I think the title says it all, but...i really liked the costume Timm gave Robin in TNBA. I like how there's no green, just red, yellow and black.
So yeah, was this all Timm's doing, or did this costume ever appear in the comics?

That version never appeared in the regular comics to my knowledge. Robin has always had some green in there.

To my knowledge, the TNBA Robin Suit has only appeared once in the comics,: on the Michael Turner cover to Teen Titans #1, the areas of the suit that are traditionally green are most definitely black. Other than that, comics Robin has always had some green in his suit. I think it's kind of a shame, because personally, I vastly prefer the TNBA color scheme. It looks darker and more intimidating.

I never liked the TNBA Robin suit. Green was one of his primary colors! You can't just drop it! It made his suit look to overloaded with red. IMO, dropping the green from the Robin suit was like dropping the gray and dark blue from the Batman suit and reducing it to basic black. Not good.

His glove's pretty green in my scan. That's the only part that's supposed to be green that I can see on the cover.

I never liked the animated Tim Drake costume.....green is a big part of Robin's look.
Also, it kinda bothers me that they skipped over Jason Todd...i know S&P probably wouldn'tlet them adapt the death storyline, but couldn't they have done something with Jason? I know Jason was a dick, and I don't mean Grayson, but still, he is a big part of the Batman & Robin legacy

There's a pic of the TNBA Robin. At first I didn't like the "all red" look either, but it grew on me quickly. Dropping the green was a quick way of being able to differentiate one Robin from the other. It made Tim's costume his own.
I don't see why not having the green is such a big deal.

Not good.Totally agree, I think the TNBA's entire Robin design was an eyesore. The costume, the body type, everything, he was like 3'10" or something! They had this lillipution Robin grappling with Clayface and it was just comical to see him try to hurt a mammoth mutated freakazoid like that, it was so bad.
Not only Robin's but Catwoman, Joker, Killer Croc and Riddler were just repugnant and inexcusably simplified/"steamlined:rolleyes:" to the point of wretched:eek:. Maybe the worst collective character designs I've ever seen in the history of super hero animation. I think Harlequinn was the only one they didn't tinker with, hmmm wonder why, not too biased guys.
With TNBA sometimes the collective character designs were so abhorrent that it actually ruined the "animation" or moreover not care about it because what was being animated was just so visually repellant to watch move that I would have to watch X-Men TAS or the second season of Iron Man just to cleanse myself.

I think the TNBA Robin design was the best ever. The outfit with the green was just awful, particularly the one in the comics with the little green shorts, bare legs, and fairy-shoes. Even Siegfried and Roy thought it was a bit too camp. TNBA Robin not only looked better than previous Robins, but he was also a much better character compared to Dick Grayson, who was alwyas a bit of an idiot. For some reason, he always reminded me of Cyclops from The X-Men in terms of his lame personality.
There were a few TNBA designs that didn't really work too well, but overall I think they looked great, particularly the Bat-Family... with the exception of Nightwing's mullet.

personally, i think the TNBA Robin design was great... it fit in with the dark-coloured nature of the Bat-team... with Batman only having grey and black as the primary colors, and Batgirl & Nightwing having black as the dominant color, dropping the green from Robin's costume was a good move.
despite his height, I think the design of Robin's costume gave him a little bit more of a darker visual edge... something that I've never really seen in the comics (for any 5 of the Robins; in canon or elseworlds)
plus, like TimTwoFace said, it was a good way of differentiating the "Dick Grayson" Robin and the "Tim Drake" Robin.
most of the redesigns i wuz fine w/, like penguin, bane, and scarecrow (especially)... the only redesigns i hated were killer croc and joker... at least joker wuz cleaned up for ROTJ and JL.

My favorite version of the Robin costume to date is the Teen Titans one, which gets everything in proper proportion and realizes that Red is NOT the new Green. Though I do have a certain affection for the original version of the suit as my avatar attests too...

So...Robin's feet are supposed to be so big they look like clown shoes? And his eyes are supposed to be as big as spider-man's? And his hair is supposed to be as big and outrageous as calvin's?
Odd definition of "proper proportion"...

Except for your description of the feet, the rest still sounds like the design from TNBA.
By the way, does anybody else think the costume designs for Pixar's upcoming Incredibles movie owe a slight nod in the direction of the TNBA Robin?

Knew I recognized that color scheme and I just could place it. Silly me, I even have my Robin maquette next to the TV!
Anyway, I always thought Tim Drake’s costume made a lot more sense. I mean Batman is the Dark Knight with the whole working in the shadows thing and all. Robin’s classic outfit just didn’t quite fit with the whole Batman persona and mantra. Just my 2 cents.

I do hope you're confusing Young Justice with Teen Titans.

Obviously I was talking about the color scheme of the costume when I was talking about proportions. If you read the post in context, you'd know that.
And don't rag on TT character design, it may be a bit cartooney, but it still looks way better than most of what was done of TNBA.

Anyone who says "Drop the green," well, it's sort of like, I don't know, missing the point. Bob Kane originally drew Batman and Robin to be references to Douglas Fairbanks characters. Batman was a reference to Zorro, Robin a reference to Robin Hood. (Robin...Robin Hood...Get it?) With out the green, the suit doesn't work.

Yeah but every robin having the same colors is stupid. It makes them no different from the previous. Jason Todd looked so much like Dick grayson i doubt anyone could tell the different. To me TNBA was good for the show.

Thing is, I don't see how it would single out Tim from Dick because it was Dick's costume in the first place, (The one he was supposedly using when he was younger.) Tim Broke it out of the case to go after Two-Face. So it's not like it was Tim's unique costume.
On a side note, anyone notice that Hawkgirl's costume uses the same colors as the Robin Suit? Wonder what that means...

No...the original poster was talking about the Teen Titans Robin:
"My favorite version of the Robin costume to date is the Teen Titans one, which gets everything in proper proportion and realizes that Red is NOT the new Green. Though I do have a certain affection for the original version of the suit as my avatar attests too..."
And according to:
http://www.gamerscircle.net/images1/TeenTitansRobinMaquette.jpg
The Teen Titans version has eyes that are way too big, feet that are way too big, and hair that is way too crazy...for my tastes anyway.

Obviously I was talking about the color scheme of the costume when I was talking about proportions. If you read the post in context, you'd know that. No, it's really not that obvious:
"My favorite version of the Robin costume to date is the Teen Titans one, which gets everything in proper proportion and realizes that Red is NOT the new Green."
You said "gets everything in proper proportion". Well "everything" implies...well, everything, including bodily proportions...and since you used the word "proportions", which is often used to refer to body types, as opposed to say, oh, "color scheme," people could easily be confused.
I did read it in the proper context...don't blame me because you weren't clear.
And don't rag on TT character design, it may be a bit cartooney, but it still looks way better than most of what was done of TNBA.I disagree, i like TNBA much better. So you have your opinion and i have mine, lovely.
