I know many users here on ToonZone that live in Washington State some what know about this Volcano that eurupted on May 18th, 1980, it seems this looks pretty much dying down well even though these are very small earthquakes and stuff, I got a bad feeling there was an issued alert regarding this and I need to view some concerns if even by a slight chance this will explode once again, here is the info that was posted,

http://www.pnsn.org/NEWS/PRESS_RELEASES/MSH_09_2004.html

And please note, don't be alarmed yet since they said that this was going to calm down.

I wouldn't worry about it. I was alive when the volcano errupted - granted, I was less than a year old at the time, but my parents also remember it. They were out in the garden and heard the explosion all the way from here - and we're a good 200 miles away (at least).

As far as I remember, there was no huge effect on Washington State (save for the actual area around the mountain itself) aside from the clouds of ash that were pushed eastward as far as Spokane and the Rockies in Montana.

But hey, what do I know?

It wasn't Mt. St. Helens that erupted in 1980; it was Mr. Rainer. It's my understanding that not only is Mt. St. Helens larger than Mt. Rainer, but it's also closer to urban areas like Seattle...

Errr...I don't know if/when Mt. Rainier ever errupted, but I do know for a fact that Mt. St. Helens blew in May 1980. You're right though - Rainier is a lot closer to the larger urban areas of Washington State and points north.

I've studied Earth Sciences... I knew about things like Earthquakes and Volcanoes when I was graduating High School (The Eruption at Mount St. Helens, Occurred on a Sunday Some 2-3 weeks before I graduated, an I followed the Daily reports after that eruption during the summer of 1980.. so belive me I wouldn't Put it out of my mind.. and if this was Rainer they were talking about.. I defintely would be concerned.. after all Seattle is within Eyeshot of Rainer...

After all this...

is Seattle and that Big Volcano sitting in the background is Mr. Rainer.. Not Mount St. Helens..

After all I'm just waiting for the San Andreas Fault (Southern Section) to move..(The Big one as you call it..)
