I was wondering what if Superboy join the Teen Titans TV series. like he did in the comics, Wouldn't it be fun to see both Robin & Superboy fighting to win the love of Starfire. I mean I could see Superboy joining The Titans would be a good thing. Plus it would be cool to have someone that has Superman powers on the show. What do you think??????:cool:

I think your thread title made it sound like you were reporting news.

I don't think they'd use him. I mean would they actually go with the clone mess up, which might require a whole lot more back story than the creative team wants to deal with (and IIRC the Clone doesn't have Superman's exact powers). Not to mention WB would probably say "no" to avoid brand confusion with "Smallville." They're probably better off not using Superboy.

I came in here expecting to see something about Superboy being on Teen Titans. The way you did your header made it seem like it was a fact when instead it was a question. That was really worded badly Spidey IMO.

That said, I dont think Kon will be showing up.

I don't know a thing about Superboy. =P But I have a feeling I'd rather him not join the show.

By the way, the thread title should have been something like "Wouldn't it be cool if Superboy joined the Teen Titans?" The one you have is misleading.

Teen Titans is a great show, to be sure, but it might seriously risk something in adding Superboy to the line-up. Robin's presence continuity-wise is still an issue among fans, so I can't imagine what kinds of questions it would bring up to have a Superboy also thrown into the mix.

I think the appeal of the characters stems from the liberties the writers can take with them. Starfire, Cyborg, Beast Boy and Raven still are relatively unrecognizable to the non-comic-reading-public, and those who do know them, know of them through the show, leaving the opportunity open for the writers to do what seems best with the characters. Robin was a risk that paid off, since the B:TAS Robin had never really gone solo, so the concept was fresh and the visual style and voice acting further identified this version of the hero as a unique one.

But Superboy? Smallville and Justice League are throwing the name "Kal-El" around so much that adding another Super character to the fold wouldn't be such a novel idea. Questions about his origins would easily overpower his personality and identity as a member of the TT. The core group of heroes has done fine thus far and will continue to, with Speedy, Aqualad and Terra popping in and out when appropriate. You have to stop when something's good. TT is great. Superboy might not be.

Ummm.... We really haven't much backstory in the form of origins on any of the Titans except for Starfire (her origin being simply that she's an alien) have we? They could follow their own setup and simply add him.

I'm pretty sure that Superboy's identity question, ("Is it a young Superman or Superman's young clone?) would prove much more troublesome than Robin's identity question, ("Is it Dick Grayson, Jason Todd, or Tim Drake?) It would have much greater consequances for his character and character history.

It would have much greater consequances for his character and character history.Good point, but in a show that's never dealt with how the Titans got a tower, funding, or any of the many real world questions, I think they could just get away with him being Superman's clone. The show doesn't take itself overly seriously, and continuity doesn't really seem to be a problem.

I'm not personally demanding they add Superboy, but they could easily simplify it so he could join if they wanted to. I mean, where did Raven, Beast Boy, and Cyborg get their powers? No one seems to upset by that. Admitedly, I'm not an avid fan and may have missed something.) No one's bothered by the fact that of all the people on Star's planet, only she and Black Fire apparently have super powers.

Adding Superboy would just mess up the balance of the show. Besides, isn't he off limits because of Justice League? Just like Kid Flash and Wonder Girl and others? That's why they had to use the characters they did.

Who's Superboy? Is he Superman's son, or Superman when he was younger?

In the Golden and Silver ages, Superboy was just a young Superman and his adventures in Smallville before he went to Metropolis, and he was even friends with a young Lex Luthor! ("Smallville" the show is an adaptaion of this, albeit without the costume, the name "Superboy," and his dog Krypto.) After the Crisis, they cut out the Superboy phase of Superman's carreer, but they have this new "Superboy" whom I don't know that much about, but I think he's supposed to be a young clone of Superman.

There's a DTV planned in the future, or so I've heard. Supposedly, it'll deal with the origins.

If you read the omics you know how the Titans got a tower and so
forth. These characters are Ancient, and it is Dick freakin Grayson! These continuity questions are majorly annoying.

I would LOVE to see Superboy, the clone. Just introduce him as a clone and all of the imaginary problems are solved.

LOL. Continuity? The only continuity TT follows is its own. If I were you, I'd stop obsessing, TT doesn't follow the comics, doesn't follow Timm's DCAU, it follows its own. There is no continuity to worry about.

As for a DTV, I wouldn't be surprised. Isn't it a little late though? The show's already proved to be a success without focussing on origins. Go figure, whatever will sell I suppose.

What do you mean "obsessing"? I'm not. That's uh, why I called the questions annoying. :|

Well, no worries. His name would be either "Kon-El" or "Conner Kent". Not that they would ever call him that anyway. He would just be Superboy.

However, I would have to say I'm against bringing Superboy into the mix. The team is well balanced as it is. I'm guessing if they make any additions to the team, it would be bringing Terra back. But I'm guessing if they do anything like that it, they’ll just create another team and start the series new, with occasional coops between the two teams. The original team is to well established. Terra might have had a shot at being the sixth Titan and fitting in, but I kinda doubt it.

Eh, I'd rather see Impulse.

Superboy is a clone of Superman and alittle of Lex Luthor i believe. But since adding Superboy would screw up a the shows timeline.

After reading the last restart of the Titans, I'm not so sure adding Suberboy would be bad. I thought they were just awesome. I wouldn't mind seeing TT (since I'm not a fan of TT anyway) animated like that, with Impulse/Kid Flash, Tim, Kon-El and the rest. I thought they were great.

Seeing as they just showed an ep with the dimension-hopping Larry, wouldn't it be great if the comic Titans/Young Justice team guest starred? Have Robin, Superboy, Wonder Girl and Impulse/Kid Flash dumped through a dimensional vortex or something.

There is enough Teen Titan continuity to work with, adding members is a bad idea. Next thing you know, we'll end up with Teen Titans Unlimited.

I like how Aqualad is a quasi-regular guest on the show. And I'd like to see more of Speedy the way we see Aqualad. Nothing against Superboy, I like him, but I'd rather see Kid Flash over anyone else make a guest appearance.
