Who here are fans of rpg's or srpg's and what are some of your favorite titles?

my absolute favorites are strategy-RPG games like:

Final Fantasy Tactics
Front Mission 3
Disgaea : Hour of Darkness

I also like:

Fable
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
Skies of Arcadia
and Elder Scrolls III is decent

for some reason I never got into other FF games... never played Kingdom Hearts either. I'm probably not much of an RPG gamer compared to others here.

I'm oldschool.

Bard's Tale series
Eye of the Beholder 1&2
Pool of Radiance/Gold Box series
Baldur's Gate series (PC)
Icewind Dale series
Ultima 1-6

Did great RPG's die with Bioware? :crying: I may go dig up some antiquated Wizardry/Might and Magic games just for something new to play. (Since I missed those series the first time around)

Knights of the Old Republic has been the only thing remotely satisfying on consoles that I can recall. Japanese RPG's rarely give me enough influence over the stats/appearance of my characters to be satisfying, or they're entirely too linear. I hate being led around by the nose.

And this is the main reason I bought an X-box: the glimmer of hope given to me by KOTOR, Jade Empire, and a couple of others. Although, oddly enough, Morrowind didn't click with me. Maybe I'm too party-oriented. I'm thinking of giving it another shot.

I'm a big fan of the following:

Star Ocean: Second Story
Skies of Arcadia
Grandia II
Disgaea: Hour of Darkness
Final Fantasy VII - X
FF Tactics
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
Xenosaga Episode One: Der Wile Zur Macht

If we are also including more action oriented RPGs:

Brave Fencer Musashi

The Angry Gamer (http://www.insidepulse.com/article.php?contentid=28141) misses older RPG's too, though his primary reason differs slightly with mine.

EinBebop, have you tried Arx Fatalis for the Xbox? I don't particularly care for it, but it's supposed to be a lot like Ultima Underworld. But this one isn't party based, either, so I don't know if you'd like it.

As for me, I like a lot of different types of RPGs, both on consoles and PC. Both styles have their pros and cons. While I enjoy the role playing aspects of the PC style RPGs, I also enjoy the gameplay and storylines of a lot of console RPGs.

The only styles I usually don't play are pure hack and slash dungeon crawls, or turn based strategy RPGs, though there are a few exceptions for each.

Final Fantasy VII - The first console RPG that I ever really, really liked.
Shining Force - No matter how old this game is, I can always pick it up and play at any time.
Dragon Force - Addictive gameplay that killed many, many hours that could've been otherwise spent doing boring homework. :D
Final Fantasy Tactics - Cool storyline, and a healthy chunk of customization.
Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind - Electronic crack. 'Nuff said.

Really, I haven't played that many RPGs, but most of the number I have played I've generally liked. I have low standards, what can I say? >smiles<
