Surprisingly Ghost in the Shell 2 hit the small art house theater in my area Friday, so my g/f and I saw it yesterday. I have not seen the first movie in years (which was ok, not that great), but I think it follows that storyline.

Anyway, the movie itself was interesting, but it did drag on quite a bit. I am not sure what the length was, but it felt like it was a 2 hour movie. The story was a little confusing, but man, the soundtrack and architecture were so awesome, I can forgive the confusions. The action was pretty cool, especially when Batou starts killing all the Yakuza members in their hideout. It was odd not having Kusanagi as a main character, but I think Batou and <can'tthinkofhisname> working together was fine. The odd thing was I thought that guy was a human, but then Batou tells him Kim (if you seen it, you will know who I'm talking about) hacked into his E-Brain.

The biggest disappointment I had though was with the audio. MY theater's speakers seemed to have a problem, so sometimes the audio only came from the front speakers, even during parts where guns were going off, so it didn't come out as 5.1 sound often. Then there was a scene where the audio got loud again, and all the speakers worked for a few minutes, then got low again.

Oh yeah, and also to my surprise, the movie was subbed. I was expecting it to be dubbed, so I was hoping Dreamwork's was going to use the excellent actors from the TV series.

Overall though, I give the movie a 3.5/5 stars. Not the best anime movie ever, and not as good as the GitS tv series, but a fine movie.
