Anybody ever wonder what Bob's brother, Thomas (Tom) McKimson did after he quit Warners in the mid-Forties??? Here's a tiny sample from his final years...

Could use a little clean-up work, but they look happy, anyway. ;)

It sort of looks like a commercial for a CD of hippie music, but I like it:p. Didn't Thomas McKimson go on to work in comic books?

It's actually a watercolor for sale for... get this $1400!!!
(I'll think I'll stick with the couple of his original animation drawings from the mid-Thirties ;)).
Thomas McKimson left Warners and did indeed work in the comic book realm. Much less known is that he also drew Warner character coloring books, and some animation related Little Golden Books. Also worked with Warners characters and the early Hanna-Barbera product promotions and the like... I've never fathomed why he failed to EVER return to animation (or even directing). His last work was a bunch of signed limited-editions with brother Charles (Chuck) McKimson, which included their signatures AND a silk-screened signature of Bob McKimson!!!.

Tom McKimson worked in WB character comic books as early as 1944. For his first several years, his artwork is total *gold* — perhaps the most true to the characters ever done for the classic era comics. I think of a great story in LT #40 (1945), where Bugs is up against a madman who thinks he's a clock. Or one from 1946 (I've forgotten the issue number), with Bugs posing as King Bugsovitch of Booferstan, with Porky as his Duke...
Great stories. IMHO, the absence of Tom McKimson material was the only real flaw with the otherwise quite good DC Looney Tunes reprint collection two years ago.

Okay, Jack asked me whether Thomas "Tom" McKimson worked on any of the more famous/recent "Little Golden Books". I have a few in my collection (somewhere). But even better... I just came across this, an original drawing by Thomas McKimson of Wile E. Coyote!! from a 1974 Little Golden Book entitled "THE LOST ROAD RUNNER MINE" (anybody remember that one from childhood...or second childhood:D?)

It's up for auction, with a Buy It Now price of $35... That's pretty darn cheap for an original illustration from a book from your childhood, and by one of Warner's great old-time animators!!!
