<b>Cartoon Network's ADULT SWIM Making Waves With Adults 18-34,
and DRAGON BALL Z Scores Again as Highest-Rated Animated Program
on All Basic Cable</b>
Cartoon Network's newest programming block, ADULT SWIM, is making a
big splash with its targeted audience of adults 18-34. The three-hour
franchise of original animated series charted a 1.2 household rating
on Sunday night, representing a 20 percent ratings increase and a 45
percent gain in delivery vs. the same time period last year. ADULT
SWIM also equaled its highest adult 18-34 (0.7) rating to date, up a
significant 250 percent. Delivery for the target demographic
(352,000) jumped significantly, as well, up 357 percent.
Compared to its launch on Sept. 2, ADULT SWIM continues to show
steady growth, with ratings up 20 percent in households and 75 percent
among adults 18-34. Delivery, too, has improved by 21 percent in
households (939,000) and 83 percent with adults 18-34 (352,000).
Meanwhile, Dragon Ball Z, Cartoon Network's Monday-Friday 6 p.m.
anchor of the Toonami action-adventure block, once again scored as the
highest-rated animated program on all of cable among households for the
week on Tuesday night with a 3.1 household rating. The series now
boasts a seven-week run with at least four telecasts charting among the
top 50 basic cable ad-supported programs for the week.
Overall, Cartoon Network finished the second week of November with a
1.1 total-day household rating, finishing in third place (tied with
TBS) among ad-supported cable networks. In prime time, Cartoon
Network scored a 1.6 household rating, landing in sixth place (tied with
Nickelodeon) among ad-supported cable networks. Among target
demographics, both total day and prime time ratings showed significant
increases with tweens 9-14, up 24 percent in prime time and 14 percent in
total day.
