Well, more like only 2 of them, but here goes:
1.) (Slappy from "Animaniacs" voice on) He looks like the offspring of Liv Tyler and Harry Connick Jr. (Slappy voice off) Add Christopher Walken as the kid's godfather, and you have a good idea of this schmendrick's genetic makeup. Seriously, anybody seen the recent Entertainment Weekly cover with him on it? "The unspoken Superboy" looks like he's posing for an underwear ad. That leads me to point 2.
2.) I look at this Entertainment Weekly cover and I think he'd look more at home in the adult-movie industry than playing the "Boy Of Steel". That's all I'll say on that point...further elaboration would suspend me (then again, the "Amazing Comic Find" thread wasn't cancelled).
Sincerely,

yeah well...freddie prinze was busing filming revenge of the nerds pt.25(he's really got firm beliefs that he's finally getting a gold statuette this year;) )...and all the backstreet boys are still taking anti-depressents, so i'm pretty refreshed and relived to get this new actor on the scene.

I'm moving this thread to the Batman, Superman, & Beyond Board, since that is where Smallville discussions are supposed to go down.

Dude, have you actually seen the show? Because if you haven't, it annoys me and I'm sure others that you'd just judge it from some photos. I don't care if you don't like it after viewing it, but to say it's bad or whatever before giving it a chance sounds stupid.

1 thing at a time here. (Deep breath)
"Dude, have you actually seen the show?"
First, I don't really like being referred to as simply "dude" under these circumstances. Secondly, no, I have not seen the show.
"Because if you haven't, it annoys me and I'm sure others that you'd just judge it from some photos. I don't care if you don't like it after viewing it, but to say it's bad or whatever before giving it a chance sounds stupid."
First, yes, I often do judge people simply by photos. Not exactly proud of it, but I do it. I call them like *I* see them. If you don't agree, that's perfectly fine, but allow me my difference. Secondly, I don't appreciate my behavhior being referred to as "stupid", and it stings even more coming from someone younger than me (as you are, by almost 4 years). "What I do in my house, you may not do in your house", as Luther Campbell once put it. Please allow me to say what I feel I have and want to say.
I may be a man who judges before he's even seen the evidence, but that only serves to further mean that I'm not perfect. I apologize, but I am me. Allow that, please.
Thank you for taking the time to hear me out, Mr. Benenati, and good night.
Sincerely,
John "Captain Caps" Kilduff

I assume we will keep things civil here. :)
The Captain, I take it, is making observations about a certain physical type now widely prevalent in TV and movies: the dewy-lidded androgynous male with the sunken cheeks and the high cheekbones.
Nothing about Wellings' talent or the quality of the show follows from what he says, and as near as I can tell the Captain doesn't mean to imply anything about either one.

tom welling is by far the best portrayal of what a young clark kent would be-bottom line.

Before seeing the first episode of Smallville, I had concerns that WB was trying too hard to find someone who would look great in an Ambercrombie and Fitch catalog and but not quite fill the shoes of Clark Kent.
However, after seeing a few episodes, I think Welling is outstanding. Sure, he looks like a model...but he pulls off the character SO WELL that you end up completely on his side. He portrays Clark with such charm and humility that you just can't help but like the guy...you really get the sense that Clark truly likes all the people he has to deal with day to day...he even takes a "caring tone" with the "bad guys" until he is forced to use his powers to stop them.
I think Welling is doing a fantastic job with Clark... and is very worthy of "wearing the cape" for awhile.
Okay, sorry about that Mr.Kilduff. I don't think you are stupid, but I think judging something before you actually see it is not the right method of going about things. I think you are taking things too seriously. I'm just saying that you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover. That's all. I'm sorry if I offended you.

Well, he called the show, "Superman's Creek," I think that's judging the show a bit, don't you Jay? That's what I really meant to say he was judging it about. Sorry I wasn't explicit. I've noticed that the Captain has been pretty critical on the show in some other threads and I believe he said he hadn't seen it yet. I value everyone's opinion and I'm sorry if I offended you Captain.
I know I came off as harsh and admittedly, I was wrong. I didn't use a great choice of vocabulary, now did I? ;)
All I'm saying is you should give the show a try. It's not that bad. If you are going to call it anything, then call it, "Clark's Creek." That would be a more accurate than say, "Superman's Creek."
In all honestly, I enjoy the show a lot. Tom Welling is about 24, IIRC. I believe Christopher Reeve was about 24 when he portrayed Superman. I'd actually like to see Welling portray Superman in the next movie, if they can age him up. But that's just my opinion...
Once again, I appologize to you Kilduff for coming off as so harsh and offending you. That wasn't my intention.
