Rick Burchett has informed me that he will be pencilling 10 pages in an upcoming issue of Gotham Adventures!! Not only that, he'll be inking issue #4 (slated) of Justice League Adventures. I know one person who will definatly be pleased with this news. :) I'll have more, like issue number, soon. Stay tuned to the newspage for updates on this!
Also, Burchett will soon be doing the back-up in Detective Comics! How sweet is that? This guy deserves to be on a mainstream title, and I'm glad the back up will help him get one step closer!

I'm intrested in knowing if they take art submissions for the animated titles. Who would the best person to write to about that?

Anyways, back on topic - I think Burchett returning is interesting. And sincwe hes only doing 10 pages, I wonder if this will be a fill in issue by multiple artists or if it will be a Levins/Burchett split issue.

Thank God! I love Burchett's work! He is in my opinion the best penciler since Mike Parobeck (I hope his last name his spelled right). It may not be full-time, but I'm looking forward to it! I just hope it comes in the mail on time for once. I've got a subscription, and I just got (believe it or not) issue 35 in the mail. What bugs me, is I got all the later issues though, and when I called DC they said they couldnt' send me another copy for reasons I can't remember.

I really dont get why everybody is so harsh on Tim Levins. I think stuff looks great and is 50 times better than any mainline bat-title right now.
The biggest complaint seems to be that he doesnt stick to the Bruce Timm style totally verbatum. Well neither does Aluir Amanico folks. In my opinion Tim perfectly balances his own flair and the standard TAS style.
Now, more on topic: I am extremely glad to see Rick Burchett back in action.

FREAKIN' AWESOME!!! I was just admiring his work in the issue 6 of Last Laugh. That's great news, tho I wish it was more than just ten pages. Cross my fingers for future issues...

I think it's cool that's he's returning to his roots for one issue. I like it. I can't wait to see more of his mainstream stuff in the upcoming year.

Come on, give him a break!!! His work took some getting used to, but it's grown on me as I've said before. And you have to respect him for what he does, I mean do you draw a comic book monthly? Probably not... and it's probably not a good idea to bad mouth him like that. He drops by here every once in a while...

This is great! One thing bugs me though... the issue he inked was pencilled by Joe Staton... damn! I was hoping the guy (Staton, not Burchett!) was gone for good...

I am very glad to see Rick Burchett return to Gotham Adventures, even if it is only for ten pages. The only reason I can think of for this is that the story may contain a sort of "Flashback" which requires art that resembles the first issues of Gotham Adventures or The Batman and Robin Adventures. Then again, I doubt Peterson would come up with an idea that creative. I just hope he isn't "filling in" a few pages just because Levins wasn't around. There styles are totally different. Burchett can draw the faces of the characters like they appear on the shows and on the model sheets. He can also draw proportional bodies, costumes, angles, backgrounds...heck, what can't he do? Levins on the other hand....well, he can draw, but not really nail the animated style. To me, Burchett, Templeton, Timm (duh!) and Parobek (I hope I spelled that right) are the only people who's work we've seen in the animated Batman comics who can draw the animated style consistently. If we'd get to see Aluir Amancio, Mike Manley or Bret Blevins take a crack at B: GA, I might add a few more names to the list. Rousseau just doesn't nail it all the time, and his fill in issues of B: GA were pretty gross. Levins came as a relief around issue #17 (was it?) from Rousseau's gross issues, but he has overstayed his welcome as far as I am concerned. The art doesn't look right, it's nothing personal.
Here's hoping Peterson doesn't butcher Burchett's brief return.

Yah, ur right, sorry Levins, I shouldnt be so 'harsh'. I'll have to watch that:rolleyes:
anywayz, I agree wit u guys about how Rosseau and that other guy's work always looks OH SO sloppy, like they rushed thru it in a few hours!
It just ruins the book when the art isnt good!!!
WHY CANT B:GA GO BACK TO WHAT IT WAS LIKE IN ISSUES 1-12??!!!!!! All action-packed and full of the Colorful,,COSTUMED, named supervillains!!!

I really dont get it. :(
Aluir Amanico (who I do like) departs *alot* away from the Bruce Timm style and everybodys got nothing but praise for him.
Tim Levins who I quite frankly think stays *very* much on model and just balances it out with a touch of his own flare gets totally over critcized and even insulted.
Big panels aren't evil either folks, they work when they guy knows what he's doing and Tim is one of those guys.
Tim Levins is one of the reasons I wish DC actually gave a damn about the aniamted books. If he had the stories to back up his art then there would truly be a wonderful alternative to the mainline gunk.
Sorry folks, but for my money Tim Levins is the best Batman artist going. Why? Well his stuff happens to look like (but a nice variation of) that Bruce Timm guy. You know, the one who designed TAS.

If this thread turns into a flame war, which is quickly happening, then I will have to close it and send warnings to all involved. If you have problems with this post, then email me, don't post about it. I've seen this before and I know where it's heading. I'm just dropping in here for a friendly reminder. Everyone has differet opinions and no one shouldn't be blasted or insulted becuase of this. I post this becuase I'm worried this thread is turning into a flame war so I'm asking everyone to take a breathe, count to five and just chill before replying again.

It's really hard for me to judge animated artwork, because everyone is basically copying Bruce Timm's style. I just don't like when artists are a nearly direct copy of another artists. I mean, art is one of the main things people look at when deciding whether or not to get a comic (for some it's first priority). An artist should have their own unique take on a character. Influence from other artists is one thing, but it's just not cool to have nearly the same thing. I guess that's one of the main reasons I just can't get into the animated comics (although I will give JL Adventures a shot, mainly for the rotating creative teams).

I like what you wrote Kid_Flash, because it shows that you are instightful:)
Although I do not love Tim Levins' art, he should be commended for not making it look like a carbon copy of someone else's art. I though, happen to enjoy art that follows Timm's style as closely as possible. I do love Templeton's style, though it isn't exactly the same as Timm's. What do you guys think about Templeton's style?
In any case, I have always been very picky - I like my Batman to look a certain way. I don't enjoy how all of Levin's characters look like clones of one another. If you look at the noses of his male characters, they all seem very long, and the women all look alike. Take his Talia for example. Just put a red wig on her and she's Barbara Gordon! Then again, many of Timm's ladies look alike, as do Templetons. It's just a matter of taste. I just want those working on B: GA to try to match my taste sometime soon. I guess #48 is as close as I'll get to feeling good about this series again:( :( :( :( :(

Yes, Bobby Boy 1, I do "run" this place, hence the 'Webmaster' title under my name as well as my name featured throughout the admin section of WF.
As for animated art, I don't really want a carbon copy, but I'd like for the artists to remain in a certain criteria when doing the art. There are instances when the artist for an issue is just so far off base, it barely resembles the style. Then again there are some artists who have it right on, like Cameron Stewart for example. I guess it heavily relies on personel preference, as well. For a picky person, then it would likely be a bit difficult to find the perfect penciller.
