Meijers had it at midnight, I waited for four hours but got to know some cool people lol. Rogue Leader is all I got for games, its sweet! I think this is gonna be the most successful of the new gaming systems. Anyone else go at midnight? I saw some campers at Best Buy waiting till 5 or 6 or whenever, I wanted to wave it in the air as we drove by but I thought Id drop it.

sweet nass...I was wondering if you'd get one.. :)

Even for a video game system..I don't know why people would camp out......anyway..

I guess I could say I "have" one..but in reality, I've had it since September....

Our local Fred Myers store opened up at 7 this morning and they had 32 units available. I got there at 6:15 and only got to wait 45 minutes. They were handing out numbers as people showed up. Since it was so cold outside they let us in and stand outside the electronics department. Anyways, by the time they started selling them, they were only up to number 20. They were short on memory cards but I got one sice I was number 8. They only had 3 different games, Luigi, Wave Race and Monkey Ball. Toys R Us opens up at 10 so I might go and see if they have Star Wars and Batman Vegenance.

One guy that was there got there at 9 p.m. the night before. Good God! When I was at TRU at 7 last night, there were 4 guys waiting outside with chairs and sleeping bags. The manager inside told me they had enough units to get them through the first day. Die hard fans I guess. Toys R Us is a 30 minute drive from my town so I just opted to stay with Fred Myers in town.

I went to Hollywood Video Saturday afternoon and they had Gamecube games for rent so I picked up Luigi, Star Wars, and Wave Race. They didn't even have Batman to rent. :( No way was I buying a system and not have something to play. :) I can't wait for Super Smash Bros. on December 3!

I've got it on reserve and the store doesn't open till 12:30 in the afternoon (grumble), but I'll be going early in hopes of scoring a black one and Luigi's Mansion. I've already got Rogue Squadron II though, so just as long as I get a system I'll be one happy Hatter.

I'm planning on getting it for a birthday/Christmas present. I'll be 13 on December 4th. If they don't have Simpsons Road Rage, I'll be getting Batman Vengence.

- Foley Is Good

BTW - Batman Vengence was not a launch title. It will be released the 27th of this month.

My Dad went to get mine as well, but I can't play it till December 25. Hatter, please tell me how Luigi's Mansion is, I've been wanting to play that for awhile.

How much is the system by itself?

It's about $199 by itself.

Luigi's Mansion is pretty cool. As you advance in the game, it becomes more of a puzzle on how to catch the ghosts. Using the vaccume and flashlight is a little tricky at first, but you get used to the control of the game. The cinematic portions of the game are great too. I rented it, so I'll have it till' Thursday, but based on what I've played so far, I might beat it by then. It's a pretty beautiful game too BTW.

Rogue Squadron is GREAT! Very beautiful, the music is great, over all excellent. I might pick it up sometime soon.

As long as we're on the launch subject, anyone seen that Metal Gear Solid 2 on Gamecube? I hadn't heard anything about it since Mad Hatter brought it up before. Id say thats the second game I get if I see it.

The Metal Gear thing turned out to be a big hoax perpetuated by a formerly reputable gaming site. Grrrr....

Luigi's Mansion is great! I'm having a lot of fun with it, and the puzzles are pretty neat. The physics on the vacuum cleaner are great too. However, I've heard that it's pretty short, so you might want to rent it and see. I just picked it up because I had some games to trade in anyway.

Near as I can tell, The Simpsons: Road Rage is a third-rate Crazy Taxi. Stay far away.

I knew it was a hoax..... IGN is now a sell-out website. I wanted to see their review on Luigi's Mansion but it costed 20 dollars to see it.

What should I get in Road Rage's place?

I got the my Gamecube 2 hours after the store opened, it was the last one but I got it in the color I wanted (Indigo)! I didn't get any games, memory card, or an extra controller (orange is hard to get but I think the Clear/Purple is cooler) at launch, but I am surprised at the happy outcome. :)

Not all is well, because I called up Blockbuster twice to be reaffirmed that they had Gamecube games today, just to walk up and find out the employee was mistaken and they will get them Tuesday.

Speaking of reputable businesses, can someone explain why I am going back to Blockbuster Tuesday? Answer: Because they are an anti-American monopoly and I have no choice!

That's good, I looking forward to it and Rouge Leader.

Depends on what you like. Wave Race, Rogue Leader, and Madden are all awesome. Or you could just get Crazy Taxi... it's a launch title too!

In my opinion Crazy Taxi isn't worth $50, so I'd say paying $15 was deal. I mean, its a cool game and great concept but its so limited and has no real progression that I could never justify the $50 for the PS2 version.

yeah..the PS2 version of Crazy Taxi didn't get great reviews like the DC one did....

Because its the same exact game, there were absolutely no updates to it at all.

I would think, as old and "small" as Crazy Taxi is, they would just package that game and its sequel together. Sega wouldn't be losing anything, since Gamecube porting is so easy...

actually, it was because it wasn't exactly made by the same person..they somehow got Sega's license for it and tried to do somthing themselves..I dunno..there's a review of it up at ps2.ign.com..

Hey if anyone is considering buying Gamecube because of
Batman : Vengeance - hold out for XBOX.

XBOX is releasing Batman V as well and its a superior
system.

what you just said could be reversed ya know...it could be said:

GameCube is releasing Batman V as well and its a superior
system.

OR, it could also be applied to PS2's version of Vengeance as well.

See? Works both ways. The thing is, it's going to be the exact same game. The graphics can't improve that much, and, quite frankly, I'd rather spend $200 on a system rather than $300. Hence, my choice for a GameCube over a X-BOX

You get pretty much the same game for all systems, so I'd just get the version for whatever system you want to stick with and be happy.

Honestly, the technology is getting to the point that, to the layman, there's no real difference between the graphic quality of the PS2, the Gamecube, and the Xbox.

Besides, Microsquash's first party games, aside from Halo, are crap. :p

Don't forget when some games get ported the graphics may be the same but the controls can get screwed up Like Spider-Man On the PSX the Controls wre really good but on DC it felt a little crampt. Personally I love GCN controller all the buttions have a distinked feel to it The X-Box Controller is like a bulky DC controller and the actions buttions are to close together but it takes some getting use to.

Rouge Leader:
Awsome game any Star Wars fan will like it (Including myself) the secret levels Are awsome there's 5 I think

Oh yeah, Activision's team ported it and I learned that the 2nd City is actually unique for PS2 (and GC). They also changed the voice over to supposedly crapier people...The graphics chanced in practically no way.

IGN doesn't have a review up but GameSpot gave Crazy Taxi for GC a 4.9, ouch!
