View Full Version : Gargoyles DVD: Amazon Mass Purchase Date

Yes, you heard it right. The Gargoyles fandom is planning a mass purchase of the Gargoyles DVD to get it on Amazon's best seller list, which should boost sales, increase popularity, and the hopes of getting the series back in some way, shape or form. The Amazon Mass Purchase Date is of course, the release date, DECEMBER 7TH, 2004. This is our last chance, guys! We have to show Disney that we want our show back!
Greg Weisman, the creator of Gargoyles, had this to say on the Station 8 Comment Room (http://www.s8.org/gargoyles/comment.php) and Ask Greg (http://www.s8.org/gargoyles/askgreg/):
Gang,
I just talked to the folks at Buena Vista Home Entertainment.
I asked them what was the best date for us to MASS ORDER/PURCHASE the 1st Season Gargoyles Series DVD.
My contact was unequivocal in his response.
TUESDAY, DECEMBER 7th, 2004.
Yep, that's right the day of the release. I guess anything earlier is nice but winds up being too early to be useful. But day and date with the release is exactly what we need.
In the meantime, BV encourages ALL OF YOU to go to Amazon and rave in the comments/reviews section. Leading up to Dec 7, the more good buzz on Amazon's site the better.
(Remember this is the make or break event in the fandom. It's time to prove to Disney once and for all that we have the bodies and the dollars and the fanbase and the communications skills to support more Gargoyles product -- both merchandise and creative. If we can't prove it with this DVD release... well, we're not likely to get another chance.)
So spread the word. SPREAD THE WORD!!!!!!!!
The DVD is coming out December 7th. And we'd like EVERYBODY to ORDER/PURCHASE it on THAT DAY!!!!!!!!!You can read his post here. (http://www.s8.org/gargoyles/askgreg/search.php?rid=406)
It's now a reality: the DVD is coming out, all thirteen episodes of the first season, with commentary from Greg Weisman and Frank Paur (producers), and Keith David (voice of Goliath) on the original five-episode pilot, with bonus features such as a documentary on the Gathering of the Gargoyles and the original show pitch, among other things that have yet to be revealed.
ALL EPISODES WILL BE UNCUT, INCLUDING DEADLY FORCE.
We need this DVD to sell as many units as possible. Spread the word. Purchase the DVD from Amazon on December 7th, 2004. Each purchase will help put the DVD on Amazon's best seller list, which should draw in more buyers. The more, the better. If you're going to buy multiple copies, be sure to buy one from Amazon and one from a store near you. If the first season sells well enough, THEN THERE WILL BE MORE. Let's show Disney 2-D isn't dead and that the 65-episode rule should be abolished! Let's show them there's a fandom out there willing to buy Gargoyles merchandise and make them regret cancelling the show!
Click here (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0002W4SY0/qid=1093025572/sr=1-3/ref=sr_1_3/002-0562919-3637601?v=glance&s=dvd) for the Gargoyles DVD page on Amazon and be sure to leave a review. We need to advertise this DVD, and support the show, more than ever. Just remember, Disney's testing the waters. If Gargoyles sells well, then they'll make season boxsets for other series, like Duck Tales, Tale Spin, Darkwing Duck, etc. If you're not doing for Gargoyles, then at least do it for all those other shows.
December 7th, 2004 can't come soon enough!

So it counts if we buy it at a retail store? Cool!
I originally wanted it for Christmas, but if it means new Gargoyles episodes and future Disney Box Sets I'm picking it up on the day it's released.
Thanks for the info!

Thanks for the heads up. Ordinarily I don't get my DVDs through Amazon, but for the cause of keeping Gargoyles alive, I will. Heck, even getting the second season on DVD may depend on this.

Seeing as Dec 7 is my Birthday and I work at Best Buy, Theres a gigantic chance that I'll be picking that up on release day.
I wonder if buying it emplyee discount will affect the tally.....?

Well, I'll try to get it as early as I can when it releases into stores, but it all depends on my parents, and their willingness to go anywhere.

I'm thrilled someone here posted about this. It'd be great if we could get enough activity going to pique Disney's interests...if even a little. Dec. 6th is my birthday, so I definitely know what one belated gift will be!
To show your support, as Greg said, post positive reviews over at Amazon.com to boost up the DVD's importance. I'll be writing one myself sometime this week. The more reviews on how great the series was and how much we want more episodes/and DVD releases the better!!!

Yes, it counts if you buy it at a retail store. The important thing is to buy the DVD on the release date. It doesn't matter where you buy it, as long as it's on December 7th, 2004. I don't think buying it at the employee discount will hurt sales, but maybe you should look into that.
If you can't purchase it from Amazon, then that's fine. You want the DVD on that very same day and don't want to wait for it to ship? Then that's fine, too. You don't have enough money to buy multiple copies? That's fine, no problem.
The Amazon Mass Purchase Date is just to get the series on the best seller list, but that doesn't mean you HAVE to buy it on Amazon. But if you can, do so. We need all the publicity we can get, and being a best seller on Amazon should really turn some heads!
You don't want to buy it because you're not a fan, or for any other reason? That's a pity, but at least spread the word. Talk about it in forums, at college, with friends, anywhere. This is the series' last chance! We've waited eight years, we've had to put up with the disaster that is The Goliath Chronicles, but now we have a real chance to get the series back! Let's take advantage of it!

And don't forget to try and write a review for Amazon! They're up to 29 right now, which is pretty great considering there's still over two months left before it it released. It'll be even greater if we can manage to get up to 50 or 100!

I don't know if I can buy the DVD the very day it is released, but I will definitely write a positive review for it on www.amazon.com (http://www.amazon.com) It all depends if my parents will agree to pay for it on time lol. Sometime my mom waits months before sending the actual payment for the Amazon item, but hell, I will go and write the positive review right now:)
If you want to give some money to ToonZone while you're at it, try this link (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0002W4SY0/qid=1095789983/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/102-4483181-7853732?v=glance&s=dvd).

December 7, day before my birthday. Maybe that'll be my birthday present to myself... If I won't be as pooras I am now. As much as I LOOOOOOVE the show and want to support it, I can't really go around throwing my very limited caché of moolah to DVDs like that.

Well if you can, try and post a review up at Amazon. That's the second best way to help promote Gargoyles if you're not sure you can buy it yet. But it would definitely make for a good birthday present, I know it's going to be one of mine!
Most of us are aiming for 100 reviews if possible, and we're almost up to 40 as it is...with over two months left to go before the DVD's release!

BTW, for those who haven't seen the cover for The Heroes Awaken, click here. (http://avalon.gargoyles-fans.org/ftp/pictures/misc/gtmfront.jpg) Isn't it just awful? Goliath's a HOT PINK! [shudder] And those goofy looks on their faces... what were they thinking?

I'm bliiiind I'm bliiiiiind.....
Oh dear god, no wonder the people over at S8 were in such dread over whether the DVD cover-art would be a nightmare or not!
I saw the cover art today myself, and I love it! It looks really nice...and considering the alternative could have been pink....then it's the best thing ever :D
And that is odd Fone, I don't know why Amazon is giving you issues. But yeah, you can write a review but not buy it there. Have you only been having these issues on one specific computer, or everywhere you try it? I know my school computers can have issues sometimes, but my laptop at home always works fine.
41 reviews thus far!!!
~Barb
EDIT: I just went through Amazon and it's all going fine for me. I went to the Gargoyles DVD page and clicked on Write a Review (http://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-reviews/write-a-review.html/ref=cm_rev_write_2/103-2016173-3931808?asin=B0002W4SY0&store=dvd), and you just go from there with entering your email addy and saying you're a new user.

You don't have to buy it on Amazon, but as long as you buy it on the release date, no matter where you buy it, then you'll be contributing to our cause. Try buying it from a retail store or just order it from Best Buy. Shipping may take a few days, but as long as you order it on the release date, then that's what matters.

Odd that the ad page mentions Brent Spiner. I don't recall him even being in the first season. They could have used Marina Sirtis instead, she's still from Trek. Hell, Frakes and Sirtis are the reasons I started watching Gargoyles when it first appeared.

Hi, Matt!
Well, to find out if your review submitted or not, you go back to the page, reload a few times, and if it's there, then it's uploaded. If it's not there, then you wait a day, at most. If it's still not there, then it's not submitted. You say you pushed the PREVIEW button? No wonder it's not there! You have to push the other button! Do you have MSN or AIM? Maybe I could walk you through it? I just hope you have the review saved to your computer!

Click on Write an online review to submit a review under the item. They'll ask your e-mail address. Fill that out and check the box that says "No, I'm a new customer." Fill out the next page. Write your review, then click "Preview your review." Now, here's the trick. They'll tell you you need a real name badge (which I guess is from credit card information) to submit it. Now, on this page, in that little gray box that has the link that says "Enter credit card holder information" there's another section just below it that says "If you do not want to use your Real Name, you may Create a pin name."
Click on that link there, enter your pen name, Click Continue, and viola! You are now a free member of Amazon.com! Just click Save your review and it should be submitted.
I hope this helps you and anyone else that may be having any problems.

The point of ordering on Amazon on Dec. 7 as opposed to just buying it at Best Buy or something, is to boost its spot on the sale chart - to make it noticeable. The fans want to make a point, an impression, on the Disney execs. We want to show how popular and loved this series still is by having it shoot up to the top of the charts on the Amazon best sellers list the day it releases. That is also why we're trying to get as many reviews of the DVD as possible.
Wherever you buy it counts in the long wrong. But Amazon is very noticeable and that's why we're trying to make a big show there.

I don't have a credit card and I don't think my dad will order it for me on that exact day. I'll try to convince him though. I'll pay him the money for shipping and the DVD price so hopefully he won't have a problem. When I first told him about it he sent an E-Mail to Amazon asking them if they accept money orders. Well, the plan right now is to review the first season and mass purchase it on December 7th to hopefully get the series on the best seller list and when all the new buyers come rushing in and see all those reviews, they should be curious enough as to what all the hype is about and be tempted to buy the series. Once the DVD is in our possession, then we'll review the special features. ;) If everyone decided to review it when they buy it, then that would kind of defeat the whole purpose, I think.
People have done the same thing with DVD releases like Batman and Lord of the Rings: they review the content first, and then review it again with the special features once the DVD is released. And that's what we're doing.
But if you want to review it when you buy it, then that's okay. :) And it's great that you're going to buy it on the 7th! :D
58 reviews still! It's slowing down a bit... let's pick up the pace! We need 100 by December 7th! Here's the link. (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0002W4SY0/qid=1093025572/sr=1-3/ref=sr_1_3/103-7045822-9215808?v=glance&s=dvd)

Just posting to thank all of you for helping get our review count all the way to 60. We're so close to our goal I can feel it and it's all thanks to you guys. :D
I wanted to show you guys a fan-made commercial for the Gargoyles DVD. It's got a few bugs to work out, but it's awesome. You'll need Windows Media Player or some other variant in order to see it. Click here (http://www.sirens-grotto.com/gargoyles.wmv) to download it! :D The commercial was made by the very talented Siren, who's made other music videos about the show. Here's her website, Siren's Grotto (http://www.sirens-grotto.com/).

Wow! That was great! Probably the best Gargoyles commercial I've ever seen. It certainly does the show great justice.
I'll definitely be sure to comment over at S8!
Speaking of commercials, does anyone know if there are going to be any commercials from Disney on the release? I know a bunch of series' DVDs just sort of slide out onto the shelves.

Yes, Toon Disney and ABC Family will be marketing the Gargoyles DVD and airing commercials on their respective stations. I heard Toon Disney mentioned the Gargoyles DVD during the "Friday Nights of Fright" Gargoyles marathon, but I didn't see it, so I can't confirm that. I'll let you guys know next Friday.
Oh yeah, Toon Disney will be airing ten episodes of Gargoyles every Friday night for their "Friday Nights of Fright" marathon. They're skipping episodes randomly, but the commercials are pretty neat.
ABC Family will also be airing commercials, I think. I just don't get how they're supposed to market a series they don't even air anymore. But that's ABC Family for you...
Greg Weisman posted a ramble on Ask Greg (http://www.s8.org/gargoyles/askgreg/) that includes details about the DVD. Click here (http://www.s8.org/gargoyles/askgreg/search.php?rid=394) to see it. It mentions the commercials. :D
There are also two videos taken directly from The Gathering of the Gargoyles in which Greg Weisman reveals the release date, among other things. Definitely worth checking out! They're "Greg Announces DVD" (http://s8.org/gargoyles/gathering2004/videos/Greg_Announces_DVD.wmv) and "What You Can Do to Help." (http://s8.org/gargoyles/gathering2004/videos/What_You_Can_Do_To_Help.wmv) For more Gathering of the Gargoyles videos, click here (http://s8.org/gargoyles/gathering2004/videos/). Magicjac: Did you manage to post the review in the end? If not, then PM me. Maybe I can help!
Fone Bone: Sure! We have 61 reviews so far and the Amazon DVD Sales Rank is 737, when a few days ago it was down to 5,000. One time, it made it to 100! I hope we can make it to at least 10 when December 7th comes...
And for those who haven't posted reviews, for whatever the reason, please reconsider. We're up to 61. Just 39 more and we'll reach our goal of 100!
Over at the Station 8 comment room, we were discussing going to popular forums for other TV shows or movies like, say, Spawn, The Lord of the Rings, etc., talking about their favorite actors lending their voices for Gargoyles. Maybe we could promote the DVD in those forums and reawaken some old fans and make new ones!

I just saw my first DVD commercial on Toon Disney (it was VERY quick) and followed an ad for the Friday Nights of Fright Gargoyles episode marathon. I don't recall them advertising the DVD during the Fright nights, but perhaps I just was out of the room at the time or something...if they were as short as this one I just saw, then it's very possible. It was still really cool to finally see one!

~BarbYou're lucky! I've watched Toon Disney every night in the hopes of catching the DVD commercial, I even sat through one of those horrible episodes of Beyblade B-Force (what a pointless show...), and at last, I saw a glimpse of Goliath awakening from Awakening: Part II, right after House of Mouse, and what happened? Yeah, the fans got a real laugh out of the whole "special tenth anniversary edition" thing at the Gathering. "Yeah, like the other editions!" HAHA! And then there's also the inclusion of Brent Spiner even though he doesn't appear until Season Two. Geez. But I guess it's better than nothing, huh? :P
Barb Gordon: YES! We've reached 70! WEE!!! :D
Everyone else who hasn't left reviews, please take the time to do so! We have fifty-five days left, more than enough time to reach one hundred reviews, and then some! :D Click here! There's a second page for the Gargoyles DVD up on Amazon. It's actually the first, but Amazon went ahead and made a new page instead of updating the old one. The outdated page has eight additional reviews and an option to leave your e-mail so that Amazon may let Disney know how many people are waiting for the DVD. You can leave your e-mail if you want! Click here. (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00005JNEL/qid=1093880397/sr=1-3/ref=sr_1_3/002-5158186-8262459?v=glance&s=dvd)
Please don't leave reviews on that old page, use the new one! (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0002W4SY0/qid=1093025572/sr=1-3/ref=sr_1_3/002-5158186-8262459?v=glance&s=dvd) Is there a way to move those eight reviews to the new page? :P It seems like such a waste to have them on the wrong page!
So we have 78 reviews in all! Isn't that cool? :D A pity eight of them are on the wrong page. Oh, well, we have 70! That's what matters! :D
EDIT:
I was looking through the old posts on this thread, and one of the earliest posts mentions the Gargoyles DVD having 29 reviews on September 21st. So that means that we went from having 29 reviews to 70 in twenty-three days! Give yourselves a round of applause, you've earned it! :D

Barb Gordon

Yes, please do consider getting it from Amazon then!
The backorder thing is a good question, I'll ask some of the people on S8 and see what they have to say about it.
You can order it now and it'll still help...but we're just trying to make a big impact by everyone ordering it the day it is released, to make positively sure it can get on the #1 spot for sales so that Disney will know the fanbase is strog for Gargoyles.

No, you can't submit more than one review. To do so would defeat the entire purpose, since Disney would think that we're cheating and most of the reviews wouldn't count because they're from the same person. However, you can leave another review once the DVD is in your hands and you may review the special features, image and sound quality, cover, etc.
Fone Bone

only 19 more reviews needed now :D
I'd rather err on the side of caution and just keep my eyes on the prize of attaining 100 first. Once that is done, then we can aim again for 150 or something. We've got under two months now, and we're very close to 100 but still....all I want right now is to see that number go 1-0-0 before anything else.
Thanks to everyone that has been spreading the word, and please, don't stop! Tell anyone and everyone you can think of, and try and get more reviews from new people if possible. We need under 20 to hit our goal!

Everyone who hasn't already left a review, I urge you to reconsider. I can't stress how important it is for us to get 100 reviews or more and for this DVD to sell well. If you can't buy from Amazon on the release date, or if you can't buy the DVD on the release date period, you can still support the show by leaving a review. It doesn't matter if you're not good with words, or if you're not a good typist; we can help. If you're having technical problems, then we can help, too. But at least try. It only takes a minute! Here's the link again! (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0002W4SY0/qid=1093025572/sr=1-3/ref=sr_1_3/002-5158186-8262459?v=glance&s=dvd)

I just noticed that Amazon has this section called "Spotlight Reviews" for the Gargoyles DVD. I've seen that on other items, but it was weird seeing it on Gargoyles. Does anyone know why we have that section? Did something trigger it? It wasn't there before. Well, they chose two reviews, and one of those reviews is by yours truly. Yay! :D Here's the link! (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0002W4SY0/qid=1093025572/sr=1-3/ref=sr_1_3/002-5158186-8262459?v=glance&s=dvd)
And nope, no new news yet. We're hoping Greg Weisman says something, as he promised he would, so we're waiting on that. Right now, all we can do is leave reviews and spread the word, be it online or offline. We have 82 reviews and we have over a month left, so we're doing great. :D
I'll let you guys know if I find more news!

Woo, a nice little jump in the count since last night - up to 89 reviews!! Keep them coming people, we are so darn close!
Locall - a money order is where you go to the bank or market (at in least in the US) and you give them money. They give you a money order that is worth the amount of money you gave them...like a check but it's really just representative of cash. You fill in who the money order is for, in this case Amazon, and you would mail the money order to them. Once they receive it they would ship off the item.

Don't quote me or anything, but I thought video game systems were seperated into regions, too. Or something like that. At least, I figured you couldn't buy a game straight out of Japan and play it here in the U.S., for intance.

His rambles always contain some interesting information about the episodes! For example, Hound of Ulster's original title was "A Bronx Tail"! You can check out the latest rambles here (http://www.s8.org/gargoyles/askgreg/latest.php) (they're the ones in green). You can view the rambles, original outlines, and even scripts for every episode up to "Mark of the Panther" (he's still reviewing!) here (http://www.s8.org/gargoyles/askgreg/archives.php?lid=28).
Well, we have 110 reviews! Think we'll make it to 150 before December 7th? I certainly hope so!

Well, let's see. We have 121 reviews! I'm starting to doubt we'll ever make it to 150 before December 7th, but 120's good! :D And the Amazon Sales Rank in DVD is #521. For weeks it was down to #1,000 or more. But that means that the Gargoyles DVD is getting consistant sales, enough to slowly get higher on the list of top sellers! Let's hope the DVD rank gets to the #10 spot or higher on December 7th!

Ahh, you're right. How silly of me to ever doubt! We WILL make it to 150 or close! WOO!
Let's see, we need some kind of topic... so... Hey! Gargoyles is part of Jetix on Toon Disney now. They've even aired Jetix commercials with the Gargoyles. There are no stand-alone Gargoyles commercials, but to even BE in one of those commercials is really something! What do you think of that? Good news or bad news? :P

Yes, Toon Disney. That's what I meant. Of course, it's also been reduced to weekdays and only one episode per day. But at least the episodes will last longer that way. :P
And we broke Amazon's counter again! We have 123 reviews, but it still says we have 121. Now I'm convinced we'll make it to 150 reviews in fifteen days.

The DVD menus look completely new to me. The characters look like they were taken from the episodes (Bronx looks like he's from Enter Macbeth) but the backgrounds look new. They also look very stylish! I wonder if the characters move?
The "claw mark" highlight looks a bit dull. Let's hope it's animated or something, but as long as I get all thirteen episodes uncut and unedited, I'll be happy!

Yes, after all, this isn't about Gargoyles anymore... this is about the future of all Disney animated shows! So, I'm going to buy the Kim Possible DVD on that day, too, and I encourage all Kim Possible fans to get together and buy both Gargoyles and Kim Possible on December 7th. This is the time to act and to prove Disney that our shows deserve respect. We should unite instead of pointing fingers or judging a show... it's everybody's problem!
The fate of all Disney Afternoon shows, and even current shows, may depend on the sales of the Gargoyles DVD. Let's hope the sales are good enough to prove to Disney that they shouldn't cancel shows at sixty-five episodes...

Can I make a plea guys? How about on Dec. 7th (the day of the fan mass-purcahse day), you buy the Gargoyles DVD from the Toon Zone Store? Technically you're still buying through Amazon, but we get a commission for your purchase. The money we make goes into the upkeep of the Toon Zone server and our message board software license. Then you'll be helping save Gargoyles and Toon Zone at the same time.
To do it, just log into Amazon, then go to http://store.toonzone.net and look for Gargoyles on the main page. Click the purchase button and you're done. One-click shopping! Thanks.

Thanks for bringing that up! I think it's a great idea; after all, we've been using these forums to promote the Gargoyles DVD and getting all those reviews, right? So it's only fair for ToonZone to get something in return. :D
And besides, we all love chatting here, right? So let's help ToonZone, too! I won't be able to buy from Amazon because I don't have a credit card, and I'm sure I'm not the only one with that problem, but I know a lot of people can.
Isn't there an easier way to buy from Amazon through ToonZone? Maybe a single-click? I've seen it before...

Hello.
There has been a lot of discussion of the upcoming release of Gargoyle Season 1 one dvd.
But I have one question, which company is actually pressing/producing the DVD? And have those DVDs been quality test (taking one DVD from each batch produced to test to make sure this is nothing wrong with the DVD discs themselves)?
I would really hate for us to come this far and have us fall on our face and have the Gargoyles Season 1 DVD Boxset have sales are bad due to the Gargoyles DVD discs have errors in them.
Also, keep in mind that some of the Disney DVD are designed NOT to play on computers (though I hear you can still rip them on to your computer) like for example the "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl" DVD.
This would really suck for us Gargoyles fans if either of these two problems came up because it would cause Gargoyles S1 Boxset DVD sales to drop, destroying the chances of getting Gargoyles Season 2 on DVD.
I have seen these event happen before on other titles released on DVD and I do NOT want to see this happen again.

Yes! December 7th at last!! The Amazon Sales Rank right now is 250, the highest we've gone since September, in which we hit 109. Everyone, buy buy buy buy!!! :D
Here's what Greg Weisman said at the Station 8 comment room last night:
Well, guys, tomorrow -- December 7th, 2004 -- is the big day. The GARGOYLES first season comes out on DVD.
I know I'm preaching to the converted, but I can't emphasize enough how important it is to the fandom that this DVD sells well.
Good sales on the first day, particularly a nice Amazon turnout, are important, but what's more important are PHENOMENAL SALES over the next month or two.
If you can't get it at Amazon, get it somewhere else.
If you can't get it tomorrow, get it soon.
But get it. And more than that get everyone you know to get it.
Get strangers to get it.
Yes, I know we're all a bit disappointed in the way Disney has somewhat failed to support the DVD with advertising. But as I've always maintained... the burden is on the fans. They need to prove to Disney that Disney needs to spend money to make money on Gargoyles.
They need to prove to Disney that the fandom is rabid and large and ready to support the property with actual dollars and cents.
A very small part of me feels bad about asking you to spend money. But keep in mind if this DVD doesn't do EXTREMELY well, it will be very difficult to convince Disney to support the property in other ways -- including a second season on DVD, let alone new and original material set in the Gargoyles Universe.
By the way, we did get a nice write-up here:
http://www.silverbulletcomicbooks.com/rage/index1.htm
Check it out.
But mostly, take advantage of this opportunity to demonstrate your love for the show. Again this is NOT just about money. This is about SPREADING THE WORD WITH RELIGIOUS FERVOR!!!
Good luck to us all.
You heard the man! Buy buy buy! ;)

I purchased my disc at Best Buy on Tuesday. I had to look in the Sci-Fi TV section, and there certainly wasn't a big deal being made about it (no fancy display kiosk or anything like that). But Best Buy had it, and that alone is quite a feat for the store (in my area, anyway).
I didn't see many other copies on the shelf; there were maybe four or five others when I was there. But that really doesn't mean a lot in terms of sales. It's possible that the store simply didn't request many copies of the disc to sell. So, I'm not gonna put too much stock into the 'flying off store shelves' theory until some official numbers are released.
I do wish the people at Disney would've put more effort into advertising the DVD release. But I know where to find it, and now my friends know where to get it. So, at the very least, word-of-mouth can bring in some new potential fans, or help out those who've been waiting to purchase it.

Yeah, Disney is rather dopey in some ways...no pun intended. I guess the Disney Stores aren't even selling the DVD's or something.....?! At least that's what a few fans have remarked via the S8 comment room. They kept getting blank looks and comments like "Gargoyles is Disney?" or "we don't have it, go to Suncoast!"
