Well, here is the second of my "galore" threads (first was about robots (http://forums.toonzone.net/showthread.php?t=121799)). This time, we take a look at the various oddities I've drawn over the years involving hover-vehicles, which you may have seen once before, back in August (http://drawingboard.toonzone.net/index.php?module=photoalbum&PHPWS_Album_id=32&PHPWS_Photo_op=view&PHPWS_Photo_id=330).

Some are goofy to me now, but I still like most of them. And as you can see, once I like an idea, I stick with it for a while. :p My favorite on the page is definitely the biggest one. It's the ideal one to me, overall. I also like the little one under it on the left, which is supposed to be an homage to one of my favorite cars, the AC Cobra. The oldest one among them is the second one down on the far right. I drew that back in 1993 or so and it's the one that kicked off the whole floating car thing.

F.Y.I., what I did with both this and the robots picture was to cut each robot/vehicle out individually from the various pieces of paper they were on, add a bit of tape to the backs of them, put them all on one sheet, scan the sheet, then use a photo editing program to get rid of the inevitable shadow lines that came about due to the paper being raised slightly. Looks nice and clean now!

Cool! I'm doing some small aircars in DKA at the moment and none are as intricate and well sculpted as that! They look super cool. Fav? Black one on top right! That's very well constructed dimensionally and I love the inking on it too.

Hey, you picked the oldest one. Cool! I have a soft spot for that one.

It looks a little odd, as if viewed through a fisheye lens, but it has some elements I like. That equipment in the front end, for example, is an engine destabilizer. When fired, it shuts off the engine of a pursuing vehicle, which is handy, because it was designed as a law enforcement vehicle for a game a friend made. I later did drawings of just that mechanism and some other mechanical engine-type things. They were incorporated into other vehicles I drew.

Wow, excellent work on your designs and your details. I like them all, but I think I like the bike one on the bottom left.

The insignia on the one in the middle in the second-to-last row looks kind of like the sign for the Romulan Star Empire. :anime: Yes, I have problems.

Actually, that's not toooooo far off. It's the symbol for the Rebel Alliance, but I probably wouldn't have thought of it again had you not pointed it out. Not sure why I added it, especially as I was more into the stylized V that's on the one a couple up from it.

The bike one in the lower left was based on the bikes in Jet Moto and some old game for the Sega Genesis that I can't remember the name of. I kinda like it. It's also a rare example of me drawing something pointing towards the right! :p

They're all so cool! I like the one with flames painted on.

*gasps* These are so cool!! I would love to own one of those at the very bottom left. Great details on all of them, my good sir. ^^

Argh, last time it was the robots, now its the vehicles and I still can't draw either of them .. I feel so inadequate :p

They're all great stuff but like SJJ I'm plumpimg for the black one on the top right side, it just jumps off the page. Also I like the bike at the bottom left and the little blue one 3rd down on the left (under the larger dark blue) which reminds me so much of an MG sports car - too cool!

Thanks, ma'am! It's a Cobra actually, but yeah, I was basically going for a classic car look. My mum likes MGs, too. So do I, but I prefer a nice British racing green Triumph TR6, with Union Jack intact. One of my dream cars, actually, and that exact one was in my old hometown. :)

I should try some more car/floating car hybrids. I like the way that little one turned out. I tried doing one as a McLaren F1 road car, but it was basically the same with panels over where the tires would be. Not very ambitious. :p I should try doing a Barracuda, GTO, Camaro or some such thing.

I'm thinking of doing another collage-type thing again. I have a bunch of little sketches related to the robots and vehicles. Even if I don't post it, I may do it for myself, because as of now, they're just on random, messy pieces of paper.

sorry, but I have to point this out. In britain, It started as the AC ace, not the AC cobra. Carrol Shelby widened the track, lowered it and stuck in a 427, and called it the shelby cobra.

Yeah, I'm anal about cars...

I've always called it the AC Cobra, as do those who made the 382,000 links that come up when you search for "ac cobra" at Google, including The UK Cobra Club, BBC's television show Top Gear, Cobracountry.com, Motor Trend Magazine, FIA.com, etc... And check out this February 2004 press release from carrollshelby.com, talking about the Shelby AC Cobra: http://www.carrollshelby.com/press/pr02-05-04.htm

Shelby Cobra is official, but so is AC Cobra. Shelby makes his own, and AC is still making their own versions in Surrey, England, which do not have the Shelby name. Together, it's the Shelby AC Cobra, as mentioned in that link from Shelby's official site. And I know about the Ace, as any self-respecting Cobra fan would.

P.S. It's Carroll, not Carrol. See, I can be anal, too. ;)

Interesting debate about the cobra thing. All I know is, those things you drew are great! I shy away from seating and navigation details, drawing things more like escape pods with no innards. Not at all realistic I know, but I'll get there some day.

I really like: most of them. It would take more time than I'm willing to sit here typing to point out all the stuff I enjoy looking at there. The roundish ones stand out for me, because that's the sort of style of things I make. The simple ones are really nice, and the detailed ones are really nice, and once again, I'm impressed by your style and attention to detail :)

Mind telling me what's that design on the rear/side of the flame-decorated one? And what's that word in front of the stylized V?

Well, apparantly the going thing with you two is to be "anal," (see post title ;)) so... I should mention, some of the seats sure look uncomfortable! I'd have to get some custom work done.... :D

GOB: That link you posted isn't loading for me. takes a while not to load, too. could be a temporary thing... *shrugs*

*thumbs up!*

No, I don't mind.

Ohhhh, you want me to tell you. Now, even!

Well, the one on the flamed car is a cartoony bull head with a puff of smoke coming out it's nose with the word "Toro" in it. Toro is also the word beside the V. It's the name of the engine type.

Glad you like 'em.

No dude, you soo want to trust me on this. It is the AC ace. It came first. Carroll (first one was a simple typo, no more) modded it up. It was the original. Shelby messed with body proportions, drive train, suspension and of course the engine and called it the cobra. Then AC made the equivalent of a cobra. It had a rockin' 90 hp, drum brakes and was in essence boring. Shelby jazzed it up.

heh, I dont even like the things. I'm a BMW expert. Oh well, the GT40 was a cooler car anyways.

I know that the Cobra came from the Ace. Every Cobra fan does! I'm not disputing that, and I already mentioned the Ace before.

You know what? I don't even care. You come in here to nitpick about one stupid little thing and say nothing about the reason that the thread was made in the first place. To me, that's just rude.

End of discussion, please.

You don't have to be so angry.

*ahem*
I formally apologize for trying to have a discussion with you. I did not realize communicating with me was such a burden. I will refrain from future contact with you.
