AMERICAN DAD/FAMILY GUY (FOX) - To help promote Seth MacFarlane's latest animated effort, 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment plans to release "Family Guy: The Freakin' Sweet Collection" on December 14. The single-disc set will feature five of MacFarlane's favorite episodes from the show's second and third seasons, including the original, uncensored version of "Road to Rhode Island" with optional commentary by the cast and crew. Also included will be interviews with MacFarlane about both "American Dad," which premieres on Sunday nights this January on FOX, and the upcoming fourth season of "Family Guy." The release features an MSRP of $19.99.
Not much except the original version of Road To Rhode Island.

Yeah, I saw this on amazon.com and was a bit confused, as there wasn't a description available. But I see, this is basically a Best-Of set.

Eh, I'm not going to buy it, simply because I already have Family Guy Seasons 1-3, and I have the deleted Road to Rhode Island scene on my computer anyway.

One quick question: Will the interviews include CLIPS from the 4th season of Family Guy? Because that might spark a little curiosity.

I'll buy this just for the Brian and Stewie commentary on ROAD TO RHODE ISLAND. That should be a riot! :D

From TVShowsOnDVD.com...

We told you yesterday that Family Guy - The Freakin' Sweet Collection: The Best of the Family Guy is coming to DVD on 12/14/2004. Now Fox Home Entertainment has sent over the details of this release. You'll find that this disc, as we said, comes with 5 episodes and some extras, and has an SRP in the USA of $19.98, and a CAN$25.98 SRP in Canada. Here's the Fox synopsis:

Get ready for five deliciously absurd chapters in the lives of America's most twisted animated family! These are the hand-picked, hands-down favorite episodes of Seth MacFarlane, the delightfully demented genius behind "Family Guy". He'll also treat you to an inside look at the long-awaited return of the series, as well as his newest TV brainchild, "American Dad." What a guy. What a family. What a "Family Guy" treat!

"When You Wish Upon a Weinstein"
"Road to Rhode Island" with optional Commentary by Brian and Stewie
"To Love and Die in Dixie" with optional Commentary by Seth MacFarlane, Dan Palladino, Steve Callaghan, Danny Smith, Mike Henry
"I Am Peter, Hear Me Roar" with optional commentary by Seth MacFarlane, Chris Sheridan, Alex Borstein and Craig Hoffman
"Lethal Weapons" with optional commentary by Seth MacFarlane, Chris Sheridan, Garret Donavan and Steve Callaghan
Bonus Material:
Preview of American Dad

Seth MacFarlane talks about Family Guy Season 4

Specs for this set are: 1.33:1 Video, English Dolby Surround, Spanish Dolby Surround, French Stereo, and Subtitled in English and Spanish. Running time is 115 minutes. Stay tuned for cover art, just as soon as Fox makes it available.
The uncut Road To Rhode Island and bonus material would be the only thing that would tempt me to buy that DVD...

I think I'm gonna get this, just for the new stuff, and uncut ep. Although I've seen a little bit of American Dad, I hope this has more.

REALLY sorry to double post, but is this commentary new, or from the other DVDs?

Two of the commentaries are new, the others are uncut versions of the ones that were edited by FOX on the first set.

The commentaries are enticing, but I think I'd rather rent this than buy it. Unless I can find it for like, $10.

Since I don't have the first FG DVD set, this is good news. Just can't wait for that American Dad goodness! Hopefully there's more of the pilot than what I've already seen.

Is the whole deal of "Road to Rhode Island" about that Osama joke?

I bet the American Dad preview is just the pilot that was on the net a few months back

Also, aren't these the same episodes as the Best of Family Guy thing AS had? If so, the Seth clips would be nice.

I think the commentary is new, don't know if they'll include the uncut version of the relationship video gag.

I already own the two volumes on DVD, I don't think it'll be anything of concern for me unless it was really cheap.

The relationship video had a longer version with nudity. It was never intended to air. You can look around and find the clip online.

Interesting. However, if I purchase it, I'll probably wait a bit and get it used.
