At the end of "A League of Their Own, pt. II", it was stated that Static & Gear would join the League when they were older. Since there's probably 4 years between then & JLU, do you think they'd be part of the League?

As someone who is unfamiliar with Static Shock, how old are he and Gear in their series? I'd say the youngest member of the JLU is Supergirl (maybe The Star-Spangled Kid?), so we can try and guess from that. Surely there's an age restriction.

I REALLY hope they don't join the league. They got their own show, plus somehow I can't think of Virgil and Richie fighting a top-tier DC villain without laughing...

Virgil should b atleast 16 by now an with sum of tha nobody characters that we've seen thrown into JLU i see no reason to not throw Static and Gear in there especially since audiences no who they are. i mean they could jus put em in tha bac of a group shot but id love to see them in a JLU ep with some spotlight and workn with sum of tha Leaguers they neva met. but thas jus my opinion.
Virgil and Richie were around 16 by the end of Static Shock (they were 14 when it started, the series takes place over a few years).
Supergirl is 18-19 in JLU. I'm thinking they don't let minors join...but it's pretty obvious Static and Gear join at some point in the future.

I definately want to see Static at some point and if there is a god Rubberband Man. Gear is lame and I think I could just stomach a cameo from him. Unfortunately if we want to keep Batman Beyond in continuity (and I sure do) there will always be a fat Gear out there.
Virgil and Richie were about seventeen when the series ended.

Adult Static will appear in the JLU Season Finale with Batman/Terry and the rest of the future JLU.

Actually, I asked McDuffie and he kindly responded "Static is just shy of 16 at the season finale". So I would put him at 17~18, around Kara's age. I don't think we'll ever see Static and Gear permanently because Timm and co are out to write about specific DC super heroes, villains and events so focusing on two guys from a series that already had four seasons of characterization wouldn't be tooeffective.

His voice, his jokes, his stupid one earring. I think it would be important for him to cameo in an episode with Static for continuity's sake but honestly I want it to be a VERY small role.

I don't think Static would appear in JLU. At least not in his current state.
What would be cool, was if they did a Teen Titans-esque episode that featured the sidekicks. Static would fit in there as he'd be around their age.

See, I like Richie. I thought he worked well in the first two seasons. Turning him into Gear was a bad idea. I'm pretty sure that it wasn't the writers' decision though.

I'm pretty sure that it wasn't the writers' decision though.I was fine with Richie in the first two seasons too. I liked Sons of the Fathers a lot. But once he put on that stupid helmet I started to resent him. This is STATIC'S show! All of those crossovers and guest stars didn't help. They started to get back to that in season four (Hoop Squad excepted of course). I also felt that perhaps WB felt SS was too "urban" and insisted a white superhero to broaden the show's audience. I kind of resented that too.
I know BTAS faced a similar situation when Fox wanted the producers to add Robin to the show. But here the creators took a formerly uncool character and made him personable and sympathetic (Christmas With the Joker excepted). If Static's producers had actually made Gear COOL instead of the guy who either gets kidnapped or taken out of action every episode I'd have been fine with it. But they didn't and we were left with a VERY lame character.

IIRC, it came out of some focus group or another.
I'm all for Static showing up on JLU, though, if only it gets him a shot at being an action figure finally.

*gag* I think I'll take the route of all the Batman Beyond haters out there and create my own personal DCAU canon in which the parts I don't like don't exist. I hope Gear and Static never appear in JLU. Sorry Static fans, the show was too kiddy for me. The Batman/Justice League crossovers were okay (emphasis just on okay), but the rest were just not enjoyable. Maybe I'm in the minority here, but as I said one other time, this is one minority I'm very pleased to be a part of.
I'm very much looking forward to seeing JLU in the season finale, however.

I think it would be pretty cool to see static in the JLU, I mean, JLU has sort of been two things. 1. A chance to see new heroes and villians and how they all interact, and 2. A chance to see old DCAU animated heroes again now that their shows are done.Static sort of fits in both catagories, and they already have his voice actor...

That was very insightful.:)

Yarharhar's avatar makes me think that Bwanna Beast should combine Static and Gear into one person. Hilarity would, of course, ensue. That I wouldn't mind seeing.

I dunno about Gear, but Static is perfect for the JL, but his powers could challenge that of Black Lightning. But oh well.

Static and Gear will show up if a script calls for it. I doubt that they'll just appear for no reason. If Dwayne McDuffie has a good reason for an appearance then they will.
