon as the film tanked. The commercials were basically a plug for the movie with a new voice over saying that a spin off cartoon is in the works for 2002.

Well, maybe no animated series is for the best. I man after all, they may not have gotten Chris Rock, David Hyde Pierce, Brandy, and Ron Howard to come back. I don't think it would be the same without them. But I do have one question. If a petition were to be started, do you think we'd see the series? Or at least a direct-to-video sequel?

There is no way they'd get the voice actors to return. WB lost ALOT of money with this flop, and will likely just leave it alone. It's not as crticially acclaimed (not even close) as THE IRON GIANT so I think the current DVD/VHS release will be the last we see of it.

well it looks like it actually got made. it aired yesterday. and why is this on the entertainment board? Shouldn't it be on the general animation board?

edit: opps, sorry, didn't realize it was a year old. i'm truly, terribly, very sorry.
