Is Doraemon airing in the USA?

Doraemon, a character from an immensely popular comic book and a TV series of the same name, is the centerpiece of a new series of stamps released Friday in Japan to the kind of clamor usually reserved for pop singers and sumo wrestlers.
Doraemon looks like an earless blue cat, but is, in fact, a robot from the 22nd century sent to assist a likeable fourth-grade knucklehead named Nobhttp://www.srinaiweb.com/website/cartoontour/doraemonsm.gifi Nobita.

Doraemon, himself, is something of a bumbler, but has a front pocket from which he manifests all kinds of wondrous gadgets from the future.

Among them are a Wherever Door (which allows Nobita -- his first name -- to walk through it to wherever he wants to go), an air gun (a tube attached to the finger which produces a blast of air that knocks people over) and the Gulliver Tunnel (which allows Nobita to shrink).

Doraemon first appeared around 1970, and it is clear from his reception Friday that the Japanese think he's still worth standing in line for.

No clue, but ShoPro Entertainment (http://www.shopro-entertainment.com/doraemon.html) does own the US liscense to it, so it could turn up at some point. (Note: they have had the liscense for several years and have made no moves with it.)

It's described right there on top of the page: a robot cat (even though he has no ears - he's well-known for that) from the future.

The early stuff is not marketable with its dated Lupin-era animation.;)

Yep, Doraemon is an icon in Japan. Great concept, too. Nobita is the knuckleheaded loser you can't help but relate to. Doraemon comes from the future to set Nobita straight, because apparently everyone in the future is worried that he turns out a bum, and ruins his whole family. :D

See for yerself! (http://www.fcc.gov/cgb/kidszone/) :D

Just kidding. I don't really think it's him. There's only so many different ways one can draw a cat, so it's not inconceivable they arrived to a similar design. Besides, that has ears. :sylvester

Nobita is Japan's answer to Charlie Brown.
