Over the past few months, Toon Zone News has reported that a new "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" cel-animated series was being readied for television to fall air fall 2001. We reported that the series would most likely air on either Kids' WB! or Cartoon Network.
Now, word has come from Kidscreen.com (http://www.kidscreen.com/articles/magazine/20011101/turtles.html) that Warner Bros. Animation will most likely green-light the series after viewing a presentation from Mirage Studios, the owners of the Ninja Turtles license. If Warner Bros. Animation do work on the new series, as they are expected to, then the show will definitely air on Kids' WB! or Cartoon Network.
As reported earlier, the series will mirror the style of "Batman Beyond" and would have much more emphasis on action and drama, than the original "Ninja Turtles" series did. The show will be targeted at 2 to 11 year olds, but will also try to appeal to the fans of the original series.
A new live action/CGI series is also in development at the Hallmark Channel, as well as a theatrical CGI movie being headed by filmmaker John Woo's Digital Rim Entertainment. The movie is set to hit theaters in 2004.
