Sandman was a great comic book series. Neil Gaiman has tried to do a Death movie, but it keeps on falling through. A Sandman animated series done by Bruce Timm or ERic ridomski, or even both of them would be extrordinary!! I have even made up a voice cas list. I'll leave that till later , when I see the interest that this conversation thread generates. Call me a bastard if you will. (I really opened that wound din't I!)

The only work of Neil Gaiman's that I have seen is the comics that accompanied Alice Cooper's album "The Last Temptation." I was impressed by the story and artwork! That said, even though I am not familiar with it, I think the idea of The Sandman being made into an animated series is a good one.

BTW, I would love to hear your ideas for voice actors - I've gotta see if any of my favourites are there! :p

Wow. You've never read the Sandman comics? Wow. I'd highly recommend them to you - they're fantastic. If I ever meet anyone I want to turn on to comics, I use the Sandman comics. Check 'em out some time!

Wow - with a recommendation like that, I think I should get my butt in gear and get a copy! :D How many issues of the Sandman are there out now? And are there any particular issues you'd recommend? I guess I'll have to visit the comics shop tomorrow to see if I can find an issue.

Sandman lasted 75 issues - it ended a number of years ago. The entire series is one long story, so start from the beginning - they're all collected in a number of softcover volumes that you should be able to find at any comic shop. Each volume is a sub-story/sub-arc within the greater overall story. The first collection sometimes turns people off, because Gaiman is still trying to find the series's voice - its a little bit horror, a little bit superhero, and sometimes those first few issues can throw people for a loop. But stick with it for a volume or two more and series will realy shine.

Clayface is right, Avran. The Sandman series was something else. A word of advice, though: go for the collected volumes.

A Sandman animated series would be interesting. However, it would be difficult since many of the issues didn't have the traditional "action" that is found in animation. We probably have a better chance of seeing Dream make an appearance on the Justice League show.
