A Togepi Miracle/The Togepi Mirage
As Misty continues to spend time with Ash, Brock, Max, and May, General Hanson is still trying to steal her Togepi away! Pikachu and company are having some problems with Shedinja and Ninjask, but are saved by an enormous power! Later, Togepi leads the gang to a special paradise, where something truly amazing happens...
Comments: This is one of those landmark episodes, so make sure NOT to miss it!

As Ash and the gang head for the next Pokémon Contest & Gym, they encounter the Winstrate family, who brags about their son heading off to challenge the Elite Four, and challenge Ash to a Pokémon Battle. Meanwhile, Vito, the son of the Winstrate family, finds himself in the employ of Team Rocket...
Comments: Yet another Ruby/Sapphire sub-plot turned into anime form, though in the games you didn't meet Vito until much later.

Love at First Flight
Ash and the gang travel around and meet a Volbeat and Illumise. Team Rocket tries to snatch the Pokémon. Pikachu blows them away. I'm still angry at Kids' WB!, if you can't tell.
Comments: Volbeat could've been awesome as a Bug/Electric-type, but now he's merely "good" due to Signal Glow. Illumise is just useless.

I Feel Skitty!
On the way to Fallarbor Town, May comes across a cute little Skitty, who seems to have lost its scent. Determined to catch the Pokémon, May turns to Brock for advice on getting the Skitty to like her enough, and Brock suggests a treatment place. Unfortunately, Team Rocket, especially Meowth, have their eye on Skitty, and ready to take it at a moment's notice.
Comments: And here we get Skitty, who was damn ugly in the games and is even worse in the anime. On the other hand, it does learn a VERY useful attack later on.

Zig Zag Zangoose
As Ash and the gang continue their travels, they meet up with an old friend, Nicholai! He's also got a new Pokémon with him, a fiery little thing called Zangoose. However, when Team Rocket attacks the group, Jessie's Seviper goes into a wild rage and attacks Nicholai's Zangoose! Who will win?
Comments: As you probably know, Zangoose is based off a mongoose, and Seviper a snake, both of which are mortal enemies. If only Ash had one of these in Kanto...

Maxed Out!
As the gang head to Fallarbor Town, they head to a nearby Pokémon Center to rest. While there, though, they meet someone that looks exactly like Max, except 10 years older! Not only does this mystery guy look like an older Max, but he also talks like Max and has the same name! As Ash, Misty, and Brock take about 300 tons of Tylenol, the two Max's need to stop Team Rocket from kidnapping a Surskit!
Comments: Surskit would've been a really cool Pokémon, but it's stats suck and it evolves into a standard Bug/Flying Pokémon. Oh, and double the Max. I bet all you Max-haters will love this episode. ;)

Pro and Con Artists
After traveling for a long time, the gang have finally reached Fallarbor Town! May is psyched to be in another contest, but another Pokémon Coordinator named Grace presents a powerful challenge with her Medicham! As if things weren't bad enough for May, a certain green-haired Pokémon Coordinator with a Roselia arrives! Yes, it's Nichol from Gundam SEED!
Comments: Medicham is often known as the "Jedi Pokémon" since it's a Psychic/Fighting-type Pokémon. All it needs is a lightsaber! :D

NOTES

Kids' WB! continues to piss me off like none other.

Also this month, we get double the Max goodness! In one episode even!
And finally, May's second Pokémon Contest is here!
Oh, and I kill the schedulers at Kids' WB! for pissing me off.
My CN Talkback partner, Red Giant, is now doing the Yu-Gi-Oh! Talkbacks.

I have to say this was an excellent episode, it made the first one look sub-par by comparison!
The best part of the episode is how many loose ends it tied up. We now know Togepi's egg came from the Mirage Kingdom, and somehow it wound up in Granpa Canyon where they first found it. And of course Togepi's special powers finally come into play. Togepi evolving into Togetic was something nobody ever expected, and the writers surprised us when this happened.
Hanson is agreat character, when the writers really write something good they definitely do it well. I thought it was hilarious the way he said "I don't need you anymore" to TR and had Shedinja and Ninjask beam them away. http://www.serebiiforums.com/newforums/images/smilies/tongue.gif
The 3 way battle with Ash/May/Misty against Hansons Shedinja and Ninjask was great! Of course Misty having Gyarados was awesome, especially with Flamethrower. I liked the line where Ash was wondering where she got Gyara from.
The scene where Misty and Togetic said goodbye was very touching, I'm so glad the baby finally evolved and grew up. Looks like Togetic will take good care of the other Togepi. http://www.serebiiforums.com/newforums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif
The scene where Misty says goodbye to Ash, Misty, Brock and Max was good too.
Here's hoping Misty returns to watch Ash in the Hoenn League and May in the Grand Festival at the end of the region.
Really an awsome episode. We need more episodes like this.
10/10!

Here are the next four dub titles after "I Feel Skitty":
AG48: Zangoose & Seviper! Rival Confrontation!
Zig Zag Zangoose!
AG49: Max & Max! Protect Surskit!
Maxed Out!
AG50: Pokemon Contest! Fallarbor Convention!
Pros and Con Artists!
AG51: Vs. Medicham! Contest Battle!
Come What May!
The common theory right now is that "Love at First Flight" is being delayed until February, when a) it can fit in with any Valentine's Day theme the network may want to do, and b) so that they can pass it off as a "Lost Episode" during sweeps.

That was surprising! Seeing Misty choose a Gyarados (a water Pokemon) then have it use Flamethrower on Colonel Hanson's Shedinja. Then Togepi evolving into a Togetic was cool! But then after that it decides to stay with the other Togepi's in paradise, that was sad, after all of the time they've spent together.
Team Rocket got their revenge though for Hanson deceiving them, even though it was already bad what they were helping him in.
Now Misty leaves again? No fair. I wonder how long it will be before she returns again =(. It's great that Sarah was able to get a Togepi of her own though. =D
Super Effective! =D

Well, I had to watch this one. It was nice to see Misty again, but I see the show still hasn't changed...the glory of Season 1 is probably gone forever. As someone pointed out in another thread, 4Kids controls the Japanese production as well in a way; the Japanese producers no longer put in anything that could frighten a kid or offend a picky grownup.
"This magical realm grows on the goodness of the people! But now the trees are wilting because Hanson is so baddy-bad and not cute!" Uuuugggggghhhhh.
WHAT is Misty doing to May in that avatar??
when misty catch a gyarados?
She tamed it after it started rampaging in the Cerulean Gym.

this is just me but I think Advanced has already beaten the pants off of dusty old season 1 :) I don't know how much of the Hoenn saga you watched but if it hasn't been much you really shouldn't judge it on these last 2 episodes because they are more like Johto filler episodes then regular super good Hoenn stuff :)
also does anyone know where I can download the Advanced Challenge intro from? I thought kidswbs site might have it by now but not yet so far

Skitty's in the intro.
Yes, but not everyone knows that May gets Skitty. For the kids watching the show for all they know Ash could have that Skitty, or Max. The theme shows Skitty, but it doesn't exactly say it's May's.
Thus it's still a semi-spoiler.

Candid Camerupt
I have to say this episode was solid, nothing too special though.
The best part about it was showing Pokemon with attacks that could only be taught with TM's. Such as Zigzagoon with Thunderbolt and Alakazam with Rain Dance.
The battles were short, but funny. Brock lost really fast, jeez.
May's battle was great, I loved how seeing the Roselia motivated May to try really hard and win. Seems Max and the others are noticing she's become a better battler as well.
The Max and Rita battle crush was funny, until Corphish clobbered her Marill. :^O
And at least with Pikachu Vs. Camerupt they remembered that Camerupt was a Ground type. Plus for that. It was also nice to see a Swellow, we only saw it for a few seconds but we'll be seeing more of it later. Definitely a plus for the TM's and battles.
Another part of the episode that was amusing was May getting excited over her brother having a crush. And then when he started crying May did the "2 finger (pointer and insert finger) thing" with her hand. If you know what that symbolizes...

much much better then the last two episodes! four battles in one episode was a rush especially since they were quick and to the point :) Max's first love and battle were cool extras. he looked so cute when he blushed! the eruption was a crazy way to end a battle and the episode  also May won a battle and Brock lost one talk about a role reversal! the good stuff is back

-The trainer's choice was horrid. Both Roselia AND Plusle have an advantige against Mudkip.
-They...kept...Romeo's name? And the changing of Julie to Juliet was expected, but it makes sense.
-Romeo's accent wasn't...too...bad.

This episode turned out much better than I thought it'd be. May is an expert on love it seems. :x
Brock was hilarious in this episode, with the scenes between him and Juliet and the scene where he ran after Ash. :^O
I also thought May's voice sounded a bit different in this episode, a bit sweeter and softer. Hmmmm. I also liked it when May and Ash pulled out their Pokedex's at the same time to scan Volbeat and Illumise.
Good episode all in all, May winking at Ash at the end was cool too. ;)

Anyone notice how both May and Misty are so excited over love?
This episode was basically the Hoenn version of "Wherefor art thou Pokemon" from the Orange Islands with the two Nidoran.
Both Misty and May get so excited over love and over other peoples relationships yet neither admit to liking anyone themselves.

Brock and Ash simply stole the show today.
*When Brock was chasing Ash, I nearly lost it. All I could think of was that Ash better run, run like the wind and hope that Brock gets tired.
*Brock callling that guy, Romeo a loser was inspired.:D I said to myself, Brock sure his the nail on the head about that guy. He was a loser!
*Ash saying that Romeo sounded sick and needs to see a doctor was hilarious! Ash continues to be into his Pokemon and is so clueless!

1. Heh, Brock chasing Juliet using Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet quotes. If Brock knows about Shakespeare, then he should've seen the writing on the wall about how this Romeo and Juliet would end up. :D
2. "Juliet" Ash being chased by a love-blind Brock --> now Ash knows how the girls feel. :anime:
3. When eavesdropping, how could Juliet miss and not comment about how weird that Ash was dressed like her? And later, how did Ash change clothes so fast anyways? :ack:
4. May telling Ash that he'd understand when he's older... when Ash is even May's elder.

4. May telling Ash that he'd understand when he's older... when Ash is even May's elder. :sweat:Yeah, that really ticked me there. Even more that Ash didn't give a response, as opposed to May's line in the first place.
I found it kind of lame that they'd be cliché-ish and use Romeo and Juliet as the characters-of-the-day names... but finding out they're similar to the original names... that kinda bummed me out even more.
May and Misty excited over love? Doesn't surprise me much. I've seen many shows where the female characters are there just to fawn over guys. Whether it makes me want to watch them more depends on the series, of course.
Ah, Brock and... Ash dressed as Juliet? Has Brock become that desperate?
Final score: 2.5 out of 4.

Did anyone get any innuendo out of Brock saying he wanted to come into Eliza's "front entrance?" The way he stated that brought that up.
I loved the nod to James' old Victreebel when he saw the two Weepinbell. I also loved the fact that Meowth stated what happens to Team Rocket's pokemon, and how their lives will be unhappy blasting off every day. That was pretty itneresting the writers put it in to say the least.
I also think this was the first time May's Beautifly and Jessie's Dustox had a battle. Dustox doesn't seem to have a stand out personality though.
Overall Skitty looks pretty fun, a new humour pokemon for the group.
Looks like May and Skitty are the new Misty and Psyduck. Both Skitty and Psyduck caught themselves and both pop out by themselves.
Heh. Ash dressed as Seviper was pretty funny, he even mimiced Seviper's raspberries!
The Trainer's Choice was REALLY messed up. They chose Dewgong, whose Ice-type IS super-effective against Ninjask's Flying-type side. Torkoal, as a Fire-type is also super-effective against Ninjask's Bug-type side, and Nosepass is pure Rock, so it's super-effective against BOTH of Ninjask's types!

mr knicker-lover returns! of all the weird people to bring back I'm glad they chose him since he is pretty funny and does cosplay good :p Seviper and Zangoose are rivals? thats so strange they don't have much in common but they did have really good fights! we even got a little Skitty which is why I guess this episode was placed before the contest. can't intro a new pokemon and then go right to a contest where it would be ignored so I am rambling just happy to get 2 good episodes in one day :)

These trainer choices are getting pretty bad. Proof that 4kids has only minimal pokemon knowledge from the games.
"Zig Zag Zangoose" was hilarious.
Zangoose and Seviper's rivalry is shown in this episode and it was great to see Jessie mention Cassidy as her mortal enemy.
Meowth playing Jessie's role in the motto was hilarious! Also funny to see everyone running around trying trying to get Pikachu and May lands on top at the end. :^O
Also seeing Ash and Nikolai battling in Pokemon costumes = gold.

Seviper and Zangoose are rivals?
They're based on the real life 'rivalry' between snakes and mongooses.
These trainer choices are getting pretty bad. Proof that 4kids has only minimal pokemon knowledge from the games.
It's even stupider when you consider they didn't choose Torkoal, and Fire > Bug is one of the most common Pokémon type matches, coming right below Water > Fire, Water > Rock/Ground, Grass > Water, and Fire > Grass.
They should hire some big Pokémon expert to do the TC as well as double-check the scripts for any game errors. Kinda like how they hired a Transformers geek onto Beast Wars to help with the G1 stuff.

Both episodes were great, action filled, hilarious, and had great screen captures.
Skitty's gonna annoy me later on in the series, I just know it. It was cute and funny when skitty just popped out of the forest right in the middle when everyone was arguing about who had skitty. Torchic crashing into a rock=:D .
And I loved the little battle between Zangoose and Seviper. When Meowth tried to start the motto, James was clueless at what he was doing( Seeing meowth doing all those poses being knee-high compared to James was just cute). And the shorts-loving kid was annoying.

The first episode I missed, so I'll probably edit this for a review after the Friday repeat.
The second was "ZigZag Zangoose!," and it was good. You know, if Jessie was that passionate about training as a whole, not only would she and the others have captured Pikachu a long time ago, but we'd be talking about her training to be a Pokémon Master! I never liked the knickerbocker guy a lot... strange how I don't remember much of his first appearance. Seeing this episode after missing Skitty's debut in the earlier one did kinda spoil it for me... but it owns! Skitty will bring more life to this series than Togepi, Totodile, and Psyduck combine. Yes, I'm saying this even though I'll probably saying otherwise several months down the road. And yeah, the Trainer's Choice thing would probably tick me off too if I had the Ruby and Sapphire games. Final score: 3 out of 4.

Ahahha, Jessie stole the show in "Maxxed Out".
In every episode where Jessie's hair gets damaged in some way she goes nuts, she almost crushed them all with a giant hammer.
And Skitty is really awfully cute. I can see now why they wanted to market Skitty with May, they make an awesome team.
Suskrit and the Max clone were alright too, and I liked how May tried to get them to stop arguing.
And Jessie almost slammed May with a hammer! The nerve of her. http://www.serebiiforums.com/newforums/images/smilies/tongue.gif

Grr... When I turned to Kids WB and saw that Max clone, I was filled with such a powerful rage. I heard my siste rupstairs hiccupping and panicking when she turned to it... We were freaking out man. I couldn't even finish the episode, I just wanted to punch him right between the eyes. So great was my rage. ~_~
Gee, they're really making the May/Drew romance subtle, aren't they?
So...I'm guessing the paint is non-toxic, correct?
Well, the Trainer's Choice is better this time around, but they still need more research. Geodude is the obvious choice, but some Lanturn have the "Volt Absorb" ability, which allows Lanturn to regain HP when hit with an Electric-type attack.

I love how they're developing May's character more and more with each new contest. It seems more "real" that way, such as deciding not to use Team Rocket's Poke Block, as well as being confused on the best strategy to win the contest.
Ash and Drew's battle was good, too bad Taillow lost. http://media.ign.com/boardfaces/2.gif
There's also a bit of a rivalry between Ash and Drew somewhat, dunno if anyone noticed this. Perhaps over May?
Team Rocket's scheme was entertaining, such as Wobbufett in the trenchcoat and Cacnea with makeup.
Great episode.

now this was a really standout episode. who knew tomboys was a type match for Brock? and Drew was a good battler and even beat Ash but thats probably because Tailow hadnt got much battling lately :( May really is a beginner but it was shoved in her face way to much in this episode :( lets hope she can rebound and win a ribbon! but the best part was "cool" Wobbufet! :D
Gee, they're really making the May/Drew romance subtle, aren't they?
what what? you mean May and Ash right?

 Ash better try harder next time if thats the case!

For some odd reason, I watched the second episode today. It was OK, but not a stand out episode, of course, I havnt seen any others in this season. :D

I can't really see them together. May MIGHT have some sort of attraction to Ash (it'd have to develop a few years and stuff), but remember the age-old rule of anime: If a boy and girl are rivals, they are destined to fall in love.
Brock still has mudkip right?Yea, he does. Mudkip is basically like Zubat in Kanto, it only shows up every 20 episodes or so. :P Hence why it doesn't evolve yet.

"Maxxed Out" had a so-so feel to it. An older, taller kid, who has the same name as and resembles Max, drops by, and boy, does he have an attitude! Not much to say about this one... though having May calm down two Maxs at once wasn't easy! Oh, and Jessie, Jessie, Jessie. You mess with the girl's hair, you're just asking for trouble.
"Pros and Con Artists" was the best 'filler' episode for this show in a long, long time! It was filler only because we didn't get to see the second Pokémon Contest... that's saved for next episode. That girl (forgot her name... that's what I get for reviewing this the Thursday after) who was helping May out had a few screws loose... the right screws to be downright hilarious! As for Drew... yeah, there's an odd tension between them. Just why does he keep picking on her? Isn't there someone else? That being said... I just can't wait for the sparks to fly if those two face off again. And not's let forgot about Ash, the 'leader,' who got his butt kicked. He could've used Pikachu, but no, he had to go and pick Taillow. He went easy on Drew, I think.
"Maxxed Out" gets a 3/4. "Pros and Con Artists" gets 4/4 (show of the week!).

I'm saddened that Tailow lost the match against friggin Roselia. Roselia's a crappy Grass-type, it should've gone down to two Wing Attacks! Then again, it may just be the fact that I actually like Tailow (as opposed to Noctowl, who sucks) and want to see it win a lot of battles (instead of being treated the way poor Pidgeotto was treated).
Of course, the two-parter where Ash goes after his 7th Badge made me happy, if a little confused.
In Maxxed Out, where was Corphish when the group was all released at the same time?

I don't remember seeing Lotad either, although I could be wrong.

Lotad was there, Corphish was the only one missing (Although I think Mudkip was as well).

Mudkip does seem to be missing:
