What is this? Is there a laugh track?

That coffin thing was cool.

haha, love the League of extraordinary Gentlemen parody. Great episode, that opening with the plane slowly skidding to a stop and stabbing through the coffin was awesome and I love the fact that Doctor Venture and all his villains and friends were college buddies. The laugh track is a joke off old sitcoms I'd assume.

LOL. Seeing Venture in college was great. Ironic that everyone went to the same place.

Looks like this new villain employs new age fembots. :p

whoah, those guys sure went too a weird college.
"Brock and I had... different schedules.":)
This is shaping up to be another good episode, plus the laugh track was pretty funny. I'm suprised the ghost pirates or the necromancer didn't go that college.

haha Jeez, what a fantastic episode. They really combined the two plots into one cohesive story culminating in that awesome Young Brock/Old Brock montage at the end. Can't think of a single bad thing. A+

boy, corpses, a crashlanding, widescreen and putting on the pants after helping the ant people. nice way to start.

wow... lots of hair on the doc sampson, ehh. and look at young helper. aah, a sitcom, ahh. oohhh! one of brock's first victims was a clock!!! dang. ehh. so i guess baron underbite lost that jaw...

ahh ha hahha , the monarch is back then as well!?! no, he's not responsible... amazing...wow, that coffin is grabby with zombie gas. my goodness... so there were prior friends of the venture family, that'd be the calvary for this one!?!? intriguing, especially the fish guy.

those are nice outfits those, uh, robots wore. poor brock even got gassed i take it!?! looks like brock and underbite are both choking their, uh..

action fft man. my god the necromancer isn't friends with the old team venture!!!! boy his hands were kind of bloody there.

bing bong. HEHEH. no, it's oregano. it's allergic. ohh there goes the jaw again!! and speaking of teeth... i don't believe he left the molar there.

looks like brock's getting themselves out pretty quickly with underbite's iron jaw. and i think underbite will need a new jaw.

there goes brock , crazy and mad in two eras, yes!!!

and off goes the venture bros without team venture or baron or that albino guy.

good episode. i'll be glad to see this one again. and it's nice to know all who saw this got some back story on what makes some of the venture cast, tick. most of them, anyway.

deja vu so much.... on finishing with his own nickname,

"waylaid by jackassery." YES. :)

You know, there aren't enough cartoon funerals, and even fewer that rule as hard as the pre-credits intro one did.

I like that Dean is in denial about Brock's constant murder spree. As did Dr. Venture's flashback. Way to disguise the Dark Side Of The Moon poster, guys (one of TWO Pink Floyd homages in this episode. What, no Rush?) ;) Even better was the laugh track during the flashback.

I also like how this tied into "Home Insecurity." I'd figured that Unterbeiht was just parodying Dr. Doom's origin, but hey, they made the joke, hit the reference, and served their plot and characters. Megas XLR should take notes.

The joke with the old guys kinda slowed things down (tho Action Man kicks all kinds of ass), but once they got back to Doc and the guys during the break it picked back up. It's only as recently as this epsiode and "Tag Sale" that I'm beginning to realise how tied-together everything is. Also, I'm beginning to realise that once the Venture Boys get to play off anyone, they can make anything work. Orpheus being along for the ride only made things better.

Loved the many Bond parodies this episode and Dr. Venture's "Yeah, I had that issue of Heavy Metal too," crack killed. This episode managed to be funny and fill in more of VB's backstory without being overly stupid, the resolution made sense for the most part, and the post-credits bit was well, trademark Brock

Wasn't quite as smooth or as steady with the jokes as VB is at its best, but when the jokes hit, they hit hard. This show is all that's right and good with [as]. A-

"Yeah, I had that issue of Heavy Metal too."

Great episode, I felt that the Team Venture was a little tacked on though. They really could have had their own episode. But either way there were non stop gags that really made me laugh.

I loved the way this episode was structured; first half was funny and set up the storyline, second half was very funny and played out as a nice mix of action and comedy (the Brock double fight was awesome). With multiple plots no less.

Really good. =(

Mmmm, continuity. Lots of great jokes (Orpheus!) and everything tied together in the end. Except for what happened to Baron Underbheit and Pete White... :p

Pretty good, although I would've liked to see more of Team Venture fighting while NOT wearing leotards, their story seemed to kinda peter out, especially in a not-so-cool way. Otherwise hilarious stuff and the writers in the last few episodes have learned how to make the teens actually LIKEABLE when they do show up, while letting the real interesting characters do their thing.

The way everything intertwined was very well done. The AD&D game was a hilariously lame thing to seek revenge over.

Stewie

It reminded me of Austin Powers in Goldmember. What with finding out that everyone went to the same college years earlier. And the "fembots."

I didn't like Goldmember. This was the weakest Venture Bros. yet.

Once again I am amazed at how good this show is. Also is it just me or does this season actually seem to have a plot. (the whole Dr. Venture's dad thing)

I guess I am the only one to catch the 'Incredibles' injoke in tonight's episode of VB.

The injoke was about one of the old guys sucking in his gut and trying to put on the belt to his costume.

I don't usually watch this show but I caught a few minutes tonight. I like that joke where the brothers were saying "Who do you suppose is behind this?" Then they cut to the main villian's lair and he goes, "Nope, not me, I've got something planned for next week." :D

i wonder ... that gas did paralyse sampson, and he could be affected by gas in a prior episode, and in another one, he got sucked into space and somehow lived..

but incredibly.. sampson otherwise, seems immortal, doesn't he? nothing really can kill him.

This episode was simply hilarious. Especially, "Leslie, I masturbate furiously to your picture every night. Please notice me." :D The other things Mike Soriyama wanted revenge for were also hilarious. "Oh come on! You're gonna kill me becuase I had fake sex on graph paper with a girl who barely spoke to you in real life?"

Yeah, that line had me in stitches! This show is just packed with great humor, and I'm kinda blown away how solidly and succinctly every episode manages to come together and nail it to the wall.

Grade: A/10. :D

It was a great episode although they could have focused on Team Venture more and not tack on the usual Brock rampaging throughout scene.

Best episode yet!

Was it me or college age Underbite look just like Arnold Schwarzeneggar of the 70s early 80s..

I'm loving Dr. White more and more.

Interesting that Mike in college named a golem after his crush Leslie Cohen, then later creates robots that look like Leslie. In Hebrew mythology a golem is a living being made up of non-living matter, very much like a robot.

Wasn't that it? Yeah, I was too busy laughing my ass off to remember the line right, or to hear the rest of it. Something about White's absolutely perfectly smug intonation and delivery made that the funniest line I've heard on any AS show in a loooooong time.

PS, I think this sums up every episode of Venture Bros. so far:

"The police dragged them out in body bags."
"Those were sleeping bags!"

"Oh come on! You're gonna kill me becuase I had fake sex on graph paper with a girl who barely spoke to you in real life?"

Great episode. Not the best, but very close.

It had an interesting plot (revenge on collage roomates and Team Venture), and we get some backstory about Dr. Venture and his friends/foes when they were in collage. But, I didn't find myself laughing that much. There were a couple hilarious moments, like when we find out the reasons the guy wanted to kill them (masterbating comment and the fake sex at the board game scenes).

I give Past Tense a B.

This was really good. I think it's hard to do Venture Brothers reviews because, most of the time, they handle just about everything exceptionally. The characters, the dialogue, the plotlines, the timing, the subtle lines and visual gags in the background...it all works very well. Sometimes (like this episode, for instance) it fells like there are a couple of rough spots along the way that could have been punched up a bit. But the show is so enjoyable overall that it's hard to care about a slightly dull scene or two.

A great episode. I really don't know what else to say.

The origins episode, sorta....

1. Ha! Bodyguard Brock actually slapped Dr. Venture on the head! :)

2. TV sitcom canned laughs?! :ack:

3. Heh, collegiate Venture should had instead been "sexiled" instead of suffering thru that.

4. They're all in the same college? And the same dorm?

5. Betamax vs. Robotics......... hmmmmm...... I see a future in Betamax. :D

6. The Incredibles wannabes, origami, Action (Fart) Man, and why does he sound like Patrick Stewart? :p

7. So, now at least we know how Dr. Venture really lost his bugged molar (and it seems nobody ever cleans the dorms sufficiently for decades). And that masterbate song-dedication radio stunt......... we once did something like that too and made sure the whole dorm tuned into it, minus the masterbation part of course.

Venture Bros. was crazy! I loved every second of it. On some other show having all of them go to college together would be stupid but this show made it work! :) Underbite was a seriously handsome dude back in the day. At least to me. :o T.S. also looked geeky. I really wonder why he didn't inherit his father's body in any way? Suriyama's reasons for hating the 4 were funny. Cool of Dean and Hank to get the original Team Venture in. Action Man - "Dude you beefed!" ROTFL And the Bob Fett poster! I LOVED the part where you see Brock attack the nerds and Team Venture simultaneously the same strategy. Brock's too fun. And way to break the news about Venture senior, Brock. I wonder if they will address what happened to Rusty's father. I am interested to know how he died. And Rusty lost his virginity to Dean and Hank's mom?

Ah yes, I also love Dean more now. His comments in the funeral about sleeping bags were so cute. He's such a cutie scarty cat. ^_^

And why didn't anyone listen to Rusty? Betamax were the way to go, not robots! :P

Venture Bros. exposes the inescapable truth concerning supervillans.

They all suffer from a huge passive aggressive disorder, I haven't seen a bunch in dire need of a hobby or to force the concept of Get over it! into their heads.

"Oh, and while you were in the infirmary, some place Venture ... Venture Industries called. Your dad died. Later."

Brock is still the best character on the show. The bit with him accidentally strangling Doc Venture, who was tied to the same chain, while trying to get at the Baron was hilarious. ("Way to bodyguard, Brock!")

I guess college can not only provide you with your best friends, but your worst enemies, too ... Great show, but only two episodes left, I think.

Darn.
