Is Despero a big time villain?

Is he? And just how powerful is he?

Began as sort of a lame-o space villain, but came back in the mid-90s as a real nasty customer with powers at Superman level.

Despero is a tough customer. He got somewhat of a power upgrade in the 90's. In the comics He has powerful telepathic abiliteis, can shoot energy blasts from his third eye , could fly, is supersrong and durable and able to survive the rigors of space unaided. He rarely rely's on his mental abilities other than tracking an individual telepatically. Despero is now more of a rageing force.
It has taken alot to take him down in the past. He once fought members of The JLA, JLE and Lobo to a virtual standstill.

And to add, he was the first villian the JL fought in their own book. He kinda looked like a big red fish with legs, arms, and another eye.

I didn't know he was that powerful. Now I really can't wait to see him in the show. Once again, thanks for the info guys. As you can see I don't know too much about DC characters.

yeah i hope they dont use his original look on the series. I like when they remade him with the fin more in a mohawk style and physically more beefed up

Knowing Timm and company they will probably use the most recent version of Despero or change his appearance some like Braniac.
