Boy, did this one have more holes in it than swiss cheese or what? Everything with this "villian" tonight just didn't sit very well with me.

First, he has, what? 6 hours of exposure to Kryptonite? And he turns into an ice man who needs body heat to survive? I liked the scene where they tried to explain it scientifically. Admirable at best, but I didn't buy it.

Second, when he absorbs the heat from the camp fire, the fire turns in to ICE????? And the candle flames turn into ICE after he walks by??? Ok, assuming fire could turn into water, and thus also turn into ice, why didn't the matches turn into little sticks with ice at the end of them when he was lighting them. I seriously doubt there is any scientific basis that fire would turn into water. Just not gonna happen.

And that girl's body BROKE when she fell. We all heard her SHATTER. Yet they found her lying dead? Why wasn't the bizzare way she died broadcasted all over the news? They would have found hundreds, maybe even thousands, of pieces of human all over the place. They would have been talking about that in the news.

At the end, he gets stuck in a frozen lake? So? The lake will thaw. He survived in a lake of ice before, so why not now?

Aside from the Lex "why won't the Kents like me" story arc (that is also getting old), the highlights of this episode were Clark managed to hook up with Lana (WAY TO GO CLARK!) and NO Kryptonite weakend Clark at his moment of triumph! Oh, and he didn't rip off a door, he just broke it down. And still managed to keep his powers a secret. Amazing.

This episode only gets a C rating with me.

I pretty much agree with what you said. I started loving this show by as the weeks go by, I'm hating it more and more. Not one villain so far got my attention. I getting pretty tired of the way the villains are made in the show. The only bright point so far is Lex, you can see that something is going on there with him. Other than that, I felt like I've watched the same 5 episodes 5 weeks in a row.

Yeah, I had the same thoughts as you calhoun. The villian wasn't the best, and the fire turning into ice just wasn't right (even if it was pretty schway looking:D).
And maybe since the Sean just got stuck in a lake of ice, he'll be back later, but who knows?
The no kryptonite weakening of Clark definitely was better this episode. I was so happy when Clark got a date with Lana! But of course, he had to go save people and Whitney ended up with the girl again. So now Lana doesn't seem like she'll have the same trust in Clark, since he's not "always there for her" like Mr. Quarterback is. Oh well, I guess we'll see next week. Speaking of which, does anyone think the coming episode will have anything to do with kryptonite villians? It seems to me like that old lady could have had psychic powers before the meteor shower.

i try not to look at the small things as much since its only a tv show, i try not to let it bother me and most of the time it doesnt. but the whole kyptonite thing is kind of annoying.

I did notice something else in this episode. When Clohe realized Clark asked Lana out, you could see something in her eyes. I think she has something for him, in the same way Clark has something for Lana.

The episodeonly had to good parts to me

When Clark is in his basket looking for clothes and then Cloe says, "You look good in blue. Or blue's your color." Just like Superman

And Clark does have a hot mom.

Id have to say this is probably the best episode since
the pilot.

Lets just forget the villan of the week .
Thats not what makes this show work , or even why
most of us watch.

This episode finally had some character development ..

Lex interacting with the Kents is always interesting.
Lex makes this show work big time .
Although this blind distrust of Lex by Jonathan is
becoming unrealistic, and almost out of character for
Pa Kent.

The Clark and Lana date ..very cool ...the slow discovery of
lana that Clark has feeling for her.

Clark having to leave romance for the superheroics ...nice touch.

Thank God ... no kryptonite this episode (other than the villan
getting powers portion).

Actually though, Lana didnt have her knecklace on last night in the limo. I dont like that this jewelery is bieng used whenever
convenient for the writers. Either she wears it all the time or she
doesnt.

Not bad ep, once again the villain was less than inspriing and the action scenes were abrupt at best, but I think the main reason why I continue watch Smallville is because of the character interactions, Lana and Clark, Lex and Clark, etc.

I also noticed that Chloe seemed to have a little something for Clark.

This would've been a good episode to establish Clark's heat vision.

Shouldn't Chloe be getting suspicions that Clark has some kind of power? First he knocks down a locked door, admittedly not necessarily super-hero material. But then he punches through inches of ice to free her leg, his hand comind out unscathed. Then he punches Kelvin 50 feet away from them. Put 1 and 1 and 1 together, and I think Chloe has a lot to learn before she reaches Lois' level. I was also wondering why Clark didn't tell Lana he had to help Chloe. It would've at least made him seem like less of an invalid. And in a small town, wouldn't news like that go around quickly?

I was also wondering about how the cops realized the dead girl was Jenna. Pieces! And if they melted, you know the mess that would've caused? eww.

next week's ep seems cool. It doesn't look like there's a kryptonite villain.

I enjoyed the ep last night. Freezer boy wasn't a great villian though. This ep did seem to deal more with character interactions. Clark getting to go out with Lana was great, and the guts he showed at the end when he asked her again was impressive. Chloe does seem to have something for Clark. You could see it on her face and in her eyes when Clark mentioned the date with Lana.
I thought a funny line near the beginning was when Clark said he comfortable after Chloe said she was freezing. She said something about coming from an ice planet (a nod, perhaps, to the version of Krypton in the Superman movies?). Also, the comment about Clark looking good in blue was amusing.

I think it was mentioned in the pilot that Chloe has the hots for Clark. It was when we first me her and Pete. Chloe and Pete were having a conversation and Pete made a comment about her liking Clark.
I did like how at the end when Lana tells Clark why she stays with Whitney. He just stood there dejected until he was alone. A good metaphor to how he really is feeling.

ps-I am confused about Lex's motives for helping the Kents. He really seems like he wants to help Clark and the family. But, then you saw the scene from last week. Where he wants the reporter to investigate his wrecked car. My only theory is that he thinks something about Clark is "Super" and he wants him on his side.

What's so interesting about Lex is that he's Lex. All of his notorious history that we're aware of. The writer's have made him likable, but at the same time we're (the viewers) all suspicious because of his history. He's a guy you don't want to get mixed up with, like Pa Kent's been doing, but at the same time you don't want to piss him off cuz he can destroy you. And Lex looked a tad bit ticked after finding out the Kent's took out another bank loan. So in trying to help out the Kent's, is he trying to be genuinely helpful or does he have some sinister motives in mind?

The thing that i can relate to most from this ep is the "just friends" crap. I've realized that minus all the cool things, i'm pretty much the same as Clark.

But anyway, this one wasn't too good, but it wasn't too bad.

I just have one more thing to add: At the very beginning, when Chloe is justifying her attractiveness to Clark, she says something like "you don't have to have dark raven hair and the initials LL to be attractive." Perhaps the writers were also hinting at his attraction to his future wife.

Knowing how sick everyone is of the kryptonite villain of the week aspect of the show, i"ve read some spoilers and am happy to report that they will be deviating from the formula in the future. Unfortunately, it wont be for another few episodes though.

I really don't see how next week's ep could have anything to do with Green K.

I am really thrilled to see an old favorite (sorry, she doesn't deserve to be called old!) making a cameo in next week's episode. I recognised her as the woman fortelling the doom of someone Clark holds dear. Jackie Burrough's played Aunt Hetty in the Wonderful series entitled "Road to Avonlea" which I watched faithfully as a youngster. See is really great at facial expressions and showing both strength and inner weakness, which was what her character on "Avonlea" was all about. I wish I could meet her...

I used to watch Avonlea, too and was very happy to see Jackie Burroughs in the Smallville trailer as well. She was also in Anne of Green Gables as one of the reciters at the Carmody concert where she recited 'The Wreck of the Hesperus.'

Well, I think I know how Sean would die in the water. I remembered he lived for a whole night underwater. I just also realized that he can get heat from water. So, as he stays underwater, he'll lose heat, and get more from the water. Gradually, he'll freeze all the water there until he is trapped in ice.
