Here's something I wish that cartoon network could really do. Have an online poll for a viewers choice week. I don't know about anyone else, but I'm tired of seeing the same old shows repeated day in and day out. Scooby Doo is one example, Cartoon-olio is another example, where they repeat the same Cartoon Cartoon shows over and over again. No matter how good they may be, you can always have too much of a good thing.

So, now that the AOL - Time Warner merger is complete, here's a way to put that money to good use.

First, have a general open forum for animation fans of all ages to post on the official Cartoon Network site. Ask fans wich shows they would like to see, no matter what era they may be from. Wich shows they would like to see revived with new episodes, and what new blocks of programing they would like to have.

Give the board about 4 months to generate ideas and opinions, having Cartoon Network executives or helpers reply to some of the better ones along the way. After the 4 months are over, close down the board and organize the ideas for another month. Announce the more popular ones about 5 months down the line, or at least the ones they where able to secure as far as show aqcuisition goes.

Once all that is done, this thing could split off into two areas. Have a Viewers choice week on the network, where Viewers pick their favorite shows all throughout the day by calling in to the network. In the prime time slots, air the new shows that where picked by the fans.

Two years down the line, if the network decided to abide by the fans choices to renew old shows, air these in another prime time block.

If this effort is successfull, do it once every five years, so as to keep on making the Cartoon Network broadcast schedule fresh and have people tuning in throughout all times of the day...

Anyone else agree-disagree? Too bad it's too much of a pipe dream to actualy have happen...

I'm afraid the cynicism and disappointment in me feels as though that's already been tried. Remember that vote Toonami had to bring back one of the Toonami toons they stopped showing? I THOUGHT Batman/Superman would be a dead heat with all the buzz I heard about the votes for them, but OUTLAW STAR won! Oh well, that was way before I was this close to JL being on full time.

Hey, I say we wait until JL gets in a comfy spot, THEN Toonami holds that poll. ;)
