Truly silly, if you ask me. The PS2 has a HUGE lead, Sony would make a big mistake if they didn't try to milk that thing for a long while. Not to mention that they'd seriously annoy the public by introducing a new console in, what, two more years? I doubt the technological advances would be great enough to make it noticeably better. The machines are so powerful now, better tech is getting us diminishing returns... (notice how the PS2, Gamecube and Xbox stuff more or less looks on the same graphical level to the average person?)

More than likely, the president is spouting off. The prez of Nintendo says infuriating things all the time ("Who the hell needs online play?"), but the rest of the company tries to ignore him (the Gamecube will be online eventually).

Yeah Yamamuchi is some kind of guy isn't he? He he.

I don't know though, it seems to me that tech is advancing so fast, that it may be 2 years before the next true graphics jump.

(I would say the last one was with the Dreamcast)

I bet sometimes next your they release a PS2 bundled with Hard Drive and ethernet for the $300 price point though, these are the main things he points out as being the X-Box advantage.

Look Dreamcast users are not happy with the short life it got so natch if a Playstation 3 came out Sony would have the same problem. Not too mention PSX seems to be taking its sweet time to totaly fade out and die and it would be really confusing to newbies if it was still around when Sony released PS3.

I agree with what Mad Hatter said. The time when you could tell the platform by the graphics is over and the line is starting to blur
