You know I really never liked this movie. I felt that Bloth and Goldman were really just taking elements of the Disney formula and reproducing them....badly. A rather interesting irony given his rebellion against Disney in the 70's.In my mind the music was only so/so with the only really good song coming at the end. The voice acting also didn't seem to flow as naturally as other feature animated movies I know of. Angela Lansberry did a good job I think, but I think she was the only stand out performance in the movie.
But my biggest gripe however was the way rotoscoping and computer animation were used in the movie. The traced figures, and stilted computer animted walk cycles really didn't work for me.
One positive thing in my opinion was the design of the villan Rasputin, it was over the top grotesque and in my opinion the only design that actually had a life of its own.
Anyway, those are my thoughts. I say bring on Titan A.E next if they can, I actually enjoyed that movie though it also had some flaws.

Jeez...Anatasia? Well, I can say that the director, Don Bluth (with Gary Goldman), is one of Hollywood's most bizzare directors. I personally, however, usually enjoy his style. I'm not crazy about the shoddy editing job or, as I.R. Joey pointed out, the poor CG jobs, but I absolutely LOVE the character designs, especially the animals (in this movie, that would be Anya's dog and Bartok), as well as how the facial lines are drawn and how they move with the expressions. In any case, this movie is one of Don's more loved titles, along with An American Tale, thanks in a big part to of the music in the movie. Where Tale had "Somewhere Out There", co-written by James Horner, this movie had several delightful musical numbers, such as "Once Upon a December" and "At The Beginning", and a wonderful theme, "At The Beginning". But, aside from all of that, the movie had plenty of good drama as well.
And that's the opinion I derived from watching only bits and pieces of the movie and not the whole thing. But it's a really good film.

Anyone notice how Demetrie and Kale (from Titan A.E) look like they might be twins seperated at birth? They look so similar.

I've actually seen this movie before. Unluckily, I could not make the time to watch it again.
I liked Anatasia. I watched it with my older cousin and her boyfriend when I was 9. One of my likable movies. Not a childhood fave though.

Bad animation, bad storytelling, horrendous rotoscoping; there's nothing for me to like, here, really. Maybe if Don Bluth excercised his ability to draw instead of his ability to trace..

I thought it was decent, it could have been better, but I was just glad to see someone else at least try and produce an animated film besides Disney. It was rather, uh, interesting to see evil spirits flowing out of dead Rasputin's body possessing people and thereby causing communism.

Hahahaha.
Don't care what anybody says; for the most part, I like this movie. The CG does suck, as do most of Bartok's lines (Hank Azaria couldn't save him), but the cast does a great job, and character interaction is great.
Didn't know it was rotoscoped until now. At least it's not as obvious as Bakshi LOTR.

Bad animationGranted the CGI/2D interaction is horrible and the Voice Acting isn't consistantly the best...but I thought for the most part the animation was pretty good.
During a lot of the musical sequences I found myself suprised as to how fluid and realistically the characters move and interact with each other and the characters are so full of expression...which I thought was well and good considering the film is 7 years old.
I haven't seen this movie in quite some time until today...and aside from the fact that the movie doesn't overly impress me...I did like the animation. To me it seems to have held up rather well over it 7 years of existance.

 Wow. I had no idea so many people dislike this movie. Guess I'm a minority, huh? I've always loved Anastasia (especially the songs). Bartok the Magnificent was okay, too, but I doubt CN will show that any time soon.
I never noticed the "bad animation" everyone's talking about, but I don't exactly have a critic's eye when it comes to animation.
