*Ahem* I logged on to TZ tonight and when to write a post, I was shocked to see Bosko off of the little list on the side. So I clicked more, and found a bunch of new smilies! Including, (get ready for this) Zim!!!! So, I'd like to thank TZ for new smilies!
Danke! (That's "thank you" in German, for those who don't know)

*sniff* None of mine will ever make it to the list. :(
That Zim though rocks way too much. Who did it?

:ack: - --. Now all we need is an "Ook" and an "Ahh-ahh!" and we can make a hit song.

:gir: Another new one. Gir in a dog suit, just in time for Invader Zim: Volume 3.

I still think that the box to the right should be reserved for the emoticon smilies, whereas the character smilies are kept in the "more" box. Having Zim, Gir, and Hello Nurse right under all the circular emoticons is a little distracting.
They're very cool, but like I said when there were three other random characters at the bottom, I just don't think they fit with the regular smilies box.
"Ack" does seem a little...redundant. It's nice, but I'm not sure it conveys anything that "eek" doesn't, as StarScream said.
As long as we're on the topic of smilies, I think something that conveys laughter better than :D , :) , or :anime: , would be very useful.

Does any one else have this one :scratchy: in their smilie box? I have not seen any one use it.

Well, weird....but I wanna see a bunch of more. Like blushing....that anger mark for anime...some moving stuff. I've seen some good smilies from other boards.

It's not like they're taking the place of any "normal" emoticons, though. Besides, most people aren't going to notice the existence of new smilies if they're kept hidden away.

There's a distinct shade of difference. You'll catch on, in time.

No idea, there.

We have blushing. :o
...anger mark?
And I feel moving things would get annoying all too quickly.

I understand. I wasn't saying it was a big deal, I just thought the smilies box might look a little nicer if it was more consistant.

I think I've already "caught on," and I still feel that the difference is slight enough that having both of them seems a little redunant. Again, I wasn't trying to say it was a big deal, just voicing my feedback and suggestions.

Anger mark? Do you mean the popping vein (a little cross shape) characters get on their forehead when they're angry? That would be neat, but I'd think it would be too hard to convey in such a small graphic as a smiley.

I love the Zim and Gir smilies.
Terrific use of just a few pixels.
A while back I suggested we need a D'oh! smiley, since it actually conveys an emotion that as cartoon lovers we're all familiar with. I tried making my own with limited success. Here's about my fifth and best try, still huge.

I'm sure with all the talent on Toon Zone someone else could do it much better, to the benefit of all Toon Zone kind.
Thought I'd add what may be another example.

What can http://www.forums.toonzone.net/images/smilies/ack.gif be used for that  can't be? I can barely see the smilies on this monitor. In my mind, http://www.forums.toonzone.net/images/smilies/ack.gif is for "oops! I shouldn't have said that!" The smiley Hagrid would use at least 4 times each post.
 to me is complete surprize. "Wow! I didn't expect to read that!!" and one emoticon that I never use because I have never seen anyone with a square mouth.

But if you did see one with a square mouth, would you use it out of surprise? :D

A billion smilies are submitted to Toon Zone every week, so we have to be picky on what gets used. Usually we throw a dart or flip a coin, but this week, we decided to to arm wrestle for it. After 48 hours of sore arms and empty soda cans stock piled in the living room, we decided on Zim, Gir, and Hello Nurse. Two are from space, and one is out of this world. Va va voom.

Picky, Picky.
I happen to smile a lot. I reflect that in my posts. As for the teeth, well, I have small teeth, and I'm envious of those with great big pearly whites.
And before anyone else jumps on it, no, I've never seen pink, orange, green, purple or blue people. My whole issue with the  face is just the mouth... for whatever reason, it bugs me enough to ruin the smiley.
I'm a girl, I'm entitled to be irrational about such things. :D
ps. Sorry for dragging this thread way too off topic. Not quite sure how it happened. Guess I'm just talented that way.

I still think we need more DC and Marvel smilies. I look at the selection of smilies and those seem to be the only ones really missing. I'd love to see these expand more.

YAY! We finally have a smiley to express complete and utter sadness! :crying: That's a strange thing to be happy about. O_o
Did they need to get rid of a Smiley to add that one, or did they just squeeze it in? The pallete looks a little reorganized.

The  smilie fell off into the "More" smilies page, so it's still available. I suppose if we ever get two more "regular" smilies, an extra row could be added to the pallete so all are visible.
And yes, they do seem to be reorganized... looks like some attempt at grouping them by row, I believe.

Speaking of the "more" option, I'm having trouble using it. When I click on it, nothing happens. Nothing pops up, and there are no error messages. I tried turning off any pop-up blockers, but I still have the same problem. I'm currently using IE as my browser.
Any idea on what could be causing this? Are there any settings I need to change?

One possiblity is your javascript could be turned off.
I'm not terribly familiar with the latest microsoft product off the top of my head, but I think you can check by going to
internet options -> security -> custom level -> scripting
But this advice may be worth the price you're paying for it.
Now that I think about it, you would probably be having other problems as well.
It wouldn't hurt to check though.
ADDED....
I just tried turinig the "Active Scripting" option to "Disable" and hitting the More tag didn't work anymore, so maybe I was on to something.

Since this is a smilie thread, I have a problem using the smilies (like when I try to click on them it brings me to the top of my page and won't let me use them), luckily I visit another board so I know a few shortcuts with the smilies by just typing it out, but I'm unable to use them. Plus also I'm unable to use the hyperlink or the insert image bar. :(
somebody please help.

I think you are having a javascript problem just like Shnay did.
But if you can remember all those codes, that will work too.

I wish we had a sleeping smilie.
As for the problem with the smilies, my sister has that problem on another board. She had to wirte down the codes everytime. Some won't work if she puts smilies
We also don't have Anime smilies, except the anime/girly smilie. Not sure if they'd fit. And it'll be a large list.
Well...whatever then.
