What's your favorite channel for cartoons

What's your favorite channel for cartoons? Cartoon Network, Toon Disney, or Boomerang?

I only have CN, so I guess I have no choice. If I could choose one of the other two channels, though, I'd choose Boomerang. That is unless Toon Disney shows classic cartoons.

I only get Cartoon Network. But even if I did get the other two, I think I'd still prefer Cartoon Network because of the variety and (usually) good quality of its shows.

Why, CN of course. It has Dexter, PPG, AND classic cartoons. Even if it plays Scooby to often, it pretty much beats out the other two stations!

I think you have to get a really good satellite dish to get YTV. It's from Canada.

Of the three listed networks, I like CN the best.
Top five reasons:

5. Coolest anime (no Pokemon, Digimon, or Yah-Mon*)

4. Funniest interstitial sketches ("Passing the Baton" with Aquaman, WW, and the PPGs come to mind on this one)

3. Coolest station ID's.

Cartoon Network, of course. But I understand that there is a great local cartoon channel down in Florida and there is one in Canada Dick Grayson is always talking about that I think I would also enjoy, but until then, Boomerang is second (when I can watch it, I don't get it at home) and Toon Disney is good for Gargoyles and Darkwing Duck!

Like you have to ask.

Cartoon Network all the way.

Why?

- They air some of the best original cartoons on the planet.

- They air classic theatrical shorts from the golden age of animation on a daily basis.

- They finally cut down their Scooby coverage, actually making that series more likable in my eyes.

- They're not afraid to take chances (see Toonami and Adult Swim for examples).

- They create excellent on-air promotions and interstills.

- They don't believe that cartoons are just for kids for the most part.

- They just plain rule.

I like Boomerang, but they would be so much better if they had a regular schedule ala Cartoon Network, and not two-hour blocks of a single show twice a day. It's good to see classic Hanna-Barbera shorts every now and then, but if they created a lineup similar to pre-Time Warner/Turner merger Cartoon Network (a myrad of classics every day), that would make Boomerang so much better.

I lost all respect for the Walt Disney company many years ago when they cancelled ABC's highest-rated Saturday morning series, ReBoot, because it wasn't made by one of their companies. Then, I lost more respect when they their second animated sequel, Lion King II, came out. I REALLY lost respect for them when they pointlessly edited their shorts and later their shows. I see Toon Disney as their homage to their incompetance, making their already abysmal Disney Channel even more abysmal.

I'd like to see Canada's Teletoon and Miami's Locomotion networks catch on in this country, at least the knowledge of their channels in the US. Teletoon has a plan to create several spinoff networks (a template Cartoon Network could use themselves) and Locomotion has received the attention of numerous anime distributors including Bandai and ADV. But none of them will come close to Cartoon Network.

Well, the thing about Locomotion is that it's a mostly Spanish-speaking network that airs a lot of foreign animation, including anime. Basically, Locomotion is the only place in this country where you can see Neon Genesis Evangelion one moment and South Park the next. The channel definitely has a Japanese station feel about it, as the on-air promos and their webpage, located at http://www.locomotion.com , indicates. Funny thing about Locomotion is though it's headquartered in Miami, as networks throughout the Spanish and Portuguese-speaking world, and bankrolled by the Hearst Corporation, syndicator of a lot of popular comic strips like Popeye, The Phantom, and others, not many people in this country know about the network.

I don't have cable at my parents' house, unfortunately, but when I'm visiting my boyfriend (and when I lived away from home to be closer to college) I always tune to Cartoon Network. :)

Cartoon Network and Toon Disney here. Cartoon Network rules all, over any channel that shows cartoons, and I sure like it better than Toon Disney. But when Scooby is on (again), I'll tune into Toon Disney and watch some classic early 90's cartoons.

Wish I had Boomerang. A lot of old school cartoons. Seen it at my grandma's house, and it's pretty cool.

This time last year I wouldn't have wasted a second in saying Cartoon Network. I still say Cartoon Network, but it took a bit of thot. One reason is the senseless censorship, but D*sn*y & Nick have also done that with reckless abandon. Another is their mistreatment of Silver Age WBA. Now P&tB & A! are on Nick, tho they haven't exactly gotten the royal treatment. CN seems to be giving itself to CN formerly Hanna-Barbera, while Boomerang seems to be giving itself to Hanna-Barbera; other than the Bugs Bunny Porky Pig & Road Runner excuses for shows is there anything on Boomerang that isn't Hanna-Barbera? But I realize that there are ownership issues which keep them from showing other studios' products. Same reason CN doesn't show Walter Lantz or DePatie Freleng stuff anymore. Toon D*sn*y I'm looking forward to seeing for patching the holes in my Duck Tales & Darkwing Duck collections, not to mention the magic I've always seen in the Mouse. Hey, I'm a Warner loyalist, but credit where credit is due. You gotta recognize the Mouse's accomplishments, & I do. Now, recently I've become enamored of Nick's Hey Arnold! & yes, even Rugrats; but also recently CN has been surprising us occasionally with what they will show --- a certain recent LNB&W comes to mind. Then there's the Popeye Show; that's good (wish they could do that with Betty Boop & other old Fleischer / Famous stuff). And I've become quite the fan of Time Squad & Grim&Evil, not to mention the Justice League series premiering tonight. Jerry Beck once mentioned the Locomotion network, without which this would be the first I'd be hearing about it. It's the only place afaik that shows the KFS Popeyes I remember being packaged with Bugs Bunny on KXTX. I'd like to see that channel, & YTV & Teletoon as well. For that matter, I'd like to see the international CNs, from back when they were showing P&tB. All things considered, the answer would still be CN. Is it better than all the other cartoon venues combined? Hmmm...

You're looking at it through Netscape rather than Internet Explorer.

Been having problems with seeing the site on Netscape, and it's been like that for a while. Kinda strange, considering I do my editing on Netscape Composer.

I agree with you nemalki. Toon Di$ney may be good for the late 80's. early 90's stuff, but lately they have become a celebration of their incompetance. (First by editing their shorts, and now their shows.) Cartoon Network definately blows them out of the water. It's a shame that Toon Di$ney dosen't have any Cool station ID's of their own. By the way, would you like to see some Flash Cartoons i made that bash the Di$ney Channel? Here are the links.

Cartoon Network is head over heels the best, Disney is preety poor and its hard to judge with bommereang since I don't have it, but i geuss you would get sick of old cartoons after awhile even if they are better than todays Cartoons.

Cartoon Network. It's the only one that even tries to please older & classic cartoon fans. Well, except for Boomerang, but I don't get that...it sounds like it's not as good as CN anyways. I mean, it has some nice old shows, but I don't think that their stuff can compete with JL, Samurai Jack, Toonheads or The Popeye Show.

I watch Toon Disney from time to time, only because they have shows I loved as a kid, like Rescue Rangers and Duck Tales. makes me feel all warm inside. :p

If there's nothing on Cartoon Netork, I'll most likely switch to Nickelodoen, praying for something other than that annoying Slime Time Live crap to be on....

My reasons for liking--nay, loving--CN is the same as everyone else's so I won't repeat it here.

Besides, I have basic cable, meaning no Boomerang or Toon Disney, but those channels probably aren't good anyway (except for Toon Disney, which has Rescue Rangers, Gargoyles, and Darkwing Duck, the only three Disney cartoons that are actually good and beyond the norm for Disney).
