I just wanted to let you guys know that there are two brand new, never before seen, episodes of "Dexter's Lab" airing tonight at 7:00 PM EST, as part of the "Dexter Goes Global" marathon.

I've got my VCR set, Ive got a question about this dexter goes global thing. They play the show that was voted #1 in each country, what if they are the same?(I doubt they would play two of the same episodes in one marathon)

Hmm...good question, if Jon doesn't know, we may just have to wait and see.

If two countries chose the same top epsiode, they will play that episode and probably use one of the country's second choices to play instead.
With all the language barriers and cultural differances, I don't think we'll pick the same episode anyways. People mentioned Mock 5 and some others being their fav....well Speed Racer didn't make quite the same impact in say...South America or Australia as it did in the USA. Understand what I mean?

You know how they left choices off the American website? Maybe they put those on the foreign sites?

Hmm...that's a strong possibility.

I DO NOT like the changed char. designs
The design changes are really minor to the characters, I think. Not nearly as drastic or different looking as the ones posted earlier. I'm happy about that. A lot would have been taken away from Dexter's expressiveness if he looked that squatty.
I was surprised to see that they changed the background style. The backgrounds in the previous seasons had a very smooth, bright, plastic-like quality to them, now they are more flat, earth colored, and painterly. They look a lot like old Hanna-Barbera shorts or "Golden Books." I think I like these new backgrounds more.

I kind of repelled the first few seconds -- the new episodes are different in small ways -- Dexter's bedroom has changed, dad looked different, the house looked different, the town looked different, etc. But it all went away when I realized what I was watching was really funny. I loved them. And I can handle the new character designs. I can't wait for more new episodes.
...Dexter's voice seemed a tad different. But it still was okay.

The main differances in the new episodes was the background and character designs. Perhaps you could cope with the new looking Dexter and family, but the backgrounds were almost a 180° turn from before. The old backgrounds were noted for their use of soild colors and similarly color lines (lighter or darker) to show detail.
In the new episodes you'll notice the enviroments have been overly simplified and with more bold and rich colors. This is unique, yet personally distracting to me. I always was drawn to the brightness of the characters from their bright colors (such as the hair, skin, and clothing) but now I feel like they are competing with the background...there was a sceen with a yellow colored wall...almost the same hue as Dee Dee's hair...my eyes were going to pop out.
Also, what's the deal with Monkey and the duck? That made no sense to me. Oh well...

I liked all of the new dexter except for that duck cartoon. it was just weird. a little more than TV-G.

What's up with DeeDee? Allison Moore is doing her voice again after leaving the series after the first season. I always thought she was better than Kat Kressida anyway.

Actually, I prefered Kat Cressida as the voice of Dee Dee.
But you wanna talk pushing the TV-G rating: check out how Mandark was disguising himself as Mom. Yikes. Overall, they were OK eps. Hopefully, something will come along that ascends to the realm of classic.

Here a few comments I have now that I've seen the new style in action.
Dexter: Dex really doesnt look all that bad, definitely not as bad as most of us thought he'd look. Differences are an even tinier body and only one button on the lab coat. My one big gripe is the Barney Rubble 'dot eyes' seen when Dexter takes off his glasses. It has been established that Dexter has larger eyes when he takes off his glasses. Why change it.
DeeDee: As the second season went on, DeeDee's design became more and more simple, with less hints towards her wilder, season 1 personality. Kat Kressida's voice was absolutely obnoxious at times, and I was relieved to hear Allison Moore again performing her. DeeDee looks really good in the episodes aired so far, and I'm happy that there is more life in her facial expressions again.
Mom: Although a little more stylized, Mom looks great, easily the least tampered with character. I really do not have much more to say about her, since she's pretty much the same as always.
Dad: Someone please, give us back our old Dad design. He looks kinda like the old dad, but not enough. Jeff Bennet is still doing a wonderful job voicing the character, but the visuals take away from the voice. What's with the pants and shoes being one solid color without seperation? It makes him look like a character from the Fairly Oddparents. I'm let down by Dad, but maybe things will get better.
Mandark: He looks ok, but since he spends so much of his time dressed as Mom in "Momdark". it's hard to judge the quality of his design. His lips need a little work though.
Monkey: Monkey looks the exact same as always. In fact, I'd say he looks even better. Thanks guys, for not screwing around with our favorite simian (sorry Mojo and I.R.)
Background characters and visual style: I'm only gonna say one thing...this is Dexter's Lab, not the Powerpuff Girls. Why redesign everything to match the look of PPG?

FYI, "Momdark" was based on the Dexter's Lab #5 comic.

I'm pretty confident that the new Dexters looked like the powerpuff girls because they were animated by the same people, this is just a guess based on simply watching a lot of both, if someone could clarify this for me that would be great.
