Recently confirmed by Lucasfilm, and then Lucas himself, where would you like the shows to take place? What format? What time frame? Characters?
Basically, what do you want to see done with the SW universe on TV? Will it have multiple series like Star Trek? How would you feel about that?
Here is what GL had to say:
Lucas: Ultimately, I'm going to probably move it into television and let other people take it. I'm sort of preserving the feature film part for what has happened and never go there again, but I can go off into various offshoots and things. You know, I've got offshoot novels, I've got offshoot comics. So it's very easy to say, "Well, OK, that's that genre, and I'll find a really talented person to take it and create it." Just like the comic books and the novels are somebody else's way of doing it. I don't mind that. Some of it might turn out to be pretty good. If I get the right people involved, it could be interesting.
It sounds to me like he plans to have SW become a TV mainstay spanning multiple shows, maybe even in production at the same time (i.e. a toon and a live action)

I'd love to have a few things done, first some made for TV movies..of the Thrawn Trilogy in CG (they can be the "pseudo" third trilogy...even though we only call it pseudo to please the giant ewok in flannel ;) )
A CG rendition of Shadows of the Empire could REALLY be something of interest. Then there's an entire gap of time between ROTS and ANH as well that could follow someone like Dark Jedi Quinlan Vos during the jedi purge...or perhaps something completely unrelated to the main characters, maybe a show that follows a bounty hunter's guild??
Another idea is a CG Rogue Squadron show, that could really be something special.
Most of all though, I would love to see Mark Hamill return as Luke Skywalker, he is age appropriate for the NJO and even post NJO with a little makeup...

I'd love to see the Thrawn Trilogy done . . . that's what started the whole EU (expanded universe) back in the early 90's and it's filled with great characters.
SotE would be interesting . . . but I'm not sure if Lucas would "okay" that one since it falls within the time frame of the movies.
I'd love to see both Rogue & Wraith Squadrons done. That'd be an interesting series of movies.
The NJO would be a killer series of movies to do and would sooooo kick Matrix butt. Could you imagine the Vong and all that Vong technology on screen? Man, that'd kick major booty! :D
But for an on-going TV series . . . probably something involving the Jedi Academy would work. And you could have all kinds of humanoids and aliens and what-not as Padawans . . . it'd be great! :D

Actually Splinter of The Minds Eye back in the late 70's was technicly the begingin of the EU. But your right in the fact that Zahn is the one who, with the Thrwn trillogy got the ball rolling again in the 90's.
This TV show thing has been rummored for some time on theforce.net. If I remember correctly there were rummors of a series following Boba Fett around during the time between ROTS and ANH.
As much as I would love to see some of the more popular books made into TV series I just don't think it will happen. I think whatever TV series we see will be new matterial, it's less complicated that way.
Anything that gets some of the old acters to revive their roles would be pretty good if done right. What I would really like to see however is something that will brige the gap between ROTS and ANH or something that takes place during the Sith War.

Personally, I'd like to see something post-Yuzahn Vong.

I talked about this once before, so I'll copy and paste what I said:
Here's the last thing I said concerning it, which basically boils down dot NO MORE MOVIE CONTINUITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I say it'd make it all the better. Knights of the Old Republic seems to be the best recieved Star Wars anything since the Timothy Zahn books. And if they do it well, then there'd be no worry about getting to know new characters in a new era, so long as the storyteller does a good job of telling the story.
I mean, anyone who knows the Skywalkers, Obi-Wan, or Yoda more than likely has already maxed out on them from the sheer number of places you can see them saving the galaxy... again.
I love those guys to death, but I am so sick and tired of them! Let someone else take the stage a la Knights of the Old Republic and let's explore new vast legends that can be found on the galaxy sized stage that is the Star Wars Universe.
Actually, what I'd like to see is them do different sagas. I know people are going to flip out at this, but Power Rangers is one of TV's longest running series of all time and is the most watch children's show of all time. Because they don't retread the hell out of the same setttings and characters. Each year you get a knew story, characters, and sagas and a kickass finale.
What I'd like to see is about.... 30 to 40 something episode long series. And they build to a free for all climax and once it's over, start another series. Like have the first series be about Jedi...the next.. bounty hunters... the next... smugglers... the next Jedi and smugglers... and the list of things you could do while keeping the show fresh is pretty much utterly endless.
I want to see and experience an entire Star Wars Universe while I watch a TV Series based off it. Not just hang out with the same gaht damned characters again. I come to the franchise for all the wild possiblitities of getting your own ship, finding out you've potential to be a Jedi or blasting your way out of a Hutt Palace. I don't want to come to it just to watch Boba Fett, who we ALREADY know the fate of in Return of the Jedi.
We know everybody's fate and the fate of the galaxy in the continuity we already know.
Give us something where we know the fate of no one.

John, I won't flip out on ya . . . but I can't stand the Power Rangers. Your point is valid, so I'll take it for what you meant it to be. :)
I like your ideas . . . but I'd also want to throw in, which may be similiar to the Knights of the Old Republic, but have you ever read any of the Tales of the Jedi TPB's? There are some great stories in there and while the fate of one or two characters is know, there are many that are not and you can touch upon the early days of the Jedi and how the Sith came about. I'd love to see that adapted for a TV series.
You could go back in time to the Golden Age of the Sith . . . or you could fast forward it to the time when Luke Skywalker is a name from Long, Long, Ago . . . and the people in the galaxy are 20 generations ahead of the movies. See how the descendents of all kinds of characters have or haven't turned out.
Man, there are so many possibilities.

Power Rangers runs hot and cold, even to the fans, Huntress. It's cool. I just don't wanna hear any bad about Time Force. Don't nobody talk ill of Time Force while I still draw breath!
Kidding, but yes, I read the Tales of the Jedi TPB's. LOVED Ulic Qel-Droma, despite his unfortunte name, and loved that you can actually get his armour in Knights of the Old Republic.
So long as we don't have to see someone else's adventures in the backdrop of the Original or Prequel Trilogies I'll be fine.
I want to see some other Jedi rise to Knighthood, find his saber and take on a Dark Lord with only his friends and a little Force to back him up. I'd like to see the fully told adventures of a Smuggler, the ganster world of a Bounty Hunter, or the military top-gun stories of an X-Wing pilot.
I just don't want them to wear the hell out just one single story, adventure, and cast of characters when the number of fantastic and creative stories are endless.

I know quite a bit about SW's past, especially the Tales of The Jedi and the KOTOR saga, I'm ecstatic about KOTOR II...but NO ONE knows what happens after the Vong..so I WANT to go there BAD! :)

When did I say anything about the Fett Man?
So, does Lucas mean live-action, CG, or something like Clone Wars, Season 3, that's premiering in March?

I've heard live action, which will probally have a good amount of CG tossed in, however I wouldn't be suprised if we see more SW animation in the future as well since Clone Wars has done so well.

*Bump*
I think something post NJO, way post NJO, would be appropriate. It would REALLY be interesting to see the first and second KOTOR games adapted though.

I'd rather something during the Tales of the Jedi/KOTOR Era, thousands of years before, or a series that takes place maybe 300 years after The Great War.

I'd rather something during the Tales of the Jedi/KOTOR Era, thousands of years before, or a series that takes place maybe 300 years after The Great War.I see no reason why a SW series would have to be restricted to one time period. I think it would be great if they'd jump around to different times. Each season could be in a different time period. Or, each season could be made up of mini-arcs that each take place during a different era. That way, we could see everything that's been mentioned in this thread and more. The various Sith Lords could be established, we could see the Jedi back during the KOTOR period and then years later after ROTJ when the Order's been re-established. It'd be great to see different visions by different directors and writers. I think doing something like that would keep the show fresh and new.

Exactally what I've been driving at.
Hell, I'd be even okay with a season that took place during the OT, so long as it was just one season.
The more facets of the universe we're able to see, the better.

In a CG SotE, the actors could return to voice themselves. Except for Carrie Fisher who sounds gravelly now. Maybe she smokes....
