I have a little project for school due Thursday. It is about comics (actually I have two projects where I'm doing comic stuff, this one and one where I compare Oedipus to Doctor Doom) and I have as much info as I need... except... I think I might need to know the name of some of the programs that Marvel and DC colorists, inkers, and letterers use to digitally ink, color, and edit images. I'd be very thankful if someone could give me an answer and I'd love you very much.

Howdy,

From what I'm led to believe, most people use Photoshop for all of that. I don't know if there are a whole lot of specialized products to do that stuff, although I've heard vaguely about computerized inking techniques.

This page has tutorials by Laura DePuy (http://www.comiccolors.com/tutorials.shtml) (now Laura Martin, colorist for Astonishing X-Men and a bunch of CrossGen stuff) which are all about coloring comics in Photoshop.

Comicraft puts out a book on comic book lettering (http://www.comicrazy.com/e/env/0001RrMyXxfd3OEV1s4e921/comicraft/index.html?link=catalog.html&item=comicrazy:cbl1), but their only product is fonts, so I suspect they just use Photoshop or some other image editing to do their lettering.
