View Full Version : Bana Back For Hulk 2?
Eric Bana may once again be donning the torn purple pants, in a sequel to Universal's Hulk movie, according to this report from Superhero Hype! (http://www.superherohype.com/news/hulknews.php?id=2076)
Various reports over the last twelve months suggested that the stand-up comic turned Hollywood it-boy had walked away from the role, with producers now in search of another lad to fill the torn shorts. But Bana tells the mag that he's "seriously considering" a second shot at playing The Hulk, with the studio keen for a sequel.

I hope Bana does come back as Bruce but the only way I would go see a new Hulk movie is if it had a different director and writer. The first movie was horrible and the cinematography was the worst for a movie I have ever paid to see. There is no way I could sit through another movie shot that way.

I just think the first Hulk movie was unexpected. We all expected a big summer movie, and instead we got a cerebral Hulk film. Also, we really didn't get a good villian. The problem with the Hulk film was we really aren't certain if they were making a tv update or a comic book film, I remember producers talking about the tv series, and I felt that was the first red light. This shouldn't have been about the tv series, but the comic book.
Hopefully, Marvel will not allow the sequel to go forward without an approved "good" script. And the can only bring in one of two villians. Or knowing comic book films. Two villians. The first being The Leader, and since he won't be much of a theatric villian, then they'll probably bring in The Ambomination.

My biggest problem with the Hulk film was that they should have ended it after the big fight/chase with the military... when Betsy helped Bruce change back into his human form. Right there, that was a good ending. Instead, they kept going and made Bruce's father turn into that bizarre creature thing. That whole part was just unnecessary.

I liked Hulk, but that was probably only because I wanted to like it. And it took two viewings to get to that point.
I look forward to a sequel. I dig Bana.

Agreed.
Hulk = Good
Bana = Good
Director = Bad
Writer = Bad
The franchise has good potential, so long as it's in the write hands.
Bana definitely wasn't a bad thing in the Hulk movie. I definitely wouldn't want any other actor than him playing Bruce Banner if possible. I certainly hope that the franchise takes a different path in regards to the story of the film, as it should be easy to improve on the first.

Josh, I said the exact same thing you did after I saw the film, they should have ended it right there. The whole subplot with Bruce's dad getting the Absorbing Man powers was unnecessary to say the very least.
Anyways, I know Avi Arad has said in interviews that they know what was wrong with the first film, and they will change it for the sequel. Take that as you will... What does worry me though is they also said the second one will be more of a "superhero" film. I don't know if I really consider the Hulk to be a superhero... he's more of an anti-hero.
What would you guys like to see for the sequel? I think it would be cool if they took a little from the Bruce Jones run, having Bruce be on the run from the government and other forces who want to capture him. I'd also love to see the Gray Hulk show up, but it may be a bit soon for that, maybe he'd have to sit it out until a third film. :)
Good to see I'm not the only one who thought the whole Absorbing man stchick was tacked on. I'm suprised they're actually making a Hulk 2, since Hulk 1 was largely considered a bomb.
Note to Marvel- "Sense and Sensibility", "Eat Drink Man Woman", and Hulk don't mix. I think Ang Lee's a great director, but he doesn't know comic books.

Would people mind if they added some intellect to the Hulk? Im just curious on what some fans think . The only Hulk comic run that I really collected and enjoyed was when they merged Banner ,The Gray Hulk and Green Hulk together. I loved that run. The Hulk had the intellect of Banner, The attitude of The Gray Hulk and The strength of The Green. It was a interesting take for awhile before they went strictly back to "Hulk Smash" mode.

I was definitely a big fan of Peter David's 10-year run on the Hulk series, there is so much they could adapt from that. I don't know if the general public is ready for a "smart Hulk" yet, because sadly probably most people just know the "Hulk Smash" Hulk.
But, man, as far as I'm concerned, bring on the Gray Hulk, bring on the Smart Hulk, bring on the Maestro, bring on all of it! LOL! I loved the concept of Banner having multiple personality disorder, and the various incarnations of the Hulk representing his different personalities.

Future Imperfect which featured the Hulk going against a evil future version of himself (The Maestro) was pretty nice. I know there is no way they would adapt that though but it was a good story. Was The Maestro ever seen again after Hulk did away with him? He should have been but I was curious if anyone knew.
