Toon Zone News recently had a chance to catch up to amazing artist Rick Burchett and ask him a few questions on his upcoming projects. Topics include Batman: The 10 Cent Adventures, Batman: Gotham Adventures, and his future works. Burchett is most known for his run on Gotham Adventures, but has currently been wowing audeinces with his work on last year's Batman/Huntress mini-series and his acclaimed issue of Detective Comics.

When asked about the work he did for Batman: 10 Cent Adventures, and what it was like to work on the title, Rick Burchett replied:
"It was an honor being asked to pencil the 10 cent adventure. Not just because of what it is but because of who I was able to work with. Sandwiched between Greg Rucka and Klaus Janson is a comfy place for a penciller to be."
"The joke is that of the team producing the book, I may be the only one old enough to actually remember 10 cent comics. But I think the most important aspect of the whole thing is that this is not just some throw away promotional gimick. The story fits into continuity and also serves as a jumping on point for new readers. Greg did a marvelous balancing act in pulling that off. Plus, it leads into the "Bruce Wayne, Fugitive"
storyline", said Burchett.
"You'll definitely get your money's worth." concluded Burchett.
Given his history with DC's animated titles, fans are eager to see any new animated work from the artist. Burchett was able to give us the lowdown on some of his upcoming animated works.

"That was great fun. Joe was one of the guys who gave me my first break in the business. Teaming with him again after all these years was very nice. I believe that will be issue #4. Even as we speak, I'm pencilling 10 pages of Gotham Adventures #48. This is another wonderful assignment. I'm working with Scott Peterson, who was my editor for so many years on the animated books and is a fine writer. Another homecoming. Unfortunately, I've become so typecast as the "cartoony guy" that editors seem to think that's all I can do. I've been trying to remedy this by landing assignments
outside that realm. "
Burchett still has alot fo work on his plate for the future, mostly mainstream work. One of his most anticipated projects is the back-up story he and Greg Rucka will be doing. He sheds a bit of light on the project.
"Following Gotham #48, I'm pencilling the Flash Annual for this year. It's a great assignment for an editor I haven't worked with previously, Joey Cavalieri. I'm really excited about this job on many levels. After that I'll be doing a fill- in on the monthly Flash title to give Scott Kollins a well deserved rest." said Bruchett. "Greg Rucka and I will be doing a backup feature for Detective Comics featuring the Question as soon as Greg has time, and then he and I have something in the works that we've been thinking about for a couple of years. We're hoping to get that off the ground. I'd love to land a regular book but that opportunity hasn't presented itself as yet."
