the american maid?? i dont remember any captain liberty character on the cartoon. the american maid was the cartoon's ww spoof, and it appears on the tv show captain liberty is a ww like character, so did they change her character for the show?? if they did, that sucks cause the american maid was hilarious, much funnier than captain liberty.

They couldn't get the rights for American Maid or Die Flardermaus, so we now have Batmanuel.

What did you think of tonight's episode? I didn't think it was as good as last week's, but I also didn't see some of it (phone calls, annoying people, you know). So, I'm gonna give a rewatch later tonight and give my final thoughts.

I like the cut of this episode's jibberish.

Tonight was my first time seeing the live-action Tick - I liked it! :p The actors who played Arthur and the Tick were great. I also liked Bat Manuel, although I admit it will take some getting used to, as it will with Captain Liberty. I wish I had caught the premiere of The Tick, and I'm looking forward to watching more of it!

I think American Maid and Flederamus were created by the cartoon's staff. It's like, say, Meilin not being in another adaption of CCSakura.

Batmanuel was NOT in the cartoon. The cartoon was Die Fledermouse! His Schtick was that he used his notable Super-herodum to score with the ladies...but when trouble calls...he skips town.

American Maid..hahaha..great play-on-words. As my buddy Tim would say "The French MUST be pissed with that one!" But, yeah, she was better than Capitan Liberty. Remember how American Maid would always throw her shoe as a weapon? hahaha...funny. Oh well.

I just finished watching the Tick pilot (thank you, Morpheus! :D), and I have to say that I liked the actor they picked to play Captain Liberty. Watching her and Bat Manuel together was hilarious! Hopefully in future episodes we'll see more of the "American Maid" attitude in her character.

The cartoon was done by another company, so when they sold the rights to do a live-action version of the Tick they could only use characters that weren't tied up with the old show. That left them with the option to use characters from the old show or create new ones.

For the convienience of people who haven't read the comics, I'll give you an idea of who may or may not show up.

First off, a moment of silence for characters we won't be seeing:

American Maid, Bi-Polar Bear, The Caped Chameleon, Captain Lemming, The Carpeted Man, Jungle Janet, Die Fledermaus, The Human Bullet, Sewer Urchin, Speak, The Angry Red Herring, Brainchild, The Breadmaster, The Deadly Bulb, Dinosaur Neil, El Seed, The Human Ton (and Handy), The Idea Men, The Evil Midnight Bomber What Bombs at Midnight, Mr. Mental, Mr. Smarty Pants (The Fin), The Mother of Invention, Ottoman Empress, Proto Clown, Joseph Stalin, Venus, and Whirlin' Scottish Devil.

Now, characters that we might be seeing (emphasis on the word might):

Barry (the Tick), Bigshot, 4-Legged Man, Captain Mucilage, Feral Boy, Fishboy, Chairface Chippendale, The Man-Eating Cow, Multiple Santa, Omnipotus, The Terror, Thrakkorzog, Toon-La, Pineapple Pocopo, Professor Chromedome, Chainsaw Vigilantie, Paul the Samurai, Oedipus, and Agrippa--Lord of the Aquaduct.

Howdy,

Bi-Polar Bear,

"It's time to SAVE THE WORLD!!!! Oh, but I'm SO de-PRESSED!"

The Breadmaster

And Butter Pat. Don't forget Butter Pat.

The Evil Midnight Bomber What Bombs at Midnight

"AH-HAH-HAH-HAH-HAH-HAH-HAH-HAH-HAH-HAH-HAH-HAH-HAH! Hey! PAY ATTENTION!!!!!!!"

Heaven's above, but the Tick cartoon was a funny show. I think this weekend, I need to bust out the big tape I have of the Comedy Central marathon and watch it. Or maybe I'll just READ A BOOK!

I finally caught the live-action Tick last night. Had one big guffaw moment, but I couldn't shake the feeling the whole time through that it would have been funnier if Townsend Coleman (the original Tick voice in the cartoon) was spouting the lines. We did like Batmanuel, though, and Arthur was appropriately awkward and dorky.

=8^).

Well, technically, we do have American Maid and Die Fledermaus, even though they've been re-named and changed a little bit. Hopefully, for future episodes, the show's writers' will be able to create some "new" characters based on the ones from the cartoon. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, as it would be good to see some of the cartoon's villians appear on the show!

--Stalin's a historical figure, so there's no copyright on him. Though they could very easily have Tick fight another historical figure/character modeling himself after a historical figure. Imagine Big Blue vs. some decendant of Genghis Khan or Napolean or William Howard Taft. (;))
Though I admit I wouldn't mind seeing the crazy ice cream mutant guy (voiced by Bobcat Goldthwait--"I bleed Rocky Ripple Road Monkey!") again.

I can totally visuallize an episode where The Tick meets The Tick. Haha. In the end, The Tick(the other one) has to change his name to Berry. OH! I'd sooo hope to see that.

I wish The Human Ton & Handy could be in the show. He was always my favorite.

The Evil Midnight Bomber What Bombs at Midnight. THEY HAVE TO USE HIM!!!!

Sewer Urchin was always my fav hero. But in the end...unless they could get Dustin Hoffman to do a guest spot AS Sewer Urchin...there is no point in having him on the show...

I loved the Idea Men...

I hope Chairface appears sometime this season. HE MUST. I mean...it just isnt "The City" of The Tick, if the moon doesnt have "CHA" blown into the side of it(remember that? hahahaha...)

I think i liked this ep better than the first. The premier was pretty much a redo from the cartoon. They used a lot of the same jokes and everything. This one was more original, and seemed to allow the writers to be funnier. I missed not having a supervillian though.

I'm glad there wasn't a supervillain in this episode. In Smallville, we're currently getting a "Villain of the Week" and it's getting boring. With The Tick, we get a villain if the writers feel they can put it in the ep without it being intrusive, or they are at least able to play laughs off of the villain.
