This is “Horrible Episode Titles!” week, apparently.
“Laser Wave: Rampage” has been corrected for the Canadian broadcast as “Shockblast: Rampage”. Laser Wave is Shockblast’s Japanese name.
Alpha Q’s “true voice” – the voice of a young child – was changed to be him channeling the voices of all the dead of Planet Q. I was originally against this change, but considering they never actually explained why Alpha Q had a little child’s voice in Japan…I’ve started to prefer the dub version.
Let’s begin!
I have a stupid question. How do you miss when your opponet is STANDING STILL!? And you are as well!?

A-Team! And what the hell?.....what's the point in linking in a situation like that? What's Unicron? I'm guessing it's bad, seeing as the one guy said he wanted to kill, I think, Megatron and maintain Unicron...but then Optimus said they must destroy Unicron. So the orange-red guy is bad?
Unicron...the giant, planet-eating Transformer that almost killed everyone in Armada & the TF Movie...

Oh yeah that's right, it comes together now. I keep/kept calling him Ubitron....
What's Unicron? I'm guessing it's bad, seeing as the one guy said he wanted to kill, I think, Megatron and maintain Unicron...but then Optimus said they must destroy Unicron. So the orange-red guy is bad?
Oh boy...you've got me started now.
The "orange and red guy" is Rodimus. He was a former Autobot leader who left Cybertron during the height of the war and went off into space, with his message being that the Autobots and Decepticons could find new homes to populate and therefore wouldn't need to fight over Cybertron. A bunch of TFs followed him, but most stayed on Cybertron and it was during this time that Optimus stepped up and saved the Autobots from Decepticon conquest.
While in space, Rodimus pledged that he would protect any planet he came across, and somewhere along the line he arrived at Planet Q - the home planet of Alpha Q (Q for Quintesson). He continued his voyage in space and would one day be called back to protect them.
Now, if you watched Armada, you should know who Unicron is. He's a giant planet Transformer who devours planets. Unicron was defeated by the Autobots and Decepticons at the end of Armada and barely got away by warping to another part of the universe. Supposedly, it was here that he attacked Planet Q in an attempt to revitalize himself.
Planet Q was destroyed by Scorponok, who somehow detonated the planet in an attempt to destroy Unicron, and Unicron devoured the rest of the planet, but it wasn't enough and he was so highly damaged by the attack that he basically went offline. Rodimus, who had been called to help protect Planet Q, arrived too late, only to find the debris of the planet.
Alpha Q's plan is to revive Unicron, but they want to control him, because Alpha Q learned that anything destroyed by Unicron can be brought back (thanks to Unicron's whole god-power gimmick). This is why he could bring back Starscream, Scorponok, the Terrorcons, etc. and he thinks it can be used for his home planet also. Rodimus wants to help Alpha Q, so he agrees to this plan. Neither of them are evil, but Unicron (and Megatron, who is currently in possession of Unicron) is. Rodimus, Alpha Q, and Megatron all view Unicron more as an object that can be controlled, but Optimus is the only one of the four that realizes that Unicron is a BEING and that if he's revived, he'll just keep destroying planets.

I love how Misha says it's too dangerous then decides maybe it's not so dangerous that she can follow Kicker. Eh, when you have feelings for a guy that strong... nevermind, never been in that position.
I also find it odd that Unicron "bumping" into the Miranda II didn't cause the whole thing to explode.
ANd I positively love those feral screams Unicron let out. I wonder why we haven't heard anything from him next to those screams. Was Megatron handling him too roughly?

He's not fully revived yet.

He's not fully revived yet.Is he at all aware of what Megatron's doing to him? What episode can we expect Unicron to be revived to the level where he can act on his own?

The end of episode 37. If you want to know more, read the next spoiler space.
Unicron gets fully revived in episode 36, I think, but for some reason he can't move (I don't remember why). By the end of episode 37 though, he possesses Megatron (which lets us hear Unicron speak for the first time in Super Link) and then by 38 he's got his body back to working perfectly and goes about clobbering planets and fighting Optimus/Omega Supreme.

I rather enjoyed this ep alot, but I gathered that the little talk Mischa and Kicker had regarding Ironhide bieng her friend too was not the same originally (due to the animation of Micha and kiker's blushing)

Sounds very cool, Obi. I can't wait. :) When you said Unicron possess Megatron and that's when we first hear Unicron speak ... do you mean he speaks through Megatron like he did with Sideways?

Yes.Awesome!
Great episode. I love Alpha Q's backstory, and I love Shockblast so...it's pretty obvious that this would be one of my favorites.
Anyway, here's some news. The two Energon DVDs that were released today (Battle for Energon and Return of Megatron) have had some dialogue changes. There's a new intro sequence with Optimus going over what happened in Armada, a sequence with Misha and Kicker, and various small dialogue change*. They even changes Alpha Q's name to Alpha Quintesson! Unforunately...not all errors were changed. Misha is still referred to as Mika, for example.
*2 changes, for example, are in episode 2. One scene - which takes place on the moon - has Ironhide walking, but the animation for the walk cycle is terrible so the dubbers made Ironhide say "Hey, check it out! I'm moonwalking!" Another part changed is when the Autobots return home from the moon; after Jetfire says they "didn't have time" to find Cyclonus, Demolishor says they would've looked if he were an Autobot.
BTW, for some reason episode 5 is skipped. The episodes on BfE are 1 - 4 and the episodes on RoM are 6 - 9.

how can they go and skip episodes and expect people to buy them? the changes sound good anyway. what its the exclusive dvd content the commercial said about?
and about todays episode Kicker bashing away at Alpha Q is just about the funniest thing :)

We finally learn of Alpha-Q history and got to see Shockblast.
Do you have a wav. of the japanese version of the true alpha Q.
Anyone notice that Alpha-Q was singing "I been working on the railroad."

No, but I can describe it. It just sounds like a young child (I'm not sure if its a girl or a boy, but I would personally say girl...).

This weeks episodes are good, but they're just setting up for the big battle about to come next week. I can't wait until next Friday, when new episodes again begin, and just to think that they're barely 1/2 done and Omega Supreme is going to reawaken and team up with the Autobots to fight against Unicron in the upcoming battles shows just what potential this series has. I see an explosive conclusion in the near future, but when is Megatron going to become Galvatron again?
I. Love. Shockblast.
One of the best characters in this show.
Though watching his early episodes do remind me just how much I like his newer voice better. Right now he sounds just like Blurr...as the episodes progress, his voice gets a bit higher pitched and sounds almost exactly like the Super Link voice. It's the perfect voice too.
Bigddan: Megatron turns into Galvatron in episode 41
Edit: I'll never understand how the dubbers messed this up. Primus = energon core?! Wha...?!
Rad: "Oh man! Let's see how many times I can say 'Oh man!'"
Optimus: "Hmm...should we stop Shockblast from destroying the planet's power source, or find out who two nameless foot soldiers are that I don't care about. Eh, screw the planet's core, that one guy looked at me funny!"
The anime producers have to find SOME way to get Powerlink Optimus in every episode, don't they?

Shockblast is one of the coolest characters on this show.
Here is an outtake.
Kicker: "Hey Ironhide, drive faster so Misha have her arms around me."
Notice that Wing Dagger's design is based off of Armada Demoltisor.
Cool Rodimus vs. Optimus round 3, too bad Kicker interrupted.
round 1 is zombie optimus vs hot rod
round 2 is hate-armor optimus vs hate plague rodimus.
How can Misha's hair can move in space, is there a force field in the back of the helmet.

yeah and sometimes he does it more then once  and out of nowhere for no real reason either  it would work in a drinking game though. everytime someone says energon, unicron, or Optimus powerlinks :p
You would die of alcohol poisoning before half the episode was over.

I was wondering the same thing. Moreover, how come her head isn't sucked thru the hole in her helmet for her hair?

I was wondering the same thing. Moreover, how come her head isn't sucked thru the hole in her helmet for her hair? That's exactly what I keep saying. I hate looking at the screen and seeing her hair out in space and her as normal as can be. What up with her hair even being out of the helmet? It's not like she can't have the hair inside. May be it's some sort of design element. I just find it too funky.
I really wish Kicker didn't interupt Prime and Rodimus. I really wanted to see the two Convoys at it some more. They always show the Decepticons infighting, it would have really been naice to see some more of it on the Autobots side.
Question about Shockblast. I was spoiled when I wasn't supposed to one day... Laswerwave is dead and his bro is in some cell vowing revenge to whoever killed his brother. I don't think the SL name was given but it's given he is our Sixshot. Main point, how similar does "Sixshot" sound to Laserwave? I'm wondering if they are "twin" similar. As in would Drummond be doing Sixshot too? Or is his voice very different?
Razor
10-14-2004, 01:13 PM
Sixshot's voice and voice actor in Japan is identical to Laserwave/Shockblast's. BUT he speaks much more calmly and softly than Laserwave does; he's not as much of a maniac and lunatic, apparently. So, Drummond COULD do his US voice, but I think a new actor is just as likely. It depends, really. It could go either way.
So, what episode # are we on right now?
That sucks. Death by needle in the crotch...
Micha: "Let's see how cheesily dramatic I can be while my head explodes inside my helmet!"
Episode 22.
I always laugh at the needle-to-the-crotch scene. XD
And here comes dub change/error of the day!
I'm not sure whether Rodimus is the founder of the Omnicons in Super Link like he is in Energon, but I'm guessing he's not...if he isn't, they changed it to suit Hasbro's bio for Rodimus on www.transformers.com (http://www.transformers.com/) which states that he's the Omnicon foreman.
And when they start speaking about Megatron...don't even listen. It just doesn't make sense. They show Generibots turning into Omnicons, which is supposed to show the origin of the Omnicons, but for some reason the dubbers turned it into something to do with Megatron...and then they go and say something about the Omnicons evolving into the current Transformers. Ugh.
.....
WHY does Arcee have high heels!?
And Kicker gets to ride his first girl... :nurse:
.....
WHY does Arcee have high heels!?
Would you prefer she have tennis shoes? :p
Would you prefer she have tennis shoes? :p
How about just regular Autobot feet like the rest of the Transformers?
There are no "regular" Autobot feet though...
Blackarachnia had giant boobs, Arcee has high heels. :p
Anyway, I loved Starscream's reaction to all the Decepticons being slaughtered at the end of the episode. "What a snack!"

Nope. It's still there in SL.
So the shot with Rodimus talking to the G1 bots was still him talking to pre-evolved Omnicons?
Razor
10-15-2004, 01:52 AM
well, the shot is there in SL, and Primus mentions Rodimus ("Rodeemissu"), so I'm sure that it is.
Unifinshed animation....no Cybertron under the grid!
And I thought the super-quick transformations were cheap. God, that scene with Scorpinok & Kicker was awful.
And I thought the super-quick transformations were cheap. God, that scene with Scorpinok & Kicker was awful. There's been worse...much worse.
Back in Armada episode 3, Demolishor transformed by showing a closeup of his top half falling backwards offscreen and then cutting to his vehicle mode.
Edit: Here's the deal with the flashback sequence. It was meant to show that Misha understood what Alpha Q went through when he lost his homeworld, because she knows the feeling of losing someone close to her - her parents died when she was young, thus the funeral scene. For some reason, the dialogue is changed in the dub version. Censorship? I don't know.
Now there's a really interesting difference.
You just saw Wing Dagger dead. Apparently, Transformers with faceplates have mouths under their faceplates, as you could see on Wing Dagger, whose faceplate was half ripped off.
Yet in the Japanese version, he had a FULL faceplate. So the dub version shows Wing Dagger with a half ripped off faceplate, revealing a mouth underneath, while the Japanese version is just his plain old look. Strange.
Seriously, why doesn't Hasbro US just make their OWN damn Transformer series already?

TVTome.com said somebody is listed as Misha's father, it seems he appear as a flaskback.

It's not in where it comes from, it's that you treat it right and give the people responsible for translating it either enough time, the proper resources, or make sure that they CAN do it correctly. There's been enough dubs in the past to show that it's possible.
and just because it's a US Transformers show doesn't automatically mean they'll pull it off more effectively.
Cybertron seems like it'll be premier in Japan several months before it does here in the US, so maybe we'll see a dub that has the proper time to sort its stuff out this time.

I thought Armada had a few months (especially with the big breaks) between versions? They still bungled things up.
Why should they make their own show when they can get Takara to pay for half of one?

Armada? O_o It was started BEFORE they got the Japanese version done. It wasn't animated here and sent over there.
and CN's "breaks" weren't production hiatuses. Aaron Archer was asked once, and he said that those episodes had been done for months.

Well, we never had anything in the US because G1 was animated in Japan and BW and BM was animated in Canada.

Korea. A couple episodes were done in Japan, but mostly Korea.
